Chapter 1583: An invasion?

When I came back from the world of gods, the first thing that I did was summon the popes of the Holy Empire.

When the Holy Council came to order, they all looked at me with confused and curious looks as they wondered why I had summoned them like this.

I didn’t waste any time in telling them what I wanted from them.

Only when they finished hearing what I wanted, they couldn’t help looking at me with strange looks.

There was a long and awkward silence that filled the air as they just kept staring at me like this, but I didn’t say anything as I waited for a response from them.

After a long time, the pope of the Solista Religion finally asked, “Are you planning on starting an invasion?”

The other popes all nodded in agreement when they heard this before looking at me with serious looks.

It was clear that all of them were thinking the same thing.

But I just said with a shake of my head, “Why would I be doing something like that? This isn’t the time for a joke like this.”

That just made them look at me with even more strange looks.

So in the end, I had to say, “This is related to the fourth and final Relic of Destruction. There’s no time to waste at all, this is a matter of the utmost importance.”

Looks of shock appeared on the faces of all the popes that were gathered here before all of them revealed looks of varying degrees of confusion. They just looked at me as if they couldn’t understand what I was saying even if they understood the words that came out of my mouth.

After another long silence, the pope of the Solista Religion finally asked, “Then the Relic of Destruction that was brought back, was that…”

“It’s not it. This is a different Relic of Destruction.” I cut him off in a serious voice.

There were once again looks of shock and confusion that appeared on the faces of the popes. With the way that they were looking at me, it was clear that there were many questions that were on their mind.

But in the end, they didn’t ask any of these questions.

Once they understood what was at stake, it seemed like there was no hesitation at all as they summoned the ones that I was asking for.

With the power of the Holy Empire, it was easy for them to bring the ones that I wanted to see.

Though the main reason for this was because they hadn’t gone far since we had separated not that long ago. These were representatives that had gathered because of what had happened in the territory of the gnomes.

There were also some people that came even though they hadn’t been summoned by me.

These were people that had stayed because they wanted information on what I had learned from the gods.

Once they were gathered, I didn’t waste any time in saying, “We need to enter your kingdom and do a full sweep.”

The moment that this was said, there were many people that were at this table that knitted their brows.

The ones that were especially affected were the representatives from the Brownie Kingdom and the Sorcery Empire. That was because they were the ones that were most directly affected by this.

What I was asking for was entry into the territory of the Brownie Kingdom and then surveying their land without any interference.

Without an explanation, this was clearly an act of aggression.

One would think that this was a prelude to an invasion since what we wanted was to survey the land.

This would give us information on the territory of the Brownie Kingdom.

As for why the Sorcery Empire was involved…it was simply because this Brownie Kingdom was a vassal of the Sorcery Empire.

So for me to ask something like this was putting them in a very difficult situation.

But the representative from the Sorcery Empire didn’t overreact when he heard this or when the representative from the Brownie Kingdom looked to him for help. Instead, he just calmly thought this through before finally asking one question.

“What is your reason for this?”

He figured that since I was asking this, I would have a specific reason for this.

This time, I didn’t hide anything as I said, “There’s a Relic of Destruction hidden under the Brownie Kingdom.”

As soon as my voice fell, there were many strange looks that were cast in my direction.

All of them looked at me as if they couldn’t believe what I was saying, but they also didn’t seem to completely ignore it. It seemed like they were asking for more proof of this.

But it wasn’t as if there was anything that I could offer as proof.

The only thing that I had was…

“This was told to me by the gods themselves. When I met them, they gave me the location of the Relics of Destruction.”

All of them once again looked at me with the same look of doubt.

It was clear that they didn’t trust me on this alone, but I also didn’t blame them for not trusting me on this alone.

I would have done the same in their situation.

Only there really wasn’t anything else that I could give them.

Seeing that I didn’t plan on elaborating any further than this, the representative from the Sorcery Empire deeply knitted his brows in thought. It seemed that he wasn’t able to come to a decision with the way that he seemed to be agonizing over this.

In the end, the representative from the Sorcery Empire said, “We need to come with you and watch over the entire process.”

This was already the biggest concession that he could make.

The only reason that he was making this concession was because of what they saw in the Gnome Union.

He knew that the forces of Destruction were getting stronger and it was only a matter of time before they made their final attack.

“That’s fine. This is what we wanted in the first place.” I said without any hesitation.

As long as we were allowed to find the Relic of Destruction, nothing else mattered.
