Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 1819: Some kind of portal

Chapter 1819: Some kind of portal
I had already guessed that would be the case.
Even if the sages of the Sorcery Empire were among the foremost authorities when it came to magic knowledge on the continent, it wasn’t as if they knew everything there was to know.
Magic was a deep topic that had existed for many generations now and there were always new discoveries being made.
Magic wasn’t something that one could get to the bottom of, so there would always be new things like this.
In fact, they were already looking over the strange swirl after they had reported this to me. It seemed like they wanted to find everything that they could about this strange swirl with the way that they looked at it.
I didn’t say anything to interrupt them since it wasn’t a bad thing for the sages to do this.
In fact, I looked at the others that came with me and gave a nod to them to show that they had my approval.
Once they received this, they all went forward to look at the strange spiral as well.
Even though they didn’t have the same knowledge on magic that the sages had which was why they deferred to them on this matter, it wasn’t as if they didn’t have any knowledge at all.
Each race had their own unique understanding of magic and their own unique way of casting magic. So there would be things that they would know that the sages wouldn’t know.
Such as the case with the array that was in the Mofu Mofu Kingdom and the land of the orcs. Those were arrays that had been created with the shaman magic that the orcs used, so it wasn’t something that the sages recognized.
But the orc shamans recognized them right away since it was based on their magic.
That was why it was good to get different perspectives on this matter.
After looking over the strange swirl for a bit, the only consensus that they could all come to was…
“It seems to be some kind of portal.”
I looked at all of them with one raised brow, just like how they normally looked at me before asking, “Are you certain of this?”
They didn’t answer right away as they looked at each other.
With how they looked at each other, it was as if they were trying to come to a collective conclusion. But in the end, it didn’t seem like they were able to do that with the looks on their faces.
It seemed that they had only just confused themselves even more by sharing these looks.
In the end, the sage of the Sorcery Empire just said, “We aren’t certain since we’ve never seen this array before, but we can tell that at the very least that there were spatial components to it.”
The elves nodded in agreement before saying, “We could feel the spatial energy coming from it as well. It seems to be set up to rip a tear in space and transport something, but we have no idea what.”
The others all nodded along as well, but it didn’t seem like they were as certain as these two groups.
However, just the agreement of these two groups was enough.
After all, they were the sages of the Sorcery Empire and the elves of the Elven Forest.
One was a group that dedicated their lives to studying magic, the other was a group that was naturally sensitive to things like mana and forms of energy mana is turned into. With these two groups, it was easy for them to confirm what this strange swirl did.
But if it was a portal, just where did it lead?
Would the forces of Destruction really just leave a portal to their headquarters in a place like this?
This didn’t seem likely at all.
In fact, it even seemed like this would be some kind of trap.
But this was the only clue that we had on the whereabouts of the forces of Destruction and if we were to give this up, there was no telling when we would find another clue about the forces of Destruction.
So even if we weren’t certain if this was a trap or not, it really seemed like we needed to take a risk.
I could see that it wasn’t just me who was thinking this, the rest of the group was thinking the same with the looks on their faces. The only thing to decide now was who would be the ones going through this portal.
No, before that…
“Can you get it working?” I asked the sages and the elves.
They looked at each other for a bit before saying, “It’s already working.”
“What do you mean by that?” I couldn’t help asking in a confused voice.
The two groups looked at each other awkwardly before picking up a rock from the side and tossing it into the strange swirl. The moment that the rock landed in the strange swirl, there was this black energy that came up and grabbed it.
Once the rock had been seized, it was pulled into the ground and disappeared without a trace.
With this kind of demonstration, it was hard to misunderstand what they were saying.
With that problem solved, it was just the matter of stepping into the portal array now.
Actually, there was something else to think about.
The way that the portal array actually took people in seemed a bit violent.
That was clearly corruption energy that had appeared to grab the ones that stepped into the portal array. While it wouldn’t matter to those that were made of corruption energy or were corrupted by it, for us that hadn’t been corrupted by it…
If we were to use our holy magic or even the divine energy, it felt like it would interfere with the transport abilities of the portal array.
So we had to figure out both who would be going and a way to survive the corruption energy.
