Chapter 1990: A different kind of place

“Your majesty, welcome to our kingdom.”

This was a different place from all of the other places that I had gone to.

This place was the capital city of one of the countries in the racial alliance.

It wasn’t a small country either, it was one of the human countries that was just under the four empires.

A place like this was completely different from the rest of the places that we had gone to, which was why it was so surprising that this was the place that the last god’s messenger was hiding.

It was also the reason why I had left this place for last since there was no doubt a lot of commotion that would have been raised by me coming to this place.

Such as what was happening right now with the people that came to welcome me.

The way that I traveled was in the middle of a pack of wyverns and at this point, wyverns were something that the Kite Kingdom was famous for. So with the royal guards escorting me like this, it really was hard for me to hide my identity.

That was why there was this royal welcome that was put on.

“I’m just here for some personal business, so I hope that you won’t make a big deal out of this.”

Though I said this, I knew that it was impossible for them to actually follow this.

This was just how it was with my current position in the racial alliance. It wasn’t something that would change any time soon, so I just had to accept that things were like this.

“Of course, your majesty. But before that, our king has already prepared a banquet to welcome you.”

I couldn’t help giving a secret bitter laugh when I heard this, but I had them lead the way forward to the castle in the end.

While this was happening, there were many attempts by them to talk to me.

Though each time, I just gave a casual response without seeming like I was even listening to what they were saying. This made it hard for them to try and continue any conversation that they were having with me.

It wasn’t as if they dared to show their displeasure at the fact that I was doing this since there were things that they wanted from me.

Since there were things that they wanted from me, it was only natural that they would do what they could to get in my good books.

Only I didn’t care about that at all.

The only thing that I cared about was looking around this place to see if there were any signs of what I was looking for.

It was just that there really weren’t any signs at all.

From what I could see, this place seemed like any other country.

Actually by looking closely, I could see that this place was actually doing better than the other countries. With just a few glances, I could tell that this place was quite the abundant place.

There were all kinds of goods that were on sale and the people all looked healthy.

With my senses, I would be able to tell if there were others that were hidden in alleys and such. It was just that there really weren’t that many impoverished people in this place at all.

There was no way that they wouldn’t be any beggars at all, but this place really did have a low number.

It was even lower than our Kite Kingdom, which had become very prosperous with the hard work of the prime minister and Haley.

Though it did make sense that this place was like this since it was one of the strongest countries under the four empires, this place seemed a bit too uneventful. It was almost as if there was something unnatural about this place, only I didn’t know what it was.

There was a part of me that couldn’t help feeling ashamed that I was disappointed that this place was prosperous and peaceful, but it was harder to shake the larger feeling.

“Perhaps there really is something guarding this place?”

However, I wasn’t able to find a single trace of divine energy even though this thought passed through my mind.

Following the main road for a bit, we finally arrived at the palace of this kingdom.

In front of the palace was a bunch of people that seemed to be waiting for us.

From the way that they were dressed, it was clear that they were nobles and important officials of this kingdom. But even then, all of them stood out here waiting for me to arrive.

It didn’t seem like any of them minded at all that I had kept them waiting all this time.

I couldn’t help shaking my head seeing this, but I wasn’t against the banquet that they were holding.

After all, they were the ones that had been living here the entire time.

Since I wasn’t able to find anything, the only thing that I could do was ask the people that had been living here about this place. If I was asking people, there really was no one better than the local nobles since they were the ones that were the most educated about this place.

Though I did have to be careful about this.

If I were to ask too many questions, then they would misunderstand my intentions.

Too many questions and they would think that I had ulterior motives. They might even think that I was planning on invading their kingdom or going as far as doing something to them with the racial alliance.

So this banquet really was the best opportunity for this.

After walking in, I could see that there were even more important people that were waiting for us.

Though the one thing that I didn’t like was how many young women there were.

With all of them dressed up like this, it was hard to misunderstand just what they wanted from me.
