Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 2030: A bit hard

Chapter 2030: A bit hard
When I returned to the temple, the first thing that I noticed was the item that was beside me.
It was hard to ignore this item with the divine energy that came from it.
With how much divine energy that it released, it was clear that this was a powerful relic.
At the same time, there was a familiar sensation that came from the divine energy that this relic released. It was the sensation of the god that I had just met when I was pulled into the divine realm.
But that wasn’t the only thing.
Looking at it, it was clear what kind of relic this was based on the shape of this thing.
It was a trident, just like the one that the Merman King wielded.
Though with my sense for divine energy, I could tell that this trident seemed to be even stronger than the one that the Merman King had.
Was this Aquaron’s way of apologizing or was it them just simply trying to bribe me to be silent?
Regardless of what it was, it wasn’t as if I was going to stop what I had been planning to do.
Instead, I would take this relic and use it for what I wanted to use it for.
After picking up this relic and putting it away, I went outside to find that everyone was there waiting for me. The ones that seemed particularly anxious were the priests that watched over this temple.
It was clear that they had received some kind of oracle before I arrived and they had been waiting for me to tell them what happened.
However, they were not the ones that I wanted to talk to nor the ones that I wanted to tell this story to. There was only one person that I wanted to tell this story to first since they were the only one that could decide what to do with this.
Which was why I said, “I need to see the Merman King.”
The royal guards were surprised to hear this, but it also seemed like they had already expected this with how quickly they moved. They had figured that I would want to share whatever I found with the Merman King, which was why they had already been prepared for this.
As for the priests, I just ignored them as I headed to the royal palace.
Even with how they looked at me, I just ignored them all.
It didn’t take long for the Merman King to arrive back at the capital.
He had remained with the sea witches in that taboo zone because he wanted to watch over the other races, but he also knew that this was more important.
Once we were in this private room though, I didn’t speak right away.
There was a trace of hesitation that filled me since what I was about to say was something that would change the very foundation of the Merman Empire. If I were to say this now, it was likely that it would completely shatter the faith that the Merman Empire had in Aquaron.
But in the end, it felt wrong to keep this matter from the Merman King.
This was his empire and they were his people, it wasn’t up to an outsider like me to decide whether they should know or not.
Taking a deep breath, I said, “This is a bit hard to say, but I feel like you should know.”
The Merman King immediately knitted his brows when he heard this, but he still gave a nod to show that he understood.
When I was done with what I had to tell him, the look on his face said it all.
The ugly expression that he had and the way that he looked at me as if he was hoping that I was going to tell him that I was just kidding showed that this really was hard for him to accept.
However, I didn’t say anything as I calmly looked at him and waited for his response.
In the end, the Merman King could only give a sigh before saying, “You’re really dropping quite the bomb on me. What do you expect me to do with this?”
At this, I said, “I don’t know what you want to do, but this is for you to decide. It’s not something that an outsider like me should decide.”
The Merman King gave another sigh hearing this, but the look in his eyes showed that he was grateful for what I said.
Neither of us said anything as he fell into deep thought over what to do about this situation.
In the end, the Merman King suddenly said, “This isn’t anyone’s fault.”
I was completely caught off guard when I heard this.
After all, no matter how you looked at it, this was clearly Aquaron’s fault.
However, for the Merman King to say something like this…
The Merman King continued by saying, “Even gods can make mistakes. They might be gods, but they aren’t perfect.”
There was a strange feeling that filled me when he said this since I really had never thought this way before. After all, gods just seemed omnipotent to someone like me.
But if one thought about it, there were many things that went wrong with this world that the gods couldn’t control.
The one big thing was how the forces of Destruction were currently trying to swallow the world.
That was a big mistake on the part of the gods, but they were still doing what they could to fix it.
However, this did show that gods weren’t perfect…
“We’ll do our best to make up for the faults of our gods, that is the only thing that we can do as their followers.” The Merman King said in a firm voice that made me knit my brows once more.
The way that he said this was as if he was some kind of brainwashed follower.
But in the end, I didn’t say anything since this was his decision.
