Chapter 1783: A surprising proposal
With the president…no, the former president of the Democratic Union removed, the only thing that was left to do was to reorganize the Democratic Union that had its leaders taken out.
Like I told the former president, we had already made sure to take in key officials.
They would temporarily keep things together until we were able to put new people in these vacant positions.
But there was something that was surprising that came my way.
“Are they crazy?”
That was the only thing that I could say when I saw the proposal in front of me.
The prime minister and the chancellor just calmly replied, “No, they are not crazy. This is a serious proposal that the Democratic Union is making.”
Hearing them say this made it seem even more surreal and my eyes couldn’t help twitching from it.
After all, it was still hard to believe even though they were telling me that this was legitimate.
After all, the thing that was in front of me was a proposal for us to take the Democratic Union as a vassal nation.
The Democratic Union had once been one of the four empires of the human race and even with their leaders taken out, it wasn’t as if they had fallen enough that they would need to become a vassal.
So for them to suddenly propose something like this…
However, when I read the proposal in more depth, I found that there was even more to this proposal.
Only by looking at it closely could I see it.
The terms that were being offered in the proposal were beyond just favourable, it was almost as if they were throwing themselves at us.
The more that I read it, the more confused I felt.
After all, there really was no reason for the Democratic Union to be doing something like this.
“They really want to become a part of us, but because of the distance, it just isn’t possible.” The prime minister suddenly said while I was reading the proposal.
The chancellor nodded before saying, “For them, it would be favourable to join us after everything that happened. But since they can’t actually integrate their territory into the Kite Kingdom because of the distance, becoming a vassal is the second best option.”
I looked at the two of them with a strange look when I heard them say this.
After all, they had said it as if it was natural that the Democratic Union would want to become a part of our Kite Kingdom.
But I really couldn’t understand why the Democratic Union would ever want to become a part of the Kite Kingdom. Even if the Kite Kingdom was up and coming, it wasn’t as if we were close to being at the same level yet.
Seeing the confused look that I had, the two of them shook their heads with faint smiles as if they found my reaction funny.
I couldn’t help narrowing my eyes to look at them when I saw them like this.
After all, it was as if they were laughing at me with the way that they acted.
In the end, the prime minister said, “I think you’re underestimating yourself a bit too much, your majesty.”
The chancellor nodded in agreement to this.
But all I did was look at them with a confused look when I heard this.
After all, I didn’t think that I was underestimating myself at all.
Even if I had the powers of a demigod, that was only applicable to the forces of Destruction. It wasn’t as if these abilities had any special power over humans.
As such, it wasn’t as if I was a one man army when it came to facing humans.
With enough numbers, I would be taken down quite easily.
Even if the wyverns were powerful, they were still limited by numbers.
So in the end, it really didn’t seem like I was overestimating myself or my country.
“You’ve forgotten about the spirits.” The prime minister suddenly said as if he could read my mind.
I was surprised to hear this, but I still shook my head and said, “It isn’t as if the spirits are enough to cancel out everything. Even if we have the power of the spirits on our side, they have pure numbers. We can’t just use spirits against all those people.”
“That’s only if we have one spirit, but what if we have multiple spirits?” The prime minister said with a mysterious smile.
I couldn’t help raising a brow to look at him when I heard this.
The prime minister didn’t keep me in suspense as he explained, “We’ve been experimenting with some people and they’ve been able to form contracts with spirits. As long as we continue with this, we should be able to develop an entire group with spirits.”
I couldn’t help being surprised by this before asking, “When did you have time to do this?”
The prime minister just said with a smile, “It’s not as if we’ve been idle while you’ve been away.”
The chancellor said with a nod, “With the developing wyvern corp, the new spirit corp, and the different warriors that are being trained by the other races, we’re just completely different now.”
The prime minister also gave a nod before saying, “Not to mention that we’ve been working on developing our agriculture and our economy, so we’re in quite the good position now.”
“In short, you shouldn’t underestimate how much the Kite Kingdom has developed.”
A bitter smile appeared on my face when I heard the two of them say this.
It seemed that the two of them…no, it seemed that everyone had been busy while I was away.
They had already built up the Kite Kingdom into something that no one could look down on anymore.
It was to the point where even the Democratic Union would want to become a vassal.
Since they were the ones that made it happen, I just said, “You guys decide then. You’re the ones that brought our kingdom to this point, so it’s only right that you decide.”
This definitely wasn’t me just pushing this problem to them.
