Chapter 1800: A strange wind
With this fourth Spirit King secured, there was nothing left for us here.
Though a part of me wondered if Sylph felt anything as we went through the former home of the winged people. Only it didn’t really seem like she cared about this place at all, she didn’t even seem to recognize this place as we went past.
As expected of the most narcissistic Spirit King.
The only thing that she cared about was herself and she didn’t think at all about her followers.
Since we already knew the way after traveling it once, it was easy for us to arrive back at the entrance of the cave.
Though after exiting the cave, it was still hard for us to make our way down the mountain.
Or it would have been if not for the fact that I raised my hand to create a ball of warm wind around us.
With my contract with Ifrit and Sylph, it was easy for me to cast magic like this. It almost didn’t take any mana at all since I had access to natural mana from my contract with the two of them.
Though it didn’t seem like Sylph was happy that her power was being used like this.
However, it certainly was much warmer with this ball of warm wind around us.
As we were making our way down the mountain though, Sylph suddenly said, “There’s a strange wind.”
I couldn’t help being caught off guard by this since it was different from anything that Sylph had said to me before. After all, the way that she said this made her seem serious.
It definitely didn’t fit the image that I had of her.
But it wasn’t as if I could just ignore her when she was acting serious like this.
As the Spirit King of Wind, it was natural that she would be able to feel something strange with the wind around us.
Though I was confused why she even cared…
“If there’s something strange inside of your territory, wouldn’t you want to get rid of it?” She said to me when she saw the way that I looked at her.
Hearing her say this made a faint smile appear on my lips.
After all, she sounded much more like herself when she said this.
Since Sylph wanted to find what this strange wind was, it meant that we had to take another detour. Though I certainly didn’t mind since this was something that even the Spirit King of Wind Sylph considered was strange.
So there was no doubt that it would be something that was actually quite strange.
With Sylph leading the way, it didn’t take long for them to arrive at the place that the strange wind was coming from.
But in the end, it didn’t seem like there was anything there.
It was nothing more than a forest that didn’t have a single thing there.
When we stopped, Klein and the others asked, “Your majesty, is there a reason that we’re here?”
It was clear that they wanted to head back to the Kite Kingdom since they didn’t want to be out here any longer.
It wasn’t that they were tired, though that was a small part of it.
It was more that they were afraid that I would get them caught up in something else.
They didn’t want to see me cause even more trouble after all.
But I just waited to see what Sylph would have to say about this.
“The strange wind is coming from here. It’s almost as if there’s something that’s blocking the path of this wind, something that is abundant in man. Only what is this thing?” Sylph said almost as if she was speaking to herself.
I was surprised to hear this, but I focused on the space that was in front of us to see if I could find anything.
After all, I was quite sensitive when it came to mana.
After a while, I actually found something.
Though it certainly wasn’t what I had been expecting to find.
Instead of finding something with my mana sense, I found something with the divine energy inside of me. It seemed to be reacting to something that was in front of us, something that I couldn’t see.
It wasn’t the same reaction that I got when it reacted to corruption energy.
Rather, it felt like it was resonating to something that was similar.
The only time that happened was when there was divine energy nearby.
Only why would there be divine energy in the middle of nowhere like this?
I slowly moved in the direction that the divine energy was pulling me and soon I reached something.
When I looked back, I found that Klein and the others weren’t anywhere near me. In fact, it seemed like they weren’t even bothering to follow me with the way that they had turned around.
However, I could hear what they were saying.
“Your majesty, please wait for us.”
It seemed that whatever they were seeing wasn’t actually there, but it was convincing them to head in the opposite direction. It seemed that there really was something here that was keeping people away with illusions.
Only why would there be something like this in the middle of nowhere?
It really didn’t seem to make any sense at all.
Following the divine energy a bit longer, I suddenly came to a stop.
That was because the sensation that came from the divine energy was right in front of me, even though I wasn’t able to see anything there. I could tell that there was some form of energy that was resonating with the energy inside of me.
So that was why I suddenly raised my hand in front of me.
When I brought it up, it felt like my hand made contact with something.
This something seemed to react to my hand touching it before suddenly opening up and changing the scenery in front of me.
It was a barrier that I had disrupted.
