Chapter 1705: King of flames

As I headed deeper, I did toss out some more ice needles from time to time.

But even then, it didn’t seem like there was anything here that noticed me.

It was as if I was just having a casual stroll in this place with the way that I moved forward.

Though it certainly wasn’t like that since I was surrounded by these rivers of lava.

After a while, I reached the center of this place.

I knew that this was the center because there was an altar that was right in the middle of this open space that was surrounded by the lava. It seemed as if this altar was the thing that controlled the lava with how everything flowed around it.

A faint smile crept onto my face when I saw this altar since it was the thing that I had been looking for.

But I didn’t approach it right away after seeing it.

Instead, I started looking around this area as if I was looking for something.

After looking around like this for a bit, I suddenly pulled out a few items that I rolled around in my hand before suddenly tossing them out. All of these items were different and they were tossed in different directions.

With the way that they flew out and landed, it was as if they formed some kind of array.

Once they were all in place, I said, “Let’s begin.”

Then putting my hand down on the ground, I released the last item that would complete the array.

The mana started flowing through the ground and there were lines of light that formed. Each line was a different colour, as if it represented a different element.

In the center of this array was the altar that was there.

The moment that this array appeared, there was a booming voice that saId, “Who dares to awaken my slumber?”

“You’re the one that woke up on your own and is causing trouble for other people, so how can you say something like that?” I said in response without any hesitation.

As soon as I said this, there were flames that suddenly burst out of the altar.

These flames gathered above the altar before taking the form of a human, but this human form wasn’t a normal human form. It was the form of a spirit just like the small fire spirits from before.

The difference between this spirit and the fire spirits from before was the size.

This spirit was the actual size of a human and with the quantity of flames that came out of the altar, it was likely that this spirit could have taken a larger form if they wanted. But this spirit chose to take a form that was the same size as a human before landing on the altar.

Once this spirit landed, it looked at me even though I was still wearing the robe.

I wasn’t surprised since this robe was only able to stop the lower grade monsters of this place from seeing me.

It certainly wouldn’t work on this king of flames.

“Are you not afraid of me?” That spirit asked all of a sudden as it looked at me like this.

I looked right back at it and said, “Why should I be afraid of you?”

The spirit puffed out its chest before saying, “Naturally because of how great and powerful I am! I am the king of flames, the most powerful spirit in this world! I am the great Fire Spirit King, Ifrit!”

The way that it did this was as if it was acting like some kind of child, even though the form that this spirit took was that of an adult.

It seemed like even though it had the body of an adult, the mind wasn’t there yet.

But I wasn’t surprised by this.

Hearing what this Fire Spirit King Ifrit said, I couldn’t help revealing a faint smile.

That was because everything that it had said was familiar.

In fact, it was just like the CG set that I had seen before in the game.

It seemed that even though many things had changed in this world, there were things that didn’t change.

Though I had no idea why this event was happening sooner than it should have, at least it was going the same way that I remembered.

That meant that the things that I’ve prepared should still work.

“Oh, is that so?” I said in a casual voice, as if I was dismissing what Ifrit had said.

The moment that I said this, the flames that were around Ifrit seemed to become stronger as if it was angry that I had said this. But there was the same smile on my face when it did this.

“Human, for trespassing in this place, I sentence you to death!” Ifrit said without any hesitation before waving its hand as if it was gathering the flames around it.

However, that was when the array that I set up suddenly did its thing.

From the different items that I had released, there was a net that suddenly appeared around Ifrit. The moment that this net appeared, it seemed to restrain the flames that Ifrit had gathered around itself.

Though it didn’t seem like it was going to put out the flames that Ifrit had gathered, it was just smothering it to the point where it couldn’t burn as Ifrit wanted it to burn.

When Ifrit saw this, there was a confused and surprised look that appeared on his face.

He looked at the array for a bit before saying, “What did you do? How did you do this to my flames?”

I didn’t say anything as I stood up again and pulled something else out of my pocket, but I didn’t hold it out as I looked at Ifrit and said, “Do you wish to form a contract with me?”

“Huh?” Ifrit sounded confused at first before saying in an indignant voice, “Do you think that a mere human like you can restrain me? I’ll never form a contract with someone weaker than me!”

I just shook my head with a faint smile before saying, “I guess we’ll have to do this the hard way then.”
