Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 1841 1841: Something’s wrong (2)

The only thing that was left was to search under the ground.
Even though we had no idea what was under the ground in this pocket in space, at least we had to try something since there was nothing for us to find above the ground.
I didn’t want to try this before since this was technically a pocket in space and there was no telling if there was even a bottom. So if I were to start digging without knowing this, there was no telling what would happen.
We might even have poked a hole in this pocket in space and had thrown ourselves out of time and space.
But seeing that there was nothing, I had to at least give it a try.
It was hard to do it since even the ground was completely corrupted by the corruption energy.
So for me to actually dig, it meant that I had to use my Staff of Earth to purify the corruption energy in the ground before moving the earth out of the way. This was a process that took a while to actually do, but I was able to do it in the end,
It was a good thing that we found what we were looking for very quickly or else there was no telling when we would have found this.
However, it also wasn’t a good thing that we found it that easily.
The only thing that was in this spot hidden under the ground were a bunch of captives.
Well actually, other than the captives, there was also the big ball filled with corruption energy that was maintaining this place. Other than this, it really didn’t seem like there was anything else that was here.
There wasn’t a single trace of the forces of Destruction.
There wasn’t even a single corruption energy monster that had been guarding this place.
So why would they have the corruption energy monster patrol the area, but not have them guard this place where they were keeping the core and the prisoners?
It didn’t seem to make any sense at all.
“Can you go up and see if there’s anything above us?”
That was the last thing that I could think of which was why I asked this of the Feather Race member that came in with us.
But in the end, there wasn’t a single thing that was found.
No matter how we tried searching this place, it really seemed like this place had been completely abandoned.
The other strange thing was the condition that the prisoners were in.
There were a few that had been in critical condition, but the reason that they were in that condition wasn’t because of the corruption energy. Rather, it was because they had been starving and dying of thirst.
That shouldn’t have been the case since the forces of Destruction had shown that they cared about the people that they captured previously.
After all, they were a source of test material for them that they should have taken care of.
So for them to ignore all of these captives now…
It meant that they had abandoned not just these captives, but also this entire outpost.
“Heal them as quickly as you can. We need to know when they abandoned this place.” I said to the priests as soon as I figured this out.
At the same time, I waved my hand and created a zone of divine energy mist so that they would be able to cast their holy magic more easily.
It didn’t take long for them to heal one of the prisoners that we had saved and I questioned them right away.
“When did they leave?” The prisoner couldn’t help repeating in a surprised voice.
But I just said in a firmer voice, “You need to tell us now. This is of the utmost importance.”
He couldn’t help being taken back by how firm I said this, so he slowly said, “It’s hard to tell since there really isn’t a day night cycle to count on…”
I couldn’t help deeply knitting my brows when I heard this.
But in the end, another one of the healed prisoners said, “It’s been around three days.”
“Are you certain?” I couldn’t help looking a bit skeptical since they had said it too quickly.
“It’s been around two hundred thousand seconds since they last came to feed us, so it should be around two days and a bit.”
“Huh?” I couldn’t help being caught off guard when I heard this.
This prisoner was a little girl who didn’t seem that special at all, but I knew that she was right if she had actually been counting the seconds in her head.
After all, it was around eighty six thousand seconds in a day and three days would be around two hundred and fifty thousand seconds.
But that was only accurate if someone was actually counting the seconds since that time.
At the same time, I didn’t believe that a young girl would have an ability like this.
“She’s right. She’s a special talent, which was why she was kidnapped.” The others started backing her up when they saw the way that I looked at her.
Thinking about it, most of the people that had been captured were adults.
This was actually the first child that we had seen been kidnapped, so it made it more believable that there was something special about her that they would kidnap her.
It was just still hard to believe that they would kidnap a child like this…
After thinking about it, I asked, “Why did they leave you here then? Since you’re a special talent, it would make sense that they would take you with them, right?”
The little girl just shook her head before saying, “I don’t know. After they last fed us, they suddenly started running as if there was something that they were afraid of. Based on how you cured all of us, they should have been running from you.”
