Chapter 2041: Like a god

“Thank you for agreeing to this meeting.”

I gave a nod, but the look on my face wasn’t that good.

After all, this wasn’t a group that I wanted to meet that often.

It wasn’t that they were bad people, it was just that they were people that I couldn’t get along with.

It was hard for me to get along with them when they were all fanatical worshippers, but that was also the thing that made them powerful supporters. After all, they knew about my connection with the gods and their faith in the gods meant that they supported me with everything that they had.

But it was that same faith that really bothered me most of the time.

“Before anything else, we would like to get your opinion on one thing.” The pope of the Solista Religion said this with a smile, but this smile unnerved me.

I knew what he was talking about and I had been avoiding this matter for the longest time, but now he was personally bringing it up. If it was the pope that was personally bringing this matter up, it really was hard to ignore him.

Not to mention that there were all the other popes that were also here.

Since it was a meeting request from the Holy Council, I just couldn’t reject this meeting.

“Is there a need for that?” I asked with a bit of hope.

The pope’s expression changed immediately when he heard this before saying in a fanatical voice, “Of course there’s a need. This is an answer that we’ve been waiting for for a long time now. This is something that will decide an important matter in our Holy Empire, so we need to discuss this right away.”

With a sigh, I turned to look at the thing that their onsite representative was showing me.

Seeing this thing, a wry look appeared on my face.

After all, it wasn’t often that one saw a statue based on themselves.

This was something that they had sent recently when they found out about what I had been doing with the swords.

Once the Holy Empire heard this, this statue was apparently commissioned and sent over right away.

It seemed like they had put in quite a bit of effort making this statue as it was quite photorealistic, but I really wished that they hadn’t done that.

The popes didn’t seem to mind this vague answer as they all nodded with smiles on their faces.

Once they heard this, the pope of the Solista Religion said, “Then that’s good. That means that we can start installing the other statues.”

“Other statues? What do you mean by other statues?” I asked as soon as I heard this.

The pope of the Solista Religion revealed a wide smile as he said, “From the tales that we’ve heard, we have determined that the Holy Son has already reached demigod status. As such, it is only natural that we enshrine you in our churches.”

My face started to twitch the moment that I heard this.

I looked at him as if I was hoping that he was just kidding with me, but it was clear by the looks in their eyes that they weren’t kidding at all.

When it came to religion, these people really couldn’t joke around at all…

“Where are you installing these statues?” I asked in the end.

The popes suddenly stood up after I asked this and the image changed.

I hadn’t really been paying attention to where they had been calling me from, but now I realized that they were in a completely different place than usual.

When they changed their angle, I found that they were in a church that had a strange statue.

The moment that I saw this statue, a strange feeling filled me.

That was because this was a familiar statue, but it also wasn’t the same as the one that I had encountered before.

It was like the statue of the God of Creation that I saw previously when I received the inheritance, but it didn’t have the same spark as the other statue. This one didn’t have the same divine energy that the other one had.

However, this wasn’t the most important thing.

The most important thing was that in front of this large statue of the God of Creation, there was another statue that was there. It seemed like it was being installed as we speak.

This was the same statue as the one that they had sent me, but it was bigger than the sample they gave me. Though this statue certainly wasn’t as big as the large statue of the God of Creation.

With the way that they were installing it, it was clear that they were planning to worship this statue of me along with the statue of the God of Creation.

It was as if I was being treated like a god…

This wasn’t something that I ever wanted to be done, but now this was what they were doing.

They were all happily installing the statue, completely ignoring the look of horror that was on my face.

“Stop that.” I said in a firm voice, but it didn’t seem like they were listening to me.

In fact, I knew that they were able to hear me. So I knew that they were just deliberately ignoring me at this point so they could put this statue up.

If I was there in person, there was no doubt that I would have shattered that statue and tried to beat them up. However, there really wasn’t anything that I could do at this moment.

It seemed like I had to make a trip to the Holy Empire to take care of this matter…
