Chapter 2055: Not fairies

As soon as I grabbed the rock, it seemed to go still once more.

It seemed that this rock was trying to play dead the moment that I grabbed it, but it was hard for it to act that way since I could still see its arms and legs.

Even though it wasn’t moving at all, it wasn’t as if I was fooled since I could see these features.

However, I was the only one that was actually seeing these features.

Klein and the others were still looking at me with strange looks as they had no idea what I was doing.

After a long moment of silence, Klein awkwardly said, “It certainly is strange that there would be a rock placed on a tree like this. However, it doesn’t seem that strange that it would fall out of the tree if it was left there like that.”

The other royal guards all nodded in agreement to what he said.

All of them were thinking the same thing, they thought that there was nothing special about this stone at all. They all thought that this was nothing more than a coincidence, even if it was a strange one.

However, I certainly wasn’t buying it.

That was because as they said this, I could feel a slight tremor from the rock in my hand as if it was reacting to what Klein and the royal guards were saying.

It was a very faint tremor, but I could sense it since I had been holding tightly on the rock.

This rock really had moved on its own and it had been part of the ones that had been watching over us. It was strange that I didn’t notice this before this since it should have been quite obvious with these strange arms and legs that the rocks had.

But at the same time, it did make sense that I didn’t find anything if they could blend in as rocks like this.

Perhaps it wasn’t just the rocks alone…after all, I could still feel the gazes that were coming from all around us. Even now, we were surrounded and we were being watched by something.

Whether they were rocks or something else, I had no idea at all.

At least I knew what to do if I wanted to make them show themselves.

“There’s no reason to remain hiding like this, just come out.” I said while ignoring Klein and the others. When they heard this, they just looked at me with even stranger expressions, but I just ignored them all.

Seeing that there was no response from the ones that were watching us, I raised the rock in my hand and gave a slight squeeze to it.

It didn’t feel like there would be anything that would change, but I could sense the movement from the rock. It seemed to react to the squeeze that I had used on it and it seemed like it wasn’t a good reaction.

Perhaps I had used too much strength just now…

In response to this tremble from the rock, the ground around us suddenly changed.

It seemed like I had provoked whoever was watching us as the ground started to shake.

There were all manner of stones that appeared around us and it didn’t take long before they surrounded us.

While Klein and the others had no idea what was happening, they did know that something was happening. It was only with their discipline that they were able to raise their weapons and their guards in the end.

I didn’t know what was happening, but I also knew that I could remain idle.

That was why I moved the rock to my other hand as I prepared to fight as well.

But the moment that the rock moved to my other hand, there was a reaction that came from the Mark of God. As soon as that reaction came from the Mark of God, it seemed like everything stopped.

The stones that had been approaching froze where they were and they acted as if they were stunned to see this.

After a long moment of silence, there was a voice that said, “Why do you have that?”

I had no idea what this voice was asking about, but I could tell that it was coming from the rock that was in my hand. Looking down at it, I found that there was a face that appeared on this rock that matched the arms and legs.

It seemed to be some kind of small creature that was completely made of stone.

“A fairy?” That was my first thought seeing this small stone creature, but I knew that this wasn’t the case since I had already met fairies before. I had even built a garden for the fairies to live in, so I met them quite often.

I knew that there was no such thing as rock fairies like this small stone creature.

So I had no idea what this thing was.

When I came back to my senses, I said, “I was sent here to help you. This Mark of God is my proof.”

I didn’t know what to expect when I said this, but it turned out that it was quite effective. The moment that I said this, all of the stones on the ground seemed to stand up and reveal their true form.

All of the stones on the ground seemed to be the same small stone creature as the one that I was holding.

This was the identity of the ones that had been watching us the entire time.

I wasn’t as shocked as Klein and the others as they looked completely caught off guard. They hadn’t sensed anything, so it was only normal that they would have this reaction when they saw this transformation.

Since I had prepared myself mentally a bit as I already knew this was coming, I was able to gather myself to say, “What are you? How long have you been living in this place?”
