Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 1569: Rescue mission (9)

Chapter 1569: Rescue mission (9)
This was a figure that no one noticed previously because it was small compared to the big strange creatures, but it was still there.
At the same time though, it was clear that this figure was the one that was responsible for everything and the one that spoke earlier.
Though who this figure was was still a mystery that had to be solved.
When one looked at the figure, they couldn’t really see the figure.
It wasn’t as if it was dark, but rather it seemed like there was this layer of something that was covering up that figure. It seemed to be a layer of dark energy that was just like the corruption energy, but it also felt different from the corruption energy.
For those that were sensitive to things like this, they could tell that the dark energy around the figure was actually stronger than the corruption energy.
However, the dark energy was also similar to the corruption energy.
It seemed that the dark energy was connected in some way to the corruption energy, it was just that no one could tell what that connection was.
But this meant that this figure was related to the corruption energy and the strange creatures that appeared here. That meant that this person was most likely the one that had caused everything and the one that spoke just now.
I narrowed my eyes to look at this person before saying, “Why are you doing this?”
“Why am I doing this?” The figure repeated back before suddenly breaking out in laughter, “Ha, ha, ha, who do you think you are to question me? In the first place, this is a matter that’s related to us gnomes, so what makes you qualified to butt into this matter?”
“You’re a gnome?” I asked in a surprised voice.
The voice of the figure became strange as he said in a confused voice, “What do you mean? Can’t you clearly see that I’m a gnome?”
Everyone looked at the figure with a strange look when they heard this.
At the same time, we couldn’t help exchanging looks with each other that showed what we were thinking.
We were indeed seeing the same thing, this figure was covered in that dark energy that was covering it so that we couldn’t see what it actually was. It wasn’t that one or two of us had a problem seeing the true appearance of this figure, it was all of us that had problems seeing it.
“We can’t see your appearance, you’re covered in this strange black energy that’s hiding what you look like?” I slowly said in response to this.
Though we couldn’t actually see what the reaction of the figure was, it wasn’t hard to tell that they were surprised to hear this.
They even looked down at their own hands as if verifying this, but it didn’t seem like they were seeing what we were seeing. It seemed like they were doubting that we were actually telling the truth to it.
As such, it seemed like it didn’t believe us even though all of us were looking at it in the same way.
The only reaction was that it took it into consideration.
After all, it wasn’t as if this many people would be lying to it like this.
After a long silence, the figure finally said, “Then I’ll tell who I am and why this is a matter for only the gnomes. Once you know this, I’m sure that you’ll leave right away.”
It really seemed like this figure was confident in these words, though we had no idea what it was drawing this confidence from.
After all, it was clear that we were here to take care of it no matter what.
It should have already known that we wouldn’t back down that easily.
“I am the son of the Council Speaker of the Gnome Union.”
I couldn’t help looking at the eldest gnome and the other gnomes who came with us, but all I saw was that there were shocked looks that were on their faces. It seemed that they didn’t know about this at all.
The figure continued by saying, “I knew that we gnomes had a greater fate than just hiding in our territory like this. I knew that we were supposed to do much more than focus on our alchemy and hide ourselves in this small piece of land. But do you know what they did when I suggested this to them?”
The voice slowly filled with anger as it said, “They laughed at my ideas and even suggested banishing me from the Gnome Union. They were afraid that I would cause a large international incident with the rest of the world.”
I couldn’t help looking at the eldest gnome again, but he just shook his head and said in a soft voice, “I never heard anything about the son of the Council Speaker being like this.”
The figure continued by ranting about a few more things about the gnome on the council before finally saying, “In the end, I decided that there was no point in letting those people maintain control of our Gnome Union. Using the power of this divine artifact, I was able to transform our Gnome Union completely into the paradise that you see now. The only ones that are still against the new Gnome Union are those that are hiding in this cave. As long as you let me take care of them, then I’ll represent the new Gnome Union to negotiate favourably with you when we open our borders again.”
The way that he said this was as if he was the one that was in the right, but no matter how one looked at it…
With the level of destruction that he caused, especially with how he spread the corruption energy like this…
It didn’t seem like he was up to any good.
It was just strange that he was thinking that he was doing the right thing after seeing all the destruction that he caused.
Was he just delusional or was it something else?
