Chapter 1982: Defense test (2)
Queenie had a very ugly expression on her face, as if she would rather do anything other than this.
However, I was forcing her to train with me since I needed her to use her powers better.
I needed a barrier that was at least half as strong as the one that Insectum used previously.
I knew that Queenie was capable of this since she was Insectum’s messenger, which meant that she would have access to the powers that they gave her. She would be able to create a barrier that was at the same level as the one that I had seen previously.
Though I wasn’t going to force her to go that far.
For now, I would force her to train until she reached a level that I was satisfied with and no amount of complaining would get her out of this.
It was just that it didn’t seem like forcing her was going well.
Though she went along with what I was saying, there was no motivation behind it at all.
Well, it wasn’t as if one could expect any proper results when someone was being forced to train like this. The fact that there were any results at all was already more than enough in normal cases.
After all, that would have been enough to prove that she had the talent for this.
It was just that this wasn’t a normal case and there really wasn’t any time for this.
Since she had the talent, that meant that she would be able to keep up with the things that I’ve prepared.
So in the end, I chose to use a more drastic method.
“Alright, I get that you have no motivation at all.” I said with a sigh all of a sudden.
Queenie looked surprised when she heard me say this, but then there was what seemed to be a faint smile that appeared on her face. I wasn’t 100% certain since it wasn’t as if I could read bug faces, but it really wasn’t hard to guess what she was feeling in this situation.
Of course, I wasn’t just going to let her keep feeling satisfied with this.
“Since that’s the case, it seems like the only thing that I can do is give you motivation.”
Queenie didn’t seem to understand what I was saying at first, but it was hard to misunderstand when I took out the thing that I was going to use with her training.
The moment that Queenie saw this, there was a strange look that appeared on her face as she slowly asked, “What are you planning to do with this?”
“What do you think I’m planning to do with this?” I asked her in a calm voice.
“You wouldn’t do that…This is your relic that you would be releasing it in. It wouldn’t benefit you no matter how you look at it.”
The way that she said this was almost as if she was bargaining with me.
It was just too bad that I didn’t really bargain.
“This is weak enough that I can take care of it if I want, but I don’t think that it’ll be that easy for you to deal with. If you want to protect yourself, you’ll have to do something to protect yourself.”
There was an ugly look that appeared on Queenie’s face when she heard this.
She might have been lazy, but she wasn’t a fool.
It was easy for her to figure out what I was trying to force her to do and what she would have to do.
“Wait, I’ll be more serious. Just don’t do that…” She looked like she was giving up, but I knew better.
“Show me.” I said in a cold and uncaring voice.
Queenie looked like she was about to cry when she heard this, but there was nothing that she could do.
The next moment, all of the bugs suddenly started to move.
The bugs that she had used previously had all grouped up together to form a physical wall.
The part of the barrier that she was improving on wasn’t the actual barrier itself, it was just the amount of divine energy that was inside of the barrier.
Now, she was trying to actually improve the barrier.
Queenie naturally knew what I wanted her to do, but she had avoided doing it until now.
It was just that this wasn’t something that was that easy to pick up.
Or it was better to say that she didn’t have the same ability that she had in the past.
With how quickly she had picked it up, I thought that it was just talent alone. But when I looked closely, I saw that it wasn’t just talent alone.
There was a familiarity in the way that she used the divine energy, which wasn’t something that could have been done with talent alone. This was the kind of familiarity that couldn’t be gained unless this was something that was done before.
So it was clear that Queenie had wielded this kind of power in the past.
The problem was that she had been lazy and had completely lost the skills that she once had. Or else it would have been easy for her to reach the level that I wanted her to reach.
In the end, it could only be considered the consequences of her own action.
After the bugs spread out a bit, there was a barrier of divine energy that was formed.
What was happening was that each of the bugs were being used as a conduit for divine energy and that divine energy was being released around them. Once that divine energy was released around them, it took the form of a barrier.
With all these different bugs like this, it was supposed to form a strong barrier as long as the divine energy was properly controlled.
The problem was that Queenie didn’t have this control.
That was why once the bugs moved far enough from each other, the barrier that she had been trying to form suddenly had cracks in it.
Once the cracks formed, it didn’t take long for the entire barrier to shatter.
