Chapter 1987: More experiments (1)
Queenie didn’t seem happy when she saw me enter this space.
It wasn’t the disrespectful kind of unhappiness that was on her face, it was just that she looked like she was afraid that I would make her do more work.
Though this was indeed what I was here for.
Before this, I didn’t really have a space that I could test things out in since there was no telling what would have happened.
But now that I had obtained this relic that had an enclosed space like this, there really was no better place to test things.
At the same time, what I wanted to test was related to the barrier that she was able to put up.
So there was no getting out of it for her.
“I just want to test a few things, I’m not going to make you do the same thing as last time. You deserve a rest after what I put you through.” I said in a comforting way, but Queenie looked at me with doubt in her eyes.
I couldn’t help shaking my head with a faint smile seeing this, though this could only be considered the consequences of my own actions.
It was only because I put her through all of that that she was treating me like this now.
“Just give me a few bugs that can put up the barrier and you won’t have to do anything else.”
Queenie still looked at me with doubt, but there was that contract that was between us so she couldn’t just say no. In the end, Queenie still accepted my request and summoned a few bugs out for me.
Once she summoned the bugs, they would be able to release the barrier on their own.
Though it would require her to inject her divine energy into the bugs before she summoned them. After they were summoned, they would draw on this divine energy until they completely ran out of divine energy.
This was the problem that we were trying to solve at this point.
Or rather I was trying to solve it since I had promised the other countries that I would find a solution to this issue.
I said that we would provide the barrier and the divine energy that was needed to power it, but only half of it was true. After all, it was easy to send them the bugs filled with divine energy to create the barriers.
It was hard to refill the divine energy since there wasn’t anything that could carry it.
Which was what I was testing right now.
The first thing that I did was let the barrier run until the bugs were out of divine energy.
This was actually quite easy since it wasn’t as if each bug was able to contain much divine energy in the first place.
Once they were out of divine energy, the barrier just disappeared.
I didn’t reach out towards the bugs to inject them with more divine energy, but instead I looked at Queenie.
She had her back turned to me, but I could see her tremble when I looked at her. She was connected to the bugs that were near me, so it was only normal that she would see that I turned to look at her.
“What is it?” She slowly asked as she turned around.
“Can you release some more divine energy?” I said it in a calm and friendly voice, but it didn’t seem like Queenie trusted me at all.
So I just asked, “Is it possible for your bugs to transfer divine energy between each other?”
She looked at me as if she couldn’t believe that I was asking this at first. Then she shook her head and said, “No, they can’t do something like that. The divine energy can only be passed through a connection with me since I’m the one that it comes from. If they try to share the divine energy between them, it’ll disappear without passing through each other. They can’t control what I give them, they can only release it as I direct them to.”
I figured that this was the case since divine energy was like that.
It was a special form of energy that only those that were chosen would be able to use.
It was a special form of energy that only gods possessed after all.
So instead of trying to get the bugs to pass on the divine energy themselves, I took out a bunch of things that I surrounded Queenie in before asking, “Then is it possible for you to inject divine energy into these things?”
Queenie looked like she wanted to reject this, but then she stopped herself as she looked at the different things that were around her.
The way that she looked at them was as if she was looking at a treat.
I didn’t say anything since I knew that I had to find a way to motivate her to help.
Some of the things that I brought out weren’t actually things that had a chance of absorbing the divine energy. They were things that were considered a treat for a bug like Queenie.
After looking around for a moment like she was hesitating over something, I added, “If they don’t work out, then there’s no point in keeping them. If they don’t work, then you’re free to have a snack.”
At this, Queenie’s eyes lit up.
Though in the end, she acted as if she was reluctant to help out still as if she didn’t really want to do this.
That was why I took out a few more things.
These were duplicates of the treats that she wanted to eat.
I knew that it would take more than just a few treats to bribe her.
When Queenie saw this, her attitude changed as she turned to look at the first thing that I wanted her to try.
Only the moment that she injected her divine energy, something completely unexpected happened.
