Chapter 2052: Underground world
After these lines appeared, I directed the royal guards to follow me.
We didn’t move in the direction of the array, but rather we moved in the opposite direction of the array.
I knew that this was the opposite direction since I could see the direction that the lines were running in.
They moved in a diagonal, which meant that there was a certain side that was smaller than the other side. The side that was smaller was without a doubt the inside of the array since these lines were pointed in the direction of the other nodes.
They were forming the lines of the array.
Since we didn’t know what this array was for, it was best that we didn’t stand on the inside of the array.
Even now, I could see that the lines were still continuing to grow further in the directions that they spread in.
Just how far were these lines going to spread?
Or the better question was, just how big was this array?
There was no telling how big this thing was going to become just by following the lines with our eyes.
That was when I turned to Klein to give an order, but I found that he was already on the move as he was already giving orders to the other royal guards.
The method that we had used to come here was the same method that we used to travel to other places.
Which was why the royal guards were already preparing the wyverns to take off once they received this order from Klein. They knew that the only way that we would be able to see the entirety of the array was if we flew up above it.
Since they already knew what to do, there wasn’t a need for me to say anything as I moved to get on Joan’s back.
Sometimes it really was good to have subordinates that were so skilled that they knew what to do before you even had to say anything. It certainly saved quite a bit of time in tense situations like this.
Once we got on our wyverns, we didn’t waste any time ascending to the sky.
Of course, we made sure that we flew directly up and not forward at all so that we didn’t enter the range of the array. There was no telling just what kind of array this was, so we had no idea if the range of the array included the area above it.
That’s why it was best to avoid it if we could.
After flying higher and higher, we were able to see more of the array and we could tell that this certainly wasn’t any kind of small array. With how far the lines were spreading, it really seemed like this was a large scale array that had been carved in this wilderness.
The thing was that it never spread further than this wilderness, as if it was concentrated in this place.
Seeing this made me think of something…
“Could this array be the cause of why this place hasn’t recovered and has remained a barren wasteland all this time? If that’s the case, then does that mean that this array is the thing that I’m meant to deal with?”
It was one thing to deal with the forces of Destruction or things that were related to the gods, but this array clearly was some kind of array that I didn’t recognize at all.
Even if I knew that it was related to the gods since it was using divine energy, that didn’t mean that I had any idea of how to get rid of it or what it would even do.
So I really was helpless in the face of this array.
But that didn’t come to pass as this array didn’t seem like it was being used to suppress this land.
After the array appeared in its entirety, I saw that there was something that was being concentrated in the center.
From the different nodes of the array, the divine energy was being sent right into the center of the array. However, that meant that there was something that was going to happen in that center of the array for all that divine energy to be gathered there.
Whether that was a good thing or a bad thing had to be seen…
After a while, it seemed like the divine energy was finally done gathering.
It was just that the result was a bit disappointing.
There was nothing spectacular that happened as there was just a bright flash of light that came from the center of the array.
That flash of light was as if something had been completed inside of the array, but we couldn’t see what it was from up here. Even with my sharp senses, I wasn’t able to tell what had happened down there.
After that single bright flash of light, it was as if the divine energy had been drained away by something.
Even without seeing it, I knew that it had to be whatever had appeared in the center of the array. That was the only thing that it could have been that would cause this array to disappear like this.
Only what would it be?
After a moment of hesitation, I waved my hand at the royal guards to follow me before heading down towards the center of the array.
When we landed on the ground, we found that there was something there.
It was something that we hadn’t seen before now because it hadn’t been there before. It was something that had only appeared after the array had been activated.
But for something that was created with that divine energy, it didn’t seem that special.
It was just a set of stairs that seemed to be leading down into the ground.
After a moment of hesitation, I decided to ignore my better judgement and the advice of the royal guards as I started to head down.
The passage wasn’t that long and soon we were able to see what was waiting for us.
“Is this an underground world?”
