Chapter 2008: Has its own awareness

I raised my hand as if I was going to catch the egg that was flying towards me.

But before reaching me, that egg suddenly came to a stop.

It just stopped there in the middle of the air and floated there in front of me.

With the way that it floated there, it was as if the egg was just looking at me even though it was an egg.

After a moment of silence, the egg suddenly started floating closer to me as if it was slowly approaching me. While it did this, I reached my hand out towards the egg as if I was going to grab it.

However, we didn’t get a chance to make contact as someone called out before this could happen.

“They’re coming.” Klein said from behind me, though technically it was from in front since that was the direction that we were going to head in. This was also the direction that the monsters were coming from after they had recovered from their daze.

Since there was no time for this, I quickly reached out to grab the egg.

The egg also didn’t resist at all as it allowed me to grab it and just seemed to rest in my hand.

The moment that I grabbed the egg, the energy that it had been releasing was suddenly cut off. It was as if the supply that it came from was shut off and it became a normal egg again.

I looked at the egg for a second before putting it away in my pocket.

After the egg was put away, I put my hand with the Mark of God on Joan’s forehead and there was a reaction that came from her own Mark of God. It didn’t take long before she had finished gathering the flames and she released it with a single breath.

The same thing as before happened where the flames suddenly wrapped around her like a layer of armour and she charged at the exit of the cave.

The monsters that had been chasing after us were shocked to find Joan, or rather the ball of flames coming at them like this.

When they saw this ball of flames coming at them, it seemed like they remembered what happened to the monsters that had come in contact with the flames. So as soon as they saw this ball of flames coming at them, they suddenly dodged out of the way.

However, there were those that seemed to have noticed something and they moved to the side.

The flames that Joan released were mainly concentrated in the front since this was used as a technique to charge. But at the same time, it was also because she hadn’t practiced enough to completely surround herself in concentrated flames.

This took a lot of concentration and control to do, so she was only able to really concentrate the flames in front of us. The flames that were on the side weren’t nearly as concentrated as the flames in front.

So they would be able to break through if they were able to focus on attacking her from the side.

I narrowed my eyes to look at the monsters that were coming from the side before raising my hand to gather my power to deal with them. At the same time, the royal guards were also having their wyverns prepare themselves to fight these monsters off.

However, there wasn’t a need in the end.

There was this strange sensation that came from my pocket before the same energy as before was released.

This was the energy that attracted the monsters, but this time it wasn’t being used for that.

This time, it seemed like that energy was concentrated as it was being released in a wave.

When this wave swept across all of the monsters that were coming at us, it pushed all of them away. The monsters just weren’t able to resist at all as they were pushed away by this wave of energy.

Though when it happened, there was a strange look on the faces of those monsters being pushed by the wave of energy.

It didn’t seem like they disliked this feeling…

However, I looked down at the egg that had floated out of my pocket during this time.

I knew that it could use that energy to move things since it was even doing it now by using that energy to keep itself floating like this. Though I didn’t think that this energy would be strong enough that it would be able to push away the monsters like this.

No, even before that, there was something else that caught me off guard.

“Are you self aware? Do you have your own consciousness?” I couldn’t help asking the egg while it floated there in front of me.

The egg didn’t seem to do anything at first when it heard me ask this, but then it suddenly started moving up and down as if it was nodding in agreement to this question.

Just that alone was more than enough to prove that whatever was inside of this egg had already formed a consciousness and was able to interact with the world outside. Even though it was still inside of this egg…

“What is this thing?” I couldn’t help thinking to myself in a confused manner.

No matter how I looked at it, this thing really didn’t seem like it was a normal egg.

“Your majesty, we need to leave now. They’re coming back to their senses.”

I was snapped out of my daze by Klein’s words and turned to look at the monsters that were scattered around us.

They had been pushed by the energy that the egg released, but it wasn’t strong enough to actually hurt them. Most of them had only been dazed as they had been pushed back by this energy, it wasn’t as if this would be enough to stop them.

So I had Joan gather her flames once more as we charged out of this cave.
