Chapter 1981: Defense test (1)
“I want to test something with you.”
“Eh, do we have to?”
Experiencing Queenie’s laziness firsthand really was a different feeling from when I was experiencing it second hand.
However, I had to admit that Insectum really was right about her.
Though it wasn’t as if I would back down on this matter since it was the solution that I had come up with to solve the problem from this afternoon. That was why as soon as dinner was over, I had locked myself up inside of this Death Valley.
What the bracelet allowed me to do was bring Death Valley along with me, but specifically it sealed Death Valley in a space that was inside of the bracelet.
That meant that with a single thought, I would be able to enter Death Valley.
Though to the outside world, they all thought that I was still inside of my room alone.
“You don’t have to do anything, just summon your bugs and give them the divine energy.” I said in a coaxing voice.
Queenie turned to look at me as if she thought that this was a bother, but I just calmly looked back at her without backing down. When she saw this, she knew that she had no choice but to follow the order that I gave her.
That was why it didn’t take long for the bugs to appear all around us.
When the bugs came out of the ground like this and created a black wall around us, I couldn’t help being taken aback. Even if I knew that it was going to happen, it certainly wasn’t a sight that was easy to get used to.
Even if I saw it a hundred times, it would be hard for me to get used to something like this.
That was why I had to take a moment to gather myself before I could face this wall that appeared in front of me.
Looking at the wall, I suddenly said, “I know that your ability is more focused on defense rather than offense, so I just want to know how strong your defenses are.”
Queenie looked at me with a surprised look before saying, “Well, I’ve never really tested the extent of the defenses before.”
This wasn’t surprising since she wasn’t someone that would go out looking for trouble.
Even the barrier that had suppressed all of that corruption energy that had been gathering in Death Valley had been created by Insectum. It was through the connection that Insectum had with the bugs that Queenie created that it was able to channel divine energy into them and create that barrier.
But since Queenie was the messenger of Insectum, that meant that she should be capable of doing this as well.
“Then let’s try it now.” I said in a firm voice.
Queenie didn’t really seem happy to hear this, but there wasn’t anything that she could do when I looked at her like this.
In the end, there was still the respect that I received as the chosen one of the gods that the god’s messengers gave me. But there was a part of me that wondered if this was something that she wanted personally or if it was forced on her.
After all, it really looked like she didn’t want to do anything.
After a while, there was a change that came over the bugs that were around us.
There was this faint light that appeared around each of these bugs.
Even without seeing the light, I could already guess what this was since I had felt something familiar coming from them before this light even appeared. I knew that this was the divine energy that I told her to imbue into the bugs that she summoned.
With this divine energy in them, it would certainly work as a barrier.
Only seeing them like this, I couldn’t help feeling disappointed.
That was because I had seen the barrier that had been created by Insectum.
That barrier was on a completely different level compared to the one that I’m currently seeing.
However, it seemed like Queenie was already satisfied with the barrier that she created since it didn’t seem like she was about to increase the power of this barrier.
This barrier really wasn’t that good since it was just divine energy that had been pushed into the bugs. The bodies of the bugs would take the main brunt of the attack even though they possessed divine energy.
For Queenie who would be able to create more bugs, this didn’t really seem like a problem.
If the bugs that she used as part of the barrier died, she would be able to spawn more.
That was just the mindset that one would have if they were a queen of all of these bugs.
However, this was far from being enough for me since this barrier wouldn’t serve the purpose that I wanted it to serve. I needed something that was much stronger than this if I wanted to solve the problem that I was currently facing.
As for facing Queenie who would complain about being forced to work, that was better than facing those representatives from the racial alliance.
That was why I walked over to Queenie and slapped her on the back before turning her back around.
Queenie looked at me with a surprised look as if she couldn’t process what I had just done. However, it didn’t seem like the elite guards were about to do anything to me even though I had technically assaulted their queen.
It seemed that they had already received orders to not interfere in matters between me and her.
Well, that was unless I posed a real threat to Queenie’s life, but it wasn’t as if I was going to do something like that.
While she looked at me with this confused look, I said, “This is far from enough. It seems like we’re going to have to train quite a bit until I’m satisfied with the level of barrier that you release.”
