Chapter 2021: Combined power

We watched Dorothy’s conditions for a few days and it was clear that she was getting better.

Since she no longer had the same dot on the back of the neck, we were able to let her move around the castle a bit more.

I still made sure that the god’s messengers accompanied her wherever she went, but at least she wasn’t trapped in the same room all day.

Not only did she seem to have more energy, it seemed like her control of the corruption energy became better again.

When she had that black dot on the back of her neck, it had actually made her corruption energy so strong that she hadn’t been able to control it properly. She had lost all of the training that she had done previously to control it.

Now that it was under control again, she was able to start controlling it once more.

Though the one thing that changed was that the qilin went wherever she went.

It seemed like the two of them got along quite well, so that wasn’t a problem.

The problem was that the qilin was slowly growing bigger and bigger with each passing day.

Even though it had just been born, it grew at quite the speed.

When it had first been born, it had been the size of a small dog.

Now it was the size of a large dog and was still growing with each passing day. It seemed like it would only take a while before it reached the size of an adult wolf and from there, it might even reach the size of a deer.

At the same time, there really was no telling how much it would continue to grow at this rate since we had no idea how big an adult qilin was.

At this rate, it seemed like it would even become as large as a horse.

If that happened, it really would be hard to keep the qilin inside of the castle…

But for now, it seemed like the two of them were working together well to keep the corruption energy inside of Dorothy contained. It seemed like that corruption energy wouldn’t develop to the point that it would be out of her control again.

That was why we came down to the training grounds to see what she could do now that she had suppressed that corruption energy.

We knew that it was impossible for her to completely get rid of that corruption energy, but it was still a good idea to see if she could control it.

This was her power, so it would be best if she was able to control it.

Though when she demonstrated her power, I couldn’t help knitting my brows.

It wasn’t because I thought that she would lose control again, it was that there was something else that was mixed in with the corruption energy. It seemed like the qilin had affected her in some way during their time together.

But that was strange since these two forms of energy should have been the complete opposite of each other.

So seeing them come together now seemed to defy what I had previously thought of.

“Can you let me have a closer look at this?” I asked Dorothy all of a sudden.

She had been in the middle of a big move, so suddenly speaking like this had caught her off guard.

When she came back to her senses, Dorothy looked at me with a confused look as if she was asking what I wanted to do. However, I didn’t say anything as I waited for her to show me this corruption energy that she was wielding.

In the end, she came over and gathered a ball of that corruption energy for me.

Looking at it, I was able to tell that it wasn’t as combined as I thought it would be.

With my senses, I was able to tell that there were two forms of energy that were here. However, it didn’t seem like they were actually mixing with each other.

It was more that they were just simply existing in the same position.

The main mass of energy was the corruption energy that this ball was made of.

However, at the edges of this ball, it seemed like there was this layer of divine energy that was there. Though it also didn’t seem like it was exactly divine energy since I could tell that it was a bit weaker than divine energy.

This was the strange energy that the qilin possessed that was in between mana and divine energy.

It did seem a bit stronger since the qilin had grown a bit, but it still hadn’t reached the level of divine energy just yet.

So in the end, it seemed like the two powers weren’t exactly combining. It was just more that one power was wrapped up around the other.

But the fact that they didn’t interfere with each other was already shocking enough.

At the same time, I could tell that there was a slight bit of interaction between the two forms of energy. It seemed like there was indeed something that was causing the two of them to interact.

For Dorothy to accomplish something like this, it was clear that there was something strange about her.

In the first place, it was already strange that she would have all this corruption energy.

After thinking about it for a bit, I decided not to focus on this too much.

Since it was able to suppress it, it was better than having nothing.

It was best to leave things as they were and let them develop how they would develop.

So that was why I patted her on the head and said, “Keep practicing. I can see that you’re getting better.”

Dorothy just revealed a wide smile when she heard this.

At the same time, the qilin raised its head as if it was asking to be patted as well.

I did that while shaking my head with a wry smile.

It was like getting another kid…
