Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 1684: Sacred Duel (7)

Chapter 1684: Sacred Duel (7)
Other than this, I didn’t think that there was anything about the Sacred Duel that would interest me.
After all, I had only come to see what the situation of the local beast gods was.
But in the end, I was wrong.
I wasn’t wrong on the first day as there was nothing surprising about this Sacred Duel.
It was only on the second day that I was surprised.
That was because there was something that was brought in by the people that arranged the Sacred Duel.
I wasn’t surprised by this thing since I already knew that this would be here from my knowledge from the game. It was just that I didn’t expect to see what I saw from this thing after it was brought out.
This was something that I had already seen before because of the relics that the demi humans wielded.
It was the divine energy that had been around those relics.
But why was it on this thing as well?
The thing that was brought in was an altar that was used for the Sacred Duel, but it wasn’t an altar that was tied to a specific ancestor. This was an altar that was used by the demi humans as a means of honouring all of their ancestors…
“All of their ancestors? Then I guess that also includes the ones that are worshipped as local gods.”
In the end, I answered my own question.
Or I would have if it wasn’t for the strange thing that I saw coming from this altar.
When the first fight happened, there was something strange that came from that very altar.
It was the fact that there were wisps of divine energy that came from the relics that were being absorbed by that altar.
It was faint at first, so it was a bit hard to see.
Though in the case of most people, they wouldn’t be able to see it since they couldn’t see divine energy in the first place.
When I looked at it carefully, I could see that these wisps of divine energy were being pulled from the relics whenever there was a clash between the relics. It was almost as if each of the clashes between the relics knocked the divine energy from them to be absorbed by the altar.
But if the altar was supposed to be a representation of all the ancestors of the demi human race, then why would it be absorbing the divine energy like this?
After all, it wouldn’t steal the divine energy that already belonged to them.
The ancestors that became local beast gods were also part of the collective, so it seemed counterintuitive to do something like this.
Unless there was…
“Is there something else that’s absorbing it? If there is, then it would be even higher than the local beast gods if it can absorb divine energy from them…”
The more that I saw this, the more confused that I became
At the same time, the more curious I was about how the divinity of the demi humans worked.
The more that I thought I knew, the less that it seemed that I actually knew since there were all these new facts that were popping up.
Perhaps I had spoken to King Kashou and the ministers a bit too early…
Well, regardless of what it was, it didn’t seem like it was hurting the demi human race right now.
This thing should have happened before since it wasn’t as if this was the first time that the Sacred Duel had happened. Since there hadn’t been anything strange reported so far, it seemed like it should be fine.
The one last strange thing that happened was at the end of the Sacred Duel.
When the winner of the Sacred Duel came forward to be crowned as the victor in front of the altar, he suddenly gave a victory cry. But before he gave this victory cry, I saw that there were wisps of divine energy that came out of the altar that entered their body.
It was as if those wisps had buffed the victor of the Sacred Duel with the way that it entered his body.
After entering his body, there was even this layer of faint light that was around the victor.
It really seemed as if he was being empowered by the Sacred Duel.
“Has this always happened with each Sacred Duel?”
“Do you mean crowning the victor?” The right minister asked in a confused voice.
With a shake of my head, I said, “Not that, the screaming.”
The right minister revealed a faint smile as he said, “Well, they are excited about winning the Sacred Duel, I’m sure you can understand that.”
I gave a nod, but I still asked, “Every time though?”
The right minister was very confused when he heard this, but he slowly nodded in agreement. After nodding in agreement, it seemed like he noticed that there was something strange about how I had said this.
So he asked, “Did you notice something?”
With a firm shake of my head, I said, “Nope, nothing at all.”
The right minister continued to look at me with the same strange look, but I didn’t say anything else to him. I just continued looking at the victor who was standing on the stage with narrowed eyes.
It seemed that I had really spoken too early when it came to the local beast gods of the demi human race.
It seemed that there were a few things that I had to ask the gods when I went back to the Holy Empire.
For now, I would just watch and see if there was anything else that changed.
In the end, this was the last strange thing that happened during this Sacred Duel.
King Kashou and the ministers did have a few questions for me about what happened at the Sacred Duel’s victory ceremony, but I didn’t say anything this time.
I learned my lesson.
Without actually having the full facts, I wouldn’t say anything.
