Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 1590: Castle in the sky (5)

Chapter 1590: Castle in the sky (5)
Once the video message disappeared, I started looking around again.
There was nothing that I could do about the skeletons that were all around me since they were all already dead.
But there was one thing that I did look for.
Since they had turned into skeletons, it was actually easier to see what I was looking for.
After all, it wasn’t as if their wings didn’t have bones.
Just a single look was enough to see that there were bones that were on the backs of the skeletons. These were clearly the bones that should have been inside of the wings of these angels.
Though it was still hard to believe that there were angels like this in this world.
It wasn’t as if there weren’t angels in the game, it was just that these angels were usually considered high level summons and weren’t an actual race that were involved in the game.
The few angels that still existed were those that served the gods and didn’t have contact with humans.
So to see a castle that was filled with the skeletons of all these angels really was something for someone like me who had once been a player of the game that this world was based on.
Once again, it drove in the fact that I really didn’t know anything about this world.
“Still, what happened to the other races that the old angel said was guarding the rest of the Relics of Destruction. It isn’t as if they would suddenly disappear like that…”
It really did raise a large question in my mind, but I tossed that aside in the end to focus on what was in front of me.
There were many different ways for me to go in this castle and it wasn’t as if I had something that would guide me to where the Relic of Destruction was sealed.
At the same time, there was the fact that the old angel had said that the angel race had died from disease.
There was a part of me that was wondering if I had already been infected by whatever disease was here. After all, it wasn’t as if it was guaranteed that the germs causing the disease would all die off just because the angels died.
It was possible that the germs were still alive and I had been affected when I walked in.
It was possible that this disease was one of those that took a few days to take effect in their host.
So there was no telling if I was infected or not.
That was why I said to Joan, “Hit me with your flames again.”
Joan looked at me with a surprised and confused look, but she still followed my instructions as she released her flames at me.
After bathing in the divine energy flames, the first thing that I did was create an ice barrier around me.
While I had no idea if all of this would keep the disease out, it was better than not doing anything.
The divine flames should kill off any germs that were still on me and the ice barrier should keep any germs away from me. These were made from divine energy, so they had a purification trait to them which would kill the germs.
But it really was hard to tell without being able to test it.
“Bathe yourself in your own flames as well and make sure that you don’t approach anyone else during this time. When we head back, we’ll have to quarantine ourselves as well.”
Joan looked at me as if she thought that I was going overboard, but I didn’t back down when it came to this.
One could never be too careful when it came to diseases like this.
Only after I had made sure that I was properly protected and sterilized did I turn to pick a way forward.
Since I had no idea where I was going, the only thing that I could do was head up the main stairs of the castle.
Since it was the main stairs, it should lead to the main part of the castle and it was possible that this was where the Relic of Destruction was.
But the only thing that I found after going up these stairs was more of the same thing.
There were more skeletons that were scattered all over the place.
All of these were the same as before, they were clearly the skeletons that had been left behind by the angels that had died. But when I looked closely, I could see that some of them were in more exaggerated positions.
It even seemed like some of them were clutching at their throats as they died.
“Does this mean that the disease has an effect on the airway? Does it make them choke when they are inflicted with it?” I couldn’t help making that observation as I looked at the positions that these skeletons were in.
Eventually, I reached a place that seemed to be some kind of throne room for this castle.
That was because there was this throne that was at the other side of this throne room and there was a person that seemed to be sitting there. At the same time, this place seemed to be filled with even more skeletons than before.
It seemed that this was the place where the angels had gathered when they were at the end of their line. It seemed that this was the place where they gathered to face the end together.
There were even smaller skeletons that showed that these were the kids of the angels.
Now that I was a father, there was a part of me that felt even more strongly about this…
Only I didn’t get a chance to sort out these feelings before a voice suddenly cut in again.
“Did you think that we kept the Relic of Destruction here? Of course we wouldn’t keep it in such an obvious place.”
