Chapter 1593: Castle in the sky (8)

“Oh right, we forgot to put the stairs there. Try your best to land unharmed.”

When I heard these words from behind me, the same rage as before filled me.

No, this was a rage that was even greater than before.

I really wanted to punch not just the kind looking old man, but the rest of the angels in the face for everything that they were putting me through.

However, it wasn’t the time to think about that right now since I was currently in a free fall.

Though this was a free fall, the area around me was actually quite well lit and I was able to see clearly. So I was able to tell how long I had before I actually reached the bottom of this hole.

The problem was that I actually couldn’t see the bottom even though I was falling quite fast.

“Just how deep is this hole?” I couldn’t help asking myself as I continued to fall.

I quickly threw that thought out of my mind since this wasn’t the time to worry about that.

What was important now was finding a way to stop myself from splatting on the ground when it eventually came.

After thinking about it for a bit, I decided on the same thing as before since there was a wall behind me.

With the Staff of Earth, I gathered the earth from the wall behind me to reach out and grab me. But I didn’t make it so that the earth from the wall actually brought me to a full stop.

After all, coming to a full stop was a perfect way to break most of my bones.

I had to slowly dissipate the force before I actually stopped myself or else that force would just hit my body all at once. It wasn’t as if that force was something that would disappear on its own.

It had to be slowly negated.

That was just the first law of dynamics.

With the earth hands creating drag as they fell down with me, I was able to slowly negate the force that I was falling with.

It seemed like it would be a matter of time before I came to a stop, but I noticed that there was a problem.

I finally saw the ground that was below me.

I didn’t see this ground the entire time, so I hadn’t been thinking about it. However, seeing it now was a problem since I wouldn’t be able to completely negate the force that I’m falling at this rate by the time that I hit the ground.

With the amount of force that I would be able to negate, it would be quite the rough fall…

“So it’s either suffer now or suffer later…” This thought passed through my mind for a second before I suddenly felt something coming from my stomach where the earth hands were grabbing me.

I chose to suffer now.

It was better to hurt myself a little instead of splatting into the ground like this.

A bruise was better than breaking my bones.

That was why I started creating even more drag with the earth hands that were sticking out of the walls that held me.

It really felt like I was going to be torn from the middle section of my body with the way that the earth hands were creating drag, but I endured it until I finally came to a stop.

Looking down, I couldn’t help letting out a sigh of relief.

That was because I had really cut it very close…

If I was a second late, then I would have smashed into the ground.

Well, if I smashed into the ground with the speed that I had been going at…I don’t think that I would have actually gotten hurt.

The real pain was coming from the area around my stomach and my waist.

That was the part of me that had taken the main brunt of the force negated when coming down.

After landing, I looked around myself and saw that there really wasn’t anywhere for me to go other than in one direction.

So I started moving forward while waiting for something to happen.

Only there wasn’t a single thing that happened as I continued down this lit corridor.

Eventually, I came to the end of this corridor and there wasn’t much that was there other than a door that should be the end of this place. However, I didn’t go through that door that easily this time.

Last time, it resulted in a freefall.

This time…

“I really apologize for our mistake. I thought that we had finished installing the stairs, but when I checked it, it turned out that it hadn’t been installed. We really just didn’t have the time to install it after that, so that’s why you had to suffer like that.”

The same voice rang out once more after I reached the end of this corridor.

“Can I punch you just once?” I said as I looked up at the video that was playing over my head.

But of course, there was no response since this was a recording.

At the same time, it wasn’t as if punching this video would actually make me feel any better.

So I just waited to see what this kind looking old man had to say.

“Well, let’s keep going! The Relic of Destruction is just a bit further!”

A bitter look appeared on my face as I looked up at him, but that didn’t matter as the video suddenly disappeared and I was left alone. The only thing that I was feeling was that annoyed feeling that had been building up the entire time.

But there was nothing that I could take this feeling out on…

Taking a deep breath, I said, “Let’s just keep going. It’s almost over.”

But the moment that I moved past the door frame, there was something that came at me.

“Splat!”

“What is this harassment?!”
