Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 1594: Castle in the sky (9)

Chapter 1594: Castle in the sky (9)
I didn’t actually get hit with anything, but the ice barrier did.
It was covered in this layer of red liquid that seemed to be some kind of paint.
As for where this red liquid came from…
I looked down at the tile that was under me that had sunk once I had stepped on it.
It was another trap that was just like the trap in the previous corridor, but the difference was that there wasn’t a spear that was sent flying at me. This time, it was this ball of red liquid that had dropped from above me.
But no matter how one looked at it, this was some kind of prank rather than an actual trap.
That was unless there was something special about this red liquid…
Nope, there was nothing special about the red liquid.
Controlling the ice to form a scoop, I had it push the red liquid off the top of the ice barrier and onto the ground.
After the red liquid reached the ground, there wasn’t anything that happened.
The only thing that it seemed to do was stain the ground a bit as if it was some kind of paint like I thought it was.
“Was it really just a kid’s prank?” I couldn’t help saying to myself as I stared at the red liquid that was on the ground.
This was what the kind looking old man had said previously, but I didn’t believe it with how many spears had been thrown. But now that there was this red liquid along with the spears, it really did seem to make sense.
At the same time, there was only one thing that I could do to prove it now…
“Click. Splat!”
The same thing happened where another ball of red liquid fell onto the ice barrier once more.
I did the same thing as I scraped it off of the ice barrier and tossed it to the ground before continuing forward again.
By the end of this corridor, the floor behind me was completely red.
Though it wasn’t because of blood that this floor was red.
Even I couldn’t help being amazed by the amount of paint that had been prepared just for this prank.
No, with this much paint, there was no way that this would be a simple prank.
This was far more paint than what a kid could have prepared.
So the explanation that this was nothing more than a prank really didn’t seem realistic…
“But why would they want to harass the people that came here? If they were going to set up traps, it would make much more sense to set up traps that would actually take care of the intruders rather than these silly pranks…” I couldn’t help muttering to myself as I turned to look at all of the paint behind me.
“I’m sorry. The kids really don’t know how to hold back with their pranks. It was all our fault for not watching over them and letting them do something like this.”
When I heard the familiar voice, there was another bitter smile that appeared on my face.
But this time, I just ignored it and walked into the next corridor without even listening to the end of his explanation.
“Pop!”
I couldn’t help taking a step back when I heard this.
Though it created a loud sound, there wasn’t actually any damage to the ice barrier.
In fact, there wasn’t even anything that was left behind after that popping sound rang out other than a bit of smoke.
“A popper?” I couldn’t help saying as I watched that smoke dissipate.
But just watching that smoke alone wasn’t enough to tell me what it was.
So I took another step and caused another sound to ring out.
When it happened this time, I could see that it was indeed a firework popper that had fallen down.
This was the kind of thing that wouldn’t actually cause any harm, it was just made to create a loud sound that would surprise people and catch them off guard.
So I decided to just rush through this corridor and in the end, it was quite loud.
…
“Are you kidding me? How is this still not over yet?” I couldn’t help cursing when I saw the corridor that was in front of me.
After those first three corridors, I had gone through two more of these corridors that had the same childish pranks in them. None of them were able to cause any harm, but it was annoying having to deal with these pranks in succession.
The worst part was…
“I’m sorry, these kids really are too hard to control. When I lose sight of them, they pop up in all kinds of weird places. I really don’t know what to do with them.”
It was the kind old man’s voice that annoyed me the most.
After every hallway, there was a recording that would play and it would always be him making some kind of excuse. But I could tell that they were the same excuse again and again.
It was always that these were pranks that kids set up.
If they really were this bad at taking care of their children, then they shouldn’t have children in the first place!
That was the one thing that I wished that I could have said to his face.
But these were prerecorded messages from angels that had died who knows how long ago. So even if there were some choice words in my heart for them, there was no one left for me to actually say these words to.
“What will it be this time?” I couldn’t help saying to myself as I took the first step past the door.
However, there wasn’t anything that flew at me this time.
There wasn’t even the same clicking sound that I had become used to.
That was why I couldn’t help raising my guard since it was different from everything that had happened before.
