Chapter 1600: Leave it behind (2)
The one that broke the silence again was the Sorcery Empire representative.
“This is something that was discovered in the lands of the Brownie Kingdom and since the Brownie Kingdom is a vassal of our Sorcery Empire, I think that this responsibility should fall to us.”
Other than the Holy Empire, the only ones that had the justification to keep the Relic of Destruction was the Sorcery Empire.
After all, he was right about the Relic of Destruction being discovered in the Brownie Kingdom which was a vassal of the Sorcery Empire.
In a sense, the Relic of Destruction could be considered the property of the Sorcery Empire.
Well, if it wasn’t for the fact that this was an item that could lead to the destruction of the entire world. Since it was an item that threatened the entire world, it became the responsibility of all the races to keep it safe.
That was the angle that I came from.
“If it was kept here, would the Sorcery Empire be able to keep it sealed? There’s no telling what will happen unless we seal this Relic of Destruction in a safe place. We have to take all precautions against letting this Relic of Destruction fall into the wrong hands.” I rebuked in a calm voice.
It wasn’t that I was blaming the Sorcery Empire, it was a fact that the Sorcery Empire didn’t have the method of sealing this Relic of Destruction away.
The Sorcery Empire had been slowly learning how to deal with the corruption energy by using their own special methods to use holy magic. That meant that they were able to fight against the forces of Destruction.
But that didn’t mean that they had the superior holy magic of the Holy Empire or the power of the gods that were behind the Holy Empire.
That was why even though they had superior magical skills, the Sorcery Empire just wouldn’t be able to seal the Relic of Destruction like the Holy Empire would.
The Sorcery Empire representative gave a nod, looking like he wasn’t going to deny this.
But that caught me off guard since I didn’t think that he would actually give up that easily.
If he was willing to admit this, then that meant that there was something else that he had up his sleeve.
No one would let us take the Relic of Destruction that easily.
Or that was what I thought.
“It is a fact that we don’t have the same abilities as the Holy Empire and in everyone’s best interests, it would be best to let them take the Relic of Destruction and seal it away.”
The way that the Sorcery Empire representative said this was as if he was stating a fact.
It didn’t seem like he had any intentions of going against this. It seemed like he was agreeing with letting the Holy Empire take away the Relic of Destruction.
That was why I was caught off guard.
I didn’t think that they would give up that easily, but now…it didn’t seem like they were planning to put up a fight.
Only I didn’t believe that they would do something like this that easily.
There had to be some ulterior motive to this or else they wouldn’t let us take away this Relic of Destruction. So that was why I was just waiting for the kicker from the Sorcery Empire representative.
It was just that this kicker never came…
There was a long silence that lingered in the air as everyone gave different expressions to the Sorcery Empire representative. There were many that were trying to get him to reconsider his words since he was the only one that could actually say anything at this point.
But it didn’t seem like he was planning on saying anything.
He just looked at me as if he was waiting for a response from me.
So eventually I said, “Then we’ll take the Relic of Destruction back to the Holy Empire to seal off.” I turned to look at everyone else before saying, “Does anyone else have an objection to this?”
When the Sorcery Empire representative didn’t say anything, how could the others say anything?
It was funny to note that it was only the humans that seemed like they wanted to say something.
The representatives from the other races all agreed to sealing off the Relic of Destruction without any hesitation.
Once that was settled, the Sorcery Empire representative finally showed his true self.
Or it was better to say that he finally bit into the meat that he wanted.
“Other than the Relic of Destruction, there is the matter of the castle that it was sealed in. It doesn’t seem like the castle can be moved at this point, so what does everyone think about leaving it here in the Brownie Kingdom?”
As soon as he said this, I understood what his goal was.
From the beginning, the only thing that they wanted was the castle.
If there wasn’t the castle, then they would have set their eyes on the Relic of Destruction.
But since there was a castle…
Instead of going for the Relic of Destruction that was like a ticking time bomb, it was better to go for the thing that wasn’t as dangerous.
This flying castle was a relic from an ancient age. It was also a special item that was related to angels and gods.
So there was no need to doubt how special this castle was.
At the same time, the people from the Sorcery Empire should have been able to see the magic circuits that ran through the castle. They should have seen that it used some kind of special magic to remain in the sky all this time.
That was like candy for the Sorcery Empire, it was something that they just couldn’t resist.
So it was only natural that they would want the castle to study.
I didn’t bother saying anything, I just completely gave up on this castle.
After all, it wasn’t as if I would be able to take it with me.
Instead, I just left it as bait for the other human countries to fight over and fight over it they did.
It seemed like all of them wanted this castle for themselves.
