Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 1973 1973: She’s just lazy (3)

When I sensed this, the first reaction that I had was to raise my hand and gather divine energy.
I was prepared to use my attack to purify this corruption energy that was coming at me.
But before that mass of corruption energy could even reach me, there was this barrier that appeared around me.
This was a barrier of pure divine energy that stopped the corruption energy from reaching me.
This barrier of pure divine energy was quite powerful and by all rights, it should have been enough to purify the corruption energy that was in front of me. However, it didn’t seem like it was able to purify that corruption energy and was only able to sting it.
Even though it should have been pure divine energy that was on a different level, it didn’t seem like it with how it interacted with the corruption energy.
“As you can see, this is the reason why I can’t deal with this destruction energy.” Insectum said all of a sudden from my side.
I didn’t say anything as I focused on the divine energy.
After looking at it for a bit, I realized what the issue was.
Even though it was a barrier that was made of pure divine energy, I could see that the attribute of the divine energy was different from the attribute of any divine energy that I had seen previously.
After talking with the gods for a bit, I had slowly started to understand what attributes of divine energy meant.
I knew that for a god to become a god, they had to have a domain that they would be in charge of.
But this domain also decided what kind of attribute their divine energy would possess.
I wasn’t certain what kind of attribute a God of Insects would have, but it was clear what it was now.
It was propagation.
The reason that there was this pure divine energy barrier in the first place was because there was a large amount of divine energy that was present. Because of the nature of Insectum’s divine energy, there was a large amount of divine energy that was generated.
However, just because there was a lot of divine energy, it didn’t mean that this was powerful.
When the divine energy that Insectum used propagated, it only created more of it that was at the same level as before. It didn’t become stronger the more that it propagated.
So it could only be said that it was only growing in quantity and not quality.
As such, the divine energy barrier really didn’t have any real strength behind it.
There was no doubting the defense that it possessed since it had a near infinite amount of divine energy to draw on. As long as Insectum’s power didn’t disappear, the divine energy would continue to propagate.
So what Insectum said was true.
Its power wasn’t suited for taking down this corruption energy, but it was definitely suited for containing it.
Insectum had been silently watching as I observed the corruption energy and the divine energy barrier, but then they suddenly said, “As you can see, I’m specialized in defense and not so much in attack. Even if I wanted to, there really isn’t much that I could do against this destruction energy.”
Lin Fan looked at the spider with a strange look.
Insectum remained silent for a bit, but then it suddenly said with a sigh, “If you hadn’t shown up, then I wouldn’t have been able to do anything and would have lost control of this destruction energy eventually.”
“Why not ask the other gods for help? I’m sure that there’s someone that would have been willing to lend a hand. After all, it’s not as if you were the one that created this habitat for your messenger in the first place.”
“No one will move right now because of the proph…” Insectum was about to say something, but then it stopped itself as if it realized that it had made a mistake.
I narrowed my eyes to look at it, but I knew that it wouldn’t say anything else.
It might slip up once, but that would be enough to make it raise its guard once more.
The spider turned away as if it couldn’t face my gaze as expected.
Since it wasn’t going to say anything…
I turned back to face the pit and raised my hand.
When I did, there were flames that gathered in the air above the pit.
I had been worried that the divine energy barrier would stop these flames, but they didn’t since they were all from the same source. Since they were all divine energy, the divine energy barrier Insectum put up allowed it to pass without a trace of interference.
Once the flames had gathered enough, I waved my hand and let it drop.
The corruption energy hadn’t tried to attack the divine energy flames because they had felt fear from it. But when it was being dropped on them like this, the corruption energy really had no choice but to fight back against it.
The corruption energy that surged out from deep inside the pit was much greater than I had expected.
It seemed that there was a large amount of corruption energy that had gathered in this place over the long years.
It seemed like I had completely underestimated just how powerful Insectum’s defenses were.
The flames continued to burn for a while, but eventually they came to a stop since the corruption energy that had been coming out stopped.
“Is that it?” I asked Insectum who was watching from beside me.
The spider gave a nod before Insectum said, “You really are the one chosen by them…”
This was once again more information for me, but I chose not to react this time to see if I could get more.
But there was one thing that I did confirm from all of this.
Insectum said that Queenie was lazy…but from what I had seen, it seemed that it was just as lazy as her.
After all, there were many different things that Insectum could have done to take care of this and it seemed to only agree to the simplest suggestion that I had made. That made it very clear that Insectum had not thought about this beyond asking for help from the other gods.
It seemed that what kind of god the messenger served really did determine what kind of messenger they were…
No, that wasn’t the case since it wasn’t as if Zeldir was similar to the god he served.
That god was a complete fanboy and Zeldir was the opposite of that, unless there was something that I didn’t know about him. Or unless Zeldir was really good at hiding his true feelings.
Though I certainly wouldn’t have wanted that to be the case…
I stopped thinking about this and said, “So is there anything else that you want me to do?”
Insectum seemed to have come back from its daze before shaking its head and saying, “No, that was the only problem that I needed your help with. Now that you’re done, let’s go and get you that relic.”
This god and messenger really were similar…
