Chapter 1991: An interesting history
As the guest of honour, the first person that I met was naturally the most important person in this place.
The first one that I met was the king of this kingdom.
This kingdom was known as the Solar Kingdom, but the surname of the royal family had a completely different tone from the name of the kingdom.
The royal family was the Lune Family, which should have represented the moon.
King Lune had a wide smile on his face as he greeted me, but I didn’t let my guard down while this was happening.
After all, I knew that the reason that they were acting this way was all because they wanted something from me.
This was just how it was when it came to royalty from other countries.
No, this was just how it was in both worlds that I had been in.
When someone acted like this, there was no doubt that there was something that they wanted from you.
It didn’t take long before King Lune exposed his real goal.
“I’ve heard that there were these barriers that you developed during this time. I know that you’re still in the process of developing them, but I was hoping that we could talk a little about them.”
While he said this, the nobles that were around us seemed to become a bit quiet as if they were trying to listen in on our conversation.
I knew what they were trying to do as soon as they did it, but I didn’t say anything on this.
Instead, all I said to King Lune was, “It doesn’t seem like the appropriate place to discuss this. I think that we should wait for a better time to discuss this in private.”
The disappointment that came from the nobles was obvious when they heard this, but it wasn’t as if there was anything that they could do about this.
If I didn’t want to talk about it, it wasn’t as if they could force me to do so.
At the same time, this was an answer that King Lune was satisfied with.
After all, it wasn’t as if I was completely rejecting his request.
I was just waiting for a better time to discuss this with him, so there was still the chance that I would agree with what he was asking for.
For now, that was enough for him.
Once it seemed like he was satisfied, I changed the topic by asking, “This is my first time in this Solar King of yours and I was wondering, could you tell me a bit of your history?”
King Lune seemed surprised that I would ask something like this, but then a wide smile appeared on his face. There was even a trace of pride that appeared in his eyes as if he was more than happy to talk about this.
It seemed like he wasn’t the only one that had this reaction.
The nobles around us all seemed like they were proud to a certain extent of this Solar Kingdom.
I couldn’t understand why they had this reaction, but if they were willing to tell me what I wanted to know…it wasn’t as if there was anything wrong with this.
“I’m very glad that you requested this, let me tell you all about this.” King Lune puffed out his chest a bit as he started telling the story.
As he told his story, there was a part of me that really wanted to tell him to get to the main point.
I understood that he was proud of his kingdom’s history, but the way that he told this story really was just too long. It was as if he wanted to make sure that I knew every single detail behind this story with the way that he told it.
It really made me want to slap him right across the face, but I was able to hold myself back in the end.
Though the way that he told this story was something that really made me want to tear my hair out, the content of the story was something interesting.
I understood why they were proud of the history of their kingdom.
After all, their kingdom was one that had been founded by a hero.
It wasn’t that the founder and first king was a folk hero, he was a true hero that had been chosen by the gods. This was represented by the sword that had been passed down through the royal family for generations.
With this sword, he had driven away all the monsters that had been in this land and formed this kingdom.
So they were able to call themselves the descendants of heroes.
“So can the current royal family still use the sword of the founder?”
The moment that I asked this question, there was an awkward look that appeared on King Lune’s face.
It wasn’t just King Lune that revealed that awkward look, all of the nobles in this place couldn’t help revealing that same awkward expression.
Just from this, it was very easy to tell what they were thinking.
“Even if the founder was a hero, that didn’t mean that the descendants would be the same. It seems like there’s no one that’s capable of using this sword that was passed down to them.”
I didn’t really mind that no one was able to use this sword since I didn’t think that this sword was as simple as they made it seem.
If it was a relic, then the Holy Empire would have noticed it a long time ago and would have done something about it.
Instead, it seemed like there was something else that had created this sword and passed it down to the founder of this Solar Kingdom.
“If possible, can I have a look at this sword?” I asked in a tentative voice without expecting anything.
It seemed like for a moment King Lune was hesitating, but he shook his head in the end and said, “This is the relic of our royal family and not something that we can show to just anyone. Even if it is your majesty, I’m afraid that this isn’t possible.”
