Chapter 2026: Can it create? (1)
It turned out that the sea witches were indeed ahead of the rest of the world when it came to certain things.
They were researchers and they researched all kinds of different things.
That meant that there were all kinds of things that they actually kept hidden.
This tonic that they talked about was one of those things and it certainly wasn’t a normal thing.
It turned out that the sea witches were quite insightful and had picked up on something that was quite amazing.
The body of any living being had to adapt if they wanted to stay alive. Which was why when they were ill, they would develop immunity to whatever had caused them to fall ill.
But for those that had never been ill before, they would be missing something that would allow them to develop immunity.
As such, they figured that there might be a way to transfer this immunity from one person to another.
“We call it tonic for short, but really it’s a blood tonic that we make from the blood of the one that has this immunity.”
I had a strange look on my face when I heard this since I knew what they were referring to. This was something that had happened in the history of my past life, but modern medicine had moved on from it.
It was surprising to hear that the sea witches had actually developed vaccines, though it was only blood vaccines that they were currently using.
Still, this was close enough to the allergy shots that I was thinking of.
In my past life, allergy shots would be used to slowly build up immunity to allergens.
While this wasn’t exactly the miracle method that would allow the other races to instantly become immune, it was still better than nothing.
However, there was still a problem.
Even if they had developed blood vaccines before, it wasn’t as if this was something that they could do without a base for. After all, the key part of the blood vaccine was the immunity that one had for the thing that they were creating the blood vaccine for.
While they knew that there was something about the water outside of this place that was harmful to the members of the other race, it would still take a long time for them to figure out what it was.
Then once they found out what it was, they would have to isolate the immunity that was in the blood of the mermaids to be able to make this blood vaccine.
All of this would take a long time to develop and it would take a long time to administer, so this wasn’t something that could be done that easily.
There was honestly no telling just how long it would take for them to do something like this.
The sea witches seemed willing to dedicate themselves to this research since it was something that they were interested in, but it didn’t seem like the Merman King was willing to wait that long.
After all, this was something that would without a doubt put a strain on the already tense relationship.
Since the members of the other races had returned in such condition and it had been witnessed by their families, there was no doubt that prejudice would have taken place in their hearts. They would think that this was something that was done by the mermaids to their comrades, which was why they were once again cautious around them.
Everything that had been done to relieve this caution had been undone by this and it would build up more and more until it would become something else.
That was why the Merman King really wanted to solve this issue as soon as possible.
It was only then that they would be able to fix their relations once more.
As such, he looked at me as if he was waiting for me to come up with some kind of solution.
This wouldn’t have made sense since I wasn’t a researcher.
Even if I had proposed the idea, it wasn’t as if I was someone that could develop something like this. Everyone that knew me already knew that this wasn’t within my skill set and wouldn’t ask me to do something like this.
But the reason that the Merman King was looking at me wasn’t for this.
It was because of what Aestum said.
Aestum had said that I had the power to change the fate of these people and it was unlikely that he meant just by coming up with the idea of vaccines.
After all, this was something that the sea witches had already come up with.
This was something that they would have been able to come up with eventually if enough time was given, though it certainly would have put a strain on their relationship that would have taken a long time to solve.
I couldn’t help thinking about what it was that I possessed that would solve this issue.
Aestum wouldn’t just say something like this without actually giving a solution.
There had to be a reason that Aestum had said that I had this power.
It was just that no matter how I thought about it, I really couldn’t think this through.
It didn’t seem like there was anything that would allow me to create a vaccine out of thin air…
“Wait, creation…” I suddenly muttered to myself before looking down at my hands.
As I looked down, I gathered the divine energy that was inside of me and looked at it carefully as it wrapped around my hand.
There was this strange thought that filled my mind that I didn’t want to accept, but the more that I thought about it…the more likely that it seemed to be the answer.
This was the only thing that I had that no one else had.
“Only would something like this be possible? This seems like something only a god would be able to do…”
