This little girl was quite the perceptive one and at the same time, she had that talent of being able to count seconds in the head.
But the more special she was, the more it felt like there was something wrong with all of this.
It really seemed like there was something more sinister behind all of this, almost as if this was some kind of trap…
“For now, I’ll have to restrain you. Since you’re a special prisoner, there’s no telling what they’ve done to you.” I said all of a sudden to the surprise of the others.
It wasn’t just the other prisoners that were surprised, it was the others that came with me that were also surprised. They looked at me as if they were meeting me for the first time.
They just simply couldn’t believe that I would say something like this.
However, I didn’t back down on this as I raised the Staff of Earth.
With the Staff of Earth, I created shackles out of divine energy earth that I used to bind the arms and legs of the little girl before going forward to say, “I’ll carry you out, alright?”
The little girl nodded, but she also raised her shackled hands and said, “It’s not as if there’s anything else that I can do.”
I couldn’t help revealing a faint smile when I heard this, but the others were looking at me as if I was some kind of brute. Not that they were wrong to look at me like this since I had put shackles on the hands and feet of a little girl like this.
However, it really felt like there was something off about this place.
That was why I had no choice but to do this for everyone’s safety.
Once we had finished searching this underground area and made sure that there wasn’t anything else to collect, I went forward to stand in front of the ball filled with corruption energy.
“Big brother, what are you going to do?” The little girl asked as I stood in front of it.
“Close your eyes for a bit and you’ll find out soon. I’m going to use a magic trick to bring us all out of here.” I said with a smile. Though this was the least that I could do since I had technically trapped this little girl.
The little girl was surprised to hear this, but she closed her eyes before saying, “Tell me when to open them, big brother.”
With another smile, I raised the Staff of Earth and created divine energy earth tendrils that I used to crack the ball of corruption energy.
The moment that this happened, the same thing as before happened where the sky began to shatter and fall apart.
It didn’t take long before the sky completely shattered and we were released from that crack in space.
After that, I said, “You can open your eyes now.”
When the little girl opened her eyes, she looked around with a surprised look before saying, “Where did all of the black swirls go?”
“Black swirls?” I couldn’t help asking in a confused voice.
But then after thinking about it, I started to realize what she was talking about…
“You can see the corruption energy?” I said in a surprised voice.
“Corruption energy? What is that?” The little girl was confused when she heard this.
“I think they would have called it destruction energy, right?” I asked her instead of answering her question.
“Right, they were talking about some kind of destruction energy that I never heard of before. It really was a strange thing…” The little girl said almost as if she was speaking to herself.
As expected, this little girl was anything but ordinary.
However, I still wasn’t sure if she was some kind of trap or not.
If she wasn’t a trap, then it didn’t make sense what happened…
“Can you go with the others for now? I still have something else to do, so I’ll come and see you later.” I said to the little girl after thinking about it.
The little girl gave a nod and went to get out of my hands, but I made sure to release her shackles before she did.
She had already proven that she wasn’t here to harm us, so I wanted to see what giving her a bit of freedom would do. If she was a spy, it would only be a matter of time before she was caught with how much surveillance was set up.
Since the matter with the Democratic Union, we had been much more on guard against spies.
Once the little girl was taken away with the rest of the rescued captives, I summoned out Sylph and asked, “Have there been any reports?”
She seemed like she wasn’t happy that I had summoned her like this, but she still said, “Nothing so far.”
I didn’t expect anything since I didn’t think that anyone would clear out an outpost faster than me. But because of what happened with this outpost, I couldn’t help feeling that there was something strange…
“Perhaps this is just an outlier.” I couldn’t help saying to myself in the end.
Since there was no word from the others, the only thing that we could do was head to the next portal array. After all, we were supposed to take care of two outposts each and I couldn’t waste any time here.
That was why I gathered everyone and started heading for the next outpost.
We had already cleared out a path, so it didn’t take us long to arrive at the next portal array.
We did the same thing as before where we split up so we could explore the outpost itself, but there was no need in the end.
When we entered the portal array, the same thing happened where we were pulled in.
But this time, there were no patrolling corruption energy monsters at all.
And when we reached the base, there was no corruption energy monster or Apostles of Destruction waiting for us.
