Chapter 2024: You can’t hide it anymore

Once the patients were placed in these balls of pure water, it seemed like there was finally some change.

Once they were in these balls of pure water, the healing magic and potions that had been used on them seemed to finally have an effect.

With these things healing the symptoms they were experiencing, they were able to slowly recover.

It was a slow process, but it seemed like they were on their way to recovering.

The thing was that this wasn’t something that could be maintained forever.

This ball of water that I created was being kept up with my power, so that meant that I had to keep supplying power to ensure that the currents were being kept up. If I stopped supplying power for ever a second, then the currents would stop.

While the ball of pure water wouldn’t break right away, it would start being diluted by the water around it and it would return to the state that it was in before I had created this ball of water.

That meant that these patients would return to the same condition that they were in before.

Well seeing as how they were fine when they first left Aestum’s hidden domain, they shouldn’t relapse right away. It’s just that they couldn’t stay in a place like this since they would eventually reach the same state that they were in before.

Once their symptoms had been relieved, the patients slowly regained consciousness.

The moment that they regained consciousness, the first reaction that they had was…

“Get away from me!”

The fear that was in their voice as they said this showed just how afraid they were.

It was understandable that they would feel this way since they were in an unfamiliar place and they had been afflicted by an unknown disease.

Though that wasn’t the only thing that they were afraid of.

When one looked closely at the way that they looked at the mermaids that were around them, it was clear that they were afraid of them as well.

For these members of the other race, they thought that this was something that the mermaids had done to them.

They had the same thought as me that the mermaids had somehow poisoned them.

Or at least that was what I had thought before I used the kraken’s power to cure them.

Now that I knew what the cause of this was, I knew that it wasn’t actually the mermaids that had done this.

I remembered something that Aestum had said to me before I had left the Merman Empire last time. It was something that was no doubt related to what had just happened here.

“It seems like you can’t hide it anymore.” I thought to myself when I made this connection.

“Please calm down.”

When I said this, the members of the other races did slowly calm down.

They knew who I was and more importantly, they recognized the kraken that was still attached to my hand. This kraken was the representative of the one that had kept them safe all this time, so the influence that it had on them couldn’t be looked down on.

After they calmed down, I said, “You’ll have to go back home with me.”

These members of the other race didn’t seem to mind this at all. In fact, it looked like this was what they wanted as well.

The Merman King had a look on his face as if a part of him had shattered, but he knew that this was the best choice. If these members of the other races didn’t return, then there really was no telling what would happen to them.

If something did happen to them, it would be too late to do anything about it.

But I turned to the Merman King and said, “You should come too. There’s something that we need to ask them.”

The Merman King looked surprised and confused for a moment, but he gave a nod in response in the end.

With that, all of us went to the taboo zone.

The whirlpools had returned after we had left last time, but it wasn’t a problem since we had the kraken with us.

In fact, these whirlpools disappeared the moment that we arrived.

There wasn’t even time for the Mark of God to appear on my hand, the kraken had taken care of the whirlpools before that.

Once the whirlpools were gone, we quickly entered the taboo zone and I released the balls of water that I had created.

The members of the other races seemed a bit afraid when they saw this ball of water disappear, but they relaxed when they found that there was nothing that happened to them.

In fact, they felt even better than they had felt previously when they had the ball of water around them.

The look on their faces was as if they were saying, “There’s no place like home.”

In this case, that really was the truth.

Once I released those balls of water, I left them alone as I headed towards the throne statue that was in the center of this place.

While we were heading in that direction, I could feel a nervous feeling coming from the kraken.

Since I had drawn on its power, I had deepened the connection that was between us temporarily. That meant that I was able to feel the emotions that were coming from the kraken.

I narrowed my eyes to look at the kraken wrapped around my hand, but it turned away as if it was avoiding my gaze.

Once we arrived at the statue in the center, I found that there was already a blue ball of light that was sitting on it.

It seemed that Aestum already knew that we were here and had been waiting for us. But then again, Aestum was a god and it was only normal that it would be able to do something like this.

“You can’t hide it from us now. Tell us the truth.” I demanded in a firm voice.
