Though the village chief said this and had shown a confident smile, it wasn’t as if the village chief knew what he was doing.

He had no idea who this person was, but he knew that his rank wouldn’t be low if these nobles were acting this way around him.

Yet this kind of person actually wanted to see the sights of a random village like theirs…

As the village chief was guiding them around, he couldn’t help feeling as if his neck was in some kind of noose. It really felt like if he made one wrong move, then it would be all over for him.

The main reason for this was the pressure that was coming from the nobles.

It was clear that the nobles wanted to keep the person that asked this happy, so they were putting this pressure on the village chief.

If that person showed a single sign of being displeased, the village chief knew that he would be in for it.

“These are our fields as you can see. We’ve worked hard to make sure that they grow as well as they have.” The village chief didn’t know what to do, so he was starting to introduce whatever he saw as if it was some kind of specialty of the village.

Though strictly speaking, it wasn’t as if fields weren’t considered a specialty of a village.

It was one of the things that defined a village in the first place.

However, it was clear to the nobles what the village chief was trying to do and they all glared at him because of this. Feeling the glares of the nobles, the village chief really wanted to cry.

But in the end, I said, “They really are quite lush. Can I take a closer look at them?”

It wasn’t just the village chief alone that was surprised by this, the nobles also seemed surprised that I would be interested in crops like this.

After they heard this, there was a part of them that seemed to be wondering just what I meant by this. After all, they didn’t believe that I was just interested in the crops alone.

They believed that I was interested in the crops for a different reason.

This noble was the one that ruled over the territory that this village belonged to.

Since their guest had taken interest in the land that was under them and the crops that grew there, it should be easier for him to negotiate for the thing that he wanted from said guest.

The other nobles naturally figured this out as well and looked at that noble with envious looks, but it wasn’t as if there was anything that they could do about this.

I just ignored them since I didn’t feel like correcting them.

They thought that I was interested in the crop itself, but that wasn’t the case.

How could I be interested in this crop when it was nothing more than regular wheat. Even if it grew well, it wasn’t as if it would be anything more than wheat.

In our Kite Kingdom, there were already countless crops like this that I could get whenever I wanted. So there was no way that I would be interested in something like this.

What I was really interested in was how well this wheat was growing.

It wasn’t just the wheat that I was interested in, it was all of the crops that were in this area. After all, all of them seemed to be growing at a rate that was much better than any other plant in any other country.

It was clear that there was something special about this place that was causing the plants to grow this well, which was why I couldn’t help trying to figure out what it was.

However, it didn’t seem like I was able to pick up anything.

When I used my mana sense, there was nothing that came back.

When I used my divine energy sense, there was also nothing that came back.

Even with my eyes, I wasn’t able to find a single thing that was different about this place.

It really seemed like there was nothing different about this environment compared to all other places.

When I looked closely, I could even tell that the conditions of this place were a bit poorer compared to the conditions of other places.

During my time working with the prime minister on our crop reforms, I had gone to different places to study things like soil conditions and such. That was how I was able to tell that the conditions of this place were poorer than normal.

“Just what is it that’s letting them grow like this? No matter how you look at it, there’s something off about this place. It’s strange that no one has noticed it for so long…” I couldn’t help thinking this as I studied this place.

Seeing that I was silently looking at the plants, the village chief and the nobles eventually became nervous. After all, I was just looking at the plants without saying a single thing.

It was one thing if I was just looking at them, but the way that I looked at them showed that I wasn’t looking at them with a normal gaze.

It was as if I was carefully studying them.

Eventually, the village chief asked, “Sir, is there something wrong with the plants?”

The nobles didn’t say anything, but the way that they paid attention to my reaction showed that this was something that they were worried about too.

“It’s nothing. I was just admiring the colour of these plants.” I said with a casual smile as I realized my mistake after hearing what the village chief said.

They all looked at me with strange looks when I gave this answer, but no one questioned this in the end.

I just moved us forward with the village tour instead of drawing more attention to the plants.
