Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 2011: Too much of a good thing

Chapter 2011: Too much of a good thing
Before the orc could reach the qilin, there was another layer of strange energy that stopped it.
A wide smile appeared on the face of the orc when it was being stopped like this. It was as if it enjoyed being trapped like this.
Though I did know why they felt this way since I could see the changes that were happening with their bodies.
It seemed like a matter of time before they would be able to reach the next level of their evolution whatever that would be.
The problem was that they would also become much stronger if they were to reach that next level in their evolution. It would be dangerous to allow them to keep growing stronger like this.
That was why I raised my hand to prepare to attack.
It was better to take them down before anything could happen.
Or that would have been the case if not for a voice that came in my head.
“Let me take care of them.”
I didn’t know where this voice was coming from at first, but then I realized that it was coming from the thing that had just hatched. It was coming from the qilin that was under me who was looking up at me.
I was right about the egg having its own awareness, it was just that I didn’t expect the qilin to be able to communicate as soon as it came out of its shell.
It really was strange communicating with this thing that had just hatched a few minutes ago.
Though I had some doubts about what the qilin would do to take care of these orcs, I didn’t say anything in the end. There was a part of me that seemed to just believe that the qilin would be able to take care of the orcs on its own.
That was why I waited to see just what the qilin would do.
It was strange, but there was a part of me that seemed to innately believe that the qilin would be able to do something even though this was my first time meeting it.
It was hard to describe what it was, but if I had to describe it…
It really felt as if there was some kind of connection between me and this qilin.
I didn’t know how this connection even formed, but it really felt like there was something that was there.
At first, it didn’t seem like the qilin was doing anything. At first, it seemed like the qilin was just observing the orcs that it was lifting up with the energy that it released.
But it didn’t take long for something to change.
It was that there was more energy that was being released by the qilin.
I couldn’t help slightly knitting my brows when I felt this as I had no idea what the qilin was planning to do. However, it soon made itself evident what the qilin was doing as the expressions on the faces of the orcs changed.
The expressions that they revealed at first was a look of pleasure that came from how they enjoyed the feeling of the energy filling them. But now it seemed like they were afraid of the energy and were even being hurt by that energy.
It didn’t really seem to make sense why this was the case, but there was no denying the signs when it was this evident.
“Squee!”
The orcs even screamed out in pain as if they wanted to escape the grasp of this strange energy that they had enjoyed just a moment ago.
While this was happening, it seemed like there were strange mutations that were happening to the orcs.
It wasn’t the same kind of mutations that had been happening to them previously.
Instead of mutating them in a way that would make them stronger, it was as if there were parts of them that were swelling up. It was as if they absorbed too much power and it was affecting them negatively.
What this all reminded me of was a balloon that had too much air and was getting closer and closer to popping under the pressure.
The orcs naturally didn’t want that to happen and they struggled against the energy that was binding them. It was just that no matter how they struggled, they weren’t able to break free of this energy holding them.
In fact, it seemed like they were losing more and more power the more time that passed.
It was clear that this was not a helpful mutation to them.
This was a form of mutation that went in the completely opposite direction.
I narrowed my eyes to look at the orcs in an attempt to figure out what this was, but it didn’t come to me until I remembered a saying in my past life.
Too much of a good thing wasn’t good either.
Such as those people that drowned themselves in gluttony or sloth…
One had to know their limits and shouldn’t be too greedy.
In the case of these orcs, they were being force fed the strange energy that would make them evolve, which was how they were evolving like this. They just simply couldn’t digest all of the energy that they were absorbing and were literally swelling like balloons.
After a long while, they finally blew up.
I had already expected this, which was why I had surrounded these orcs with a layer of ice before that happened. Which was why when they blew up, none of the chunks of the former orcs came in my direction.
After the orcs blew up, the qilin looked at me as if it was waiting for praise.
I couldn’t help looking at it with a strange look.
This qilin had just been born and it blew up these orcs like this without any hesitation.
It really was terrifying the way that the qilin had done this…
But the thing that I was most confused by was how there was a similarity in the strange energy that the qilin used to my own divine energy.
