Chapter 1980: Is it some kind of trap?

With how big this matter became, there was no doubt that it was reported.

But it was taken more seriously than normal since there were some that believed that this was some kind of trick played on them by the forces of Destruction.

That was why there was a meeting held for the representatives of the racial alliance.

With my position in the racial alliance, I had no choice but to join this meeting.

Though what I was going to tell them…it was hard to say since I didn’t know what I should tell them and what I shouldn’t.

In the end, they had to know a bit about what was happening since we would be fighting together in the future. However, it wasn’t as if I wanted to let them know too much about what I was doing.

There was no telling if something might happen in the future.

Especially since the entire racial alliance was still tense over the matter with Dorothy.

When the meeting began, it seemed like there were quite a few people that were tense about this matter. Though the reason that they were tense was different from the reason that I thought that it would be for.

The reason that everyone was tense was simply because they were worried.

What they thought was that this was some kind of trick that the forces of Destruction were using to take land away from us.

Though it wouldn’t make sense that they would do something to a place like Death Valley, it didn’t seem like they were in a rational mood. It seemed like they were more concerned about saving their own territories.

After all, we had struck at the outposts of the forces of Destruction.

We had basically taken away the territory of the forces of Destruction and forced them into hiding.

With the strange abilities that they had, it wasn’t strange if they wanted to take the land that we owned for themselves.

As for why they would start with Death Valley…

“It must be because they were experimenting and made a mistake. There’s no telling what kind of things those evil creatures are capable of, so there’s no way of telling if this isn’t some kind of mistake.”

“It has to be or else they wouldn’t have targeted a place like this.”

“This is the only thing that makes sense.”

The ones that said this were clearly trying to convince themselves as much as possible, but it was clear that those that weren’t convinced were worried about the same thing.

After all, there was just too little that was known about the capabilities of the forces of Destruction.

If we hadn’t chanced upon it, then we really wouldn’t have known about their ability to create folds in space like that to create outposts. There was no knowing what kind of abilities the forces of Destruction possessed other than this.

As such, it really was hard to feel safe when there was the unknown hiding out there.

The things that people feared the most were the things that they didn’t know anything about.

After all, there was no defending against the things that they didn’t know anything about.

An attack from the dark was always harder to defend against something that came from the light.

That was why all of them were trying to push this matter to find some way to protect themselves. They would be saying that it was for the benefit of the racial alliance, but the truth of the matter was that they were trying to get anything that would protect themselves.

The key to this was the fact that I kept receiving looks during this meeting.

Even when they were talking about things that shouldn’t have related to me, there were people that kept looking at me as if they were waiting for me to say something.

I understood right away what they were trying to imply with this since I was the one that had the most expertise in matters like this. If there was anyone that would be able to figure out something like this, I certainly would be the one that would be able to do this.

It was just that I remained silent the entire time.

“This kind of matter, we really should think of some kind of countermeasure.”

This time, they didn’t hold back at all as they said this and then looked at me specifically.

It was clear that all of them were trying to get me to take the lead on this matter, or at the very least say something that would provide a helpful suggestion. They really wanted me to do anything about this matter.

But I just remained sitting there with a calm look on my face as if I was ignoring them.

None of the other representatives from the big empires said anything either since they knew what they were planning to do. But they could see that I was remaining silent for a certain reason, which was why they didn’t do anything.

It really could be said that they knew me better than the representatives from the smaller countries.

Though that was mainly because they had worked with me more intimately compared to the representatives of those smaller countries. Normally, the representatives of those smaller countries wouldn’t even get a chance to see me.

The whole meeting went by like this until the representative from the Holy Empire finally said, “Alright, let’s stop the meeting there. It seems like we’re not getting anywhere, so let’s take a break and talk about this in the morning with a new perspective.”

The representatives from the smaller countries really didn’t seem happy about this, but there was nothing that they could say when the more important representatives just gave their silent agreement.

Most of them were still sour that they didn’t say anything to convince me to give my opinion.

Though when they looked at me, I knew what they were thinking.

They were giving me time to sort out my thoughts and come back to them with an answer.
