Chapter 1979: Bugpocalypse (3)

“Is everyone here?”

“What happened inside?”

“Where did all of those bugs come from?”

That was the scene that was happening at the entrance of Death Valley.

Since there was this large commotion, it was only natural that everyone had been drawn out to see what was happening. Then when they saw the large amount of bugs that had come out of Death Valley, they immediately panicked and ran away.

But in the end, there were those that came back since they had loved ones that had been in Death Valley when this happened.

The mercenaries naturally had families that lived nearby and their families wanted to know that they were safe.

Which was why there was this camp that was created at the entrance of Death Valley.

I had snuck out with the rest of the mercenaries and had been listening in on everything that they had been saying. But at the same time, I had been paying attention to who had come to this place.

After all, I needed witnesses with enough prestige that they would be able to testify on what happened.

The mercenaries that went into Death Valley belonged to their own groups, but there was an organization that was created to manage them.

It wasn’t a real organization that would actually restrict them on the things that they could and couldn’t do. It was more of an organization that just made sure that the mercenaries didn’t go too far.

After all, it would be troublesome for the countries near this place if the mercenaries were to do things that they shouldn’t do.

But in times like this, it was also this Mercenary Association that managed things like search and rescue. As a regulatory body, it was only natural that they would do things like this.

Especially since each mercenary group was forced to pay a fee to join the association in the first place.

Near where I was standing, there was something that seemed to be a base camp that was set up. There was a group that was at the center of that base camp and it seemed like they were quite important with how they were giving orders.

From what I could hear, I could tell that this was the group from the Mercenary Association.

But it wasn’t that they were just the group from the Mercenary Association, it seemed like they were the group that led the Mercenary Association.

After all, I could hear that someone was being called ’president’.

Other than that, I could tell that other groups had come as well.

They were merchants that had been trading with the mercenary groups that moved in and out of Death Valley.

Though the reason that they came was different from the reason that the Mercenary Association group came. They came because they were worried about their interests being harmed by what happened here.

They were here to see if they could still get the resources that they had been getting from the mercenaries.

Even though they came for selfish reasons, they were still people that had enough status that I would be able to use them for my goals.

Which was why I activated the second part of my plan now.

“The bugs haven’t been coming out? Then why did they suddenly start attacking the mercenaries that were in there?”

After the mercenaries had escaped Death Valley, it didn’t seem like any of the bugs had chased after them.

“Could it be that they were just establishing their territory? Could it be that there’s some kind of powerful queen that has taken over?”

With the way that the bugs acted, this really seemed to be the case.

Only they didn’t get to discuss this for long.

I could tell that the merchants would force the Mercenary Association to send mercenaries into Death Valley to investigate this matter. After all, it would be a disaster for this entire area if this was the case since there was no telling what the bugs would do after this.

So that was why I had to go through with the rest of the plan before they could do that.

“Crack, crack.”

Everyone was surprised and confused when they heard this sound, but they were even more shocked when they saw what was causing this sound.

“What is going on?”

That was the only thing that anyone could say when they saw this since no one really had an idea of what was happening.

The ground that was around Death Valley seemed to be cracking and it seemed like it was completely cutting off Death Valley from the rest of the world. But this wasn’t even the most shocking thing that happened.

After the ground cracked, it was as if there was something that was lifting the ground up into the air. It seemed like there was some kind of invisible force that was picking up the entirety of Death Valley.

There were a few that seemed to react and wanted to go forward to see what was happening, but they soon backed down when they saw the black dots that were coming out of Death Valley.

It seemed like if they were to do anything now, the bugs would immediately attack them.

There was no telling how many there were, but they had an idea after being chased by those bugs.

After floating up so that it was above them, Death Valley stopped moving upwards.

It floated there for a few seconds before…

“Where did it go?”

No one was able to figure out what happened since Death Valley literally vanished from in front of their eyes. There were some that blinked in that moment and when their eyes opened again, they found that the entirety of Death Valley had completely disappeared.

There wasn’t a single person that was able to say anything.

After all, even if they wanted to say something, it wasn’t as if there was anything that they could say.

This was just too strange for them to process.
