Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 2005: Stragglers

Chapter 2005: Stragglers
“You’re not joining in the fight.” Klein made sure that I knew this before letting us follow the monsters.
I knew that it was impossible for me to get involved in the fighting, but it wasn’t as if that was something that I wanted to do anyway. So it was easy for me to agree to his condition of not getting involved when they fought these monsters.
It was a lie to say that there wasn’t a part of me that wasn’t interested in testing my strength against these monsters, but it wasn’t as if goblins were exciting enough for me.
Though once upon a time, these goblins would have posed a very big threat to me, my subordinates, and my territory.
My perception had really changed over time, with the power and the position that I gained.
Following the goblins, we found that they made their way to a cave that was right on the side of a cliff. The strange thing was that this wasn’t a cave that was inside of the cliff itself, it was a cave in a hill that was on top of a cliff.
It was hard to imagine just where this cave led to with how there was the cliff behind it.
However, we didn’t really need to go that deep into the cave to see the goblins that were gathered there.
It wasn’t just goblins alone that were gathered here, there were also other monsters that were also gathered here.
It also wasn’t just one or two other types of monster that gathered, there were all kinds of different monsters that gathered in this place. Though when one looked closely, they could see that these different monsters weren’t actually gathering together.
What it was was nothing more than them using each other for protection, though they didn’t really care about each other.
The different types of monsters just gathered in their small groups without interacting with each other at all.
“These must be the remnants of the monster wave.” I calmly stated as I looked at these monsters in front of us.
Klein and the others nodded in agreement to this.
They could easily see that this was the case with how some of the monsters seemed like they were completely exhausted. There were even some that seemed like they were still recovering with how they were covered in wounds.
It seemed like these monsters had come from far and wide since many of these monsters weren’t even from areas that were around here.
Most of these monsters were from areas that should have been far away from this place.
So they must have had to travel quite far just to come to this place.
At the same time, it wouldn’t have been easy since the racial alliance had been sending people to take down these monsters.
We didn’t want a repeat of what happened last time, so we had been sending people to take care of these monsters to suppress them. For all of them to have come all this way, it certainly would have been hard for them.
“What is it about this place that’s drawing them in?” I couldn’t help wondering as I looked at all the monsters that were gathered there.
“We’re leaving.” Klein said in a firm voice.
I wasn’t surprised to hear this since it was dangerous just being here.
For him to have tolerated up to this point was already quite a bit of tolerance from him.
The problem was that he did have my weakness at hand.
If this were to be reported back to Rose when we returned, there was no doubt that I would be in trouble.
So I just gave a shrug and said with a nod, “Let’s go.”
There was no need for me to force this issue since there was nothing for me to gain.
At this point, it reached a level where we had to send an official subjugation force just to take care of them. If it wasn’t a subjugation force that was sent, then there would no doubt be casualties and monsters that would escape.
At the same time, it wasn’t as if I wanted to expose Klein and the royal guards to danger.
So I agreed to his suggestion and we were preparing to leave.
Though before leaving, I did have one thing to add, “Make sure that you keep a few people here to watch over this place.”
Klein just gave a nod as if he had already expected this and that this was what he had been planning to do.
After all, there was no telling what these monsters would do if we left them alone.
That was why we had to at least leave someone behind that could report on what these monsters did.
But before we could actually leave, it seemed like there was a commotion that was happening among the monsters. It seemed that there was something that caused them to suddenly stir.
“Please move back.” Klein said while drawing his weapon as if he was preparing for a fight.
However, I said, “Don’t do anything rash. We’re the ones that will be in danger if we do anything now.”
Klein gave a nod, but it was clear that he was prepared to make a sacrifice if the need came.
Of course, I wouldn’t allow him to do that.
Even if we did talk like that to each other, there was a reason why they were so loyal and followed me around like this.
Watching the monsters, we could see that there was something that came from inside of the cave that was causing them to act this way.
When I focused my senses on the cave, I could tell that there was this strange energy that was coming from it.
It was like mana, but it was energy that was also similar to…
“What is this thing?”
Klein looked at me with a confused look when I muttered this, but he was even more surprised to see that there was something glowing on my hand.
This thing had reacted to what was inside of the cave.
