Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 1578: Rescue mission (18)

Chapter 1578: Rescue mission (18)
In the end, I didn’t have to bring it up.
None of us had to bring it up as the person in question exposed himself.
He was supposed to be hiding during this time, but it seemed that he chose to come out for some reason even though he knew the dangers that were associated with this choice.
When he came out, no one noticed him at first.
That was until one of the gnomes suddenly had a shocked look on his face from seeing this person.
When that gnome came back to his senses, he pointed at that person to say, “It’s the devil! He’s back!”
As soon as his voice fell, the other gnomes all turned to look at Angil who had walked into plain sight. The moment that their eyes fell onto him, they all had the same looks of shock that also had traces of fear from seeing him.
The rest of us couldn’t help shaking our heads with bitter looks on our faces, but we didn’t say anything as we waited for the reaction from the gnomes.
Grandpa Stumps also seemed to wait to see what would happen, but he seemed more ready to act at any moment compared to the rest of us.
After a long silence, Kovic suddenly said, “You are no son of mine! How could you destroy the home of your people!”
The other gnomes turned to look at me with looks of distrust before they said, “Didn’t you say that you already took care of the one that had caused this? Then why is the culprit still walking around freely like this? Is this all a trap?”
I shook my head with another bitter smile before saying, “If it was a trap, wouldn’t we have caught you all much earlier than this? I said that we dealt with the one that caused this mess, but that doesn’t mean him. He was controlled by the Apostle of Destruction and used as a puppet to spread the corruption energy.”
Though I explained it to them, the gnomes didn’t seem like they believed me as they pulled out their potions.
With the way that they held several potions in their hands, it seemed like they were prepared to fight at any moment.
It really seemed like they were angry that they had been fooled.
This just made a helpless look appear on Angil’s face as he didn’t know what to say.
In the end, it was Grandpa Stumps who slapped the table to get everyone’s attention. When everyone was looking at him, he said, “Alright, that’s enough out of all of you! I know that you’re still jumpy because of what happened, but how can you act like cowards like this? Especially you, how could you declare that he isn’t your son anymore?”
Kovic revealed a strange look before he said in an awkward voice, “Dad, you don’t know the kinds of things that he’s done…”
Before he could say anything else, Grandpa Stumps slapped the table again and said, “I’ve already seen everything, I’ve been following them the entire time. Even an old man like me doesn’t have his eyes clouded in fear and can see everything clearly. So how could young men like you act this way? Do you think that this is how you’ll protect your family? The rest of the gnomes?”
All of the gnomes revealed awkward looks when they heard this.
So it turned out that Grandpa Stumps was the real grandfather of Angil and the father of Kovic, the Council Speaker.
I wasn’t that surprised by this since he was someone that could talk freely with the Dwarven King.
If it wasn’t for this fact, it would be hard for him to do something like this.
At the same time, it wasn’t as if the Dwarven King would know him if he didn’t have some status.
With Grandpa Stumps interfering, the gnomes calmed down a bit and we were able to explain what happened. It turned out that they didn’t know anything, Grandpa Stumps hadn’t explained this part to them when he went into the cave to convince them to come out.
When I was done, the gnomes were still looking at Angil with mistrust, but it didn’t seem like they were as scared of him as before. Rather, it seemed like there was more anger in their eyes than there was fear.
This was the kind of anger that came from losing someone…
The disaster that Angil inadvertently caused had caused quite a bit of damage to the Gnome Union. It was impossible for there to be no casualties at all since it had been ongoing for some time now.
So it made sense that these gnomes would have lost some people that were important to them during this time.
They had all rights to be angry…but it was misguided anger.
I took out the button to show everyone to prove that the Relic of Destruction was real.
I would have taken out the shadow as well, but there was no telling what would have happened. At the same time, it wasn’t as if they were that keen to meet the shadow in the first place.
This was the Apostle of Destruction that had corrupted Angil after all.
There was no telling what would happen if they met it.
If it was as terrifying as we said it was, then they might not even be able to resist the sway of the shadow.
So it was better for the shadow to remain sealed.
On the other side, there was a look of regret and guilt that was on his face as he stood there, but he didn’t say anything when everyone looked at him like this. It was as if Angil was just accepting everything that they were throwing at him.
The one that spoke first was Kovic.
“I understand, we’ll take this into consideration. However, it’s still a fact that my son allowed himself to be controlled and caused destruction to our people, so there has to be consequences. This is a matter for the gnomes to discuss, so I hope that you won’t interfere.”
I gave a simple nod in response since I wasn’t worried that anything too bad would happen.
After all, Kovic had started calling Angil ’son’ again.
