Chapter 2000: Entrusted legacy

I raised a brow to look at the phoenix when it said this, but it seemed like there was something else that the phoenix was interested in as it suddenly turned around.

The phoenix went over to the sword that was on the stand and then seemed to enter the sword once more.

When I was just standing here alone, I couldn’t help feeling a bit awkward.

It was a good thing that this didn’t last long as the phoenix appeared once more.

Though when it appeared this time, it seemed like there was something else that came out with it.

The energy that formed the phoenix seemed to separate from it to take the shape of a sphere beside it.

When it finished forming, I could see that it was indeed a sphere. Only it didn’t seem like this was a thing that was formed from energy.

With how the energy condensed, it seemed to turn into a thing that was actually made of real material.

It was hard to understand how this happened, but I didn’t think too much about it.

After all, I could sense a strange sensation coming from the egg that had suddenly appeared.

It was as if there was a raging flame that was burning inside of this egg. It was as if there was endless power that was coming from deep inside of this egg.

From this, I could tell that what was in this egg was anything but normal.

Though thinking about who it was that had condensed this egg, it wasn’t hard to guess what was inside of it.

The only thing that I was confused by was why this phoenix had chosen to give this egg to me.

It was as if the phoenix could guess what I was thinking as it said, “Even if I want to be bound to this place and end my life here, that doesn’t mean that I want the same for my child. That’s why I want to entrust them to you to take care of.”

My brows slightly knit when I heard this.

It wasn’t as if I didn’t understand the hidden meaning behind the phoenix’s words, it was just that I was surprised that the phoenix would say something like this.

“Are you sure of this?” I couldn’t help asking in the end.

“Even though I’ve been with them for a long time and my power was passed down to them to the point where they can be considered my children, it isn’t as if I’m deluded as to how humans really are.”

I was once again surprised that the phoenix would say something like this, but it wasn’t as if I was surprised.

Those that were capable of becoming a messenger of a god weren’t simple creatures.

So it wasn’t as if this phoenix would be blind to this.

With a sigh, the phoenix continued by saying, “If I were to leave this child to them, there’s no doubt that they would try to replace me with it. Even if I were to tell them not to, I know that humans are like this.”

A wry smile appeared on my face when I heard this.

After all, I was also one of those humans. However, the phoenix was entrusting its child to me like this even after saying this.

It really was a strange feeling to be entrusted with something after hearing someone talk about humans like this.

“And what about me? I’m a human too.”

“You’re different.” The phoenix said without hesitation which made me knit my brows.

The phoenix saw this, so it added, “I know what you’re thinking, but I know that you’re different. After all, I’ve seen the things that you’ve done during the time that you have been here. You’re different from the other humans.”

A strange look appeared on my face when I heard this, but I didn’t know how to refute this.

The way that the phoenix said this seemed to have some kind of strange implication that really made it hard for me to refute this.

So in the end, I just said, “Alright, I’ll take care of your child for you.”

“Thank you.” The phoenix said in a simple manner.

I didn’t know what to say after hearing this, but it didn’t seem like there was anything else left for me here.

Only when I turned to leave, the phoenix suddenly said, “Wait, Holy Son, there’s one more thing that I have for you.”

I turned back to see that there was something else that was condensing beside the phoenix. When I looked closely at it, it seemed to be some kind of seal that was being formed.

“I can’t give you this relic and even if I could, it isn’t as if there’s much power left inside of this relic. That’s why I want to give you this last condensation of my power instead.”

After the phoenix said this, the seal that it created floated over to me.

It seemed like a button with how it was shaped, but I could feel the heat that was coming from it. It wasn’t hot enough that it would burn me, but it wasn’t cool to the touch either.

However, that was only the sensation that a normal person would have felt.

As I was holding this seal, I could sense the powerful energy that was stored inside of it.

It seemed like there was an endless amount of energy that was bubbling deep under the surface of this thing, though it wasn’t that big of an item in the first place.

But at the same time, I could feel a bit of weakness from this seal.

It was condensed using the last portion of the phoenix’s power, so it only made sense that there was this sensation that came from it.

I gripped that seal in my hand and gave a bow to the sword as I said, “Thank you.”

“I should be the one thanking you.”

When I looked up, the phoenix was gone.
