Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 2058: Stronger connection

Chapter 2058: Stronger connection
The elder looked at me with an expression that could only be described as surprised and confused.
But even if the elder looked at me like this, it wasn’t as if I knew what they were saying.
There was a silence that lingered in the air for a bit before the elder finally said, “You really don’t know anything at all?”
A wry smile appeared on my face as I said, “I really don’t know anything about what’s going on. I have no idea what the rock elementals are or what this place is. I just followed an oracle from the gods and was told that I was supposed to help someone here, but I really have no idea what is going on.”
There was a strange look that appeared on not just the face of the elder, but the rest of the rock elementals that were with us.
It was as if they thought that we would already know everything about this place with how they looked at me.
But even if they looked at me like this, it wasn’t as if I was going to magically figure out what they were hoping that I would know.
So in the end, it was the elder that explained the situation.
“This place is a special place that was created by the gods for our rock elemental tribe after the war of the gods ended. It was our compensation for everything that we did to help the gods back during the war.”
I couldn’t help being completely caught off guard when I heard this. Then when I came back to my senses, I narrowed my eyes to look at the elder.
I never thought that I would ever meet someone that had lived through that time. But in the end, that was just nothing more than wishful thinking.
“Even if our rock elemental tribe have long lifespans, that doesn’t mean that we live long enough to have personally experienced that war.”
The elder seemed to read my mind from the way that I looked at them which made me feel awkward.
The elder just ignored this as they continued saying, “But nothing in this world lasts forever and even the power of a god fades eventually.”
Turning to look at the rock pillar, the elder said, “This pillar was the representation of the god’s powers in this place. It was what rejuvenated this place and kept it full of life for us, but now it has shrunk to this size…”
When the elder’s voice trailed off, I couldn’t help revealing a strange look.
I didn’t look at the elder, but rather at the rock pillar that was at the center of this village.
But I soon realized what the real issue was and looked at the real indicator of the change that happened in this place.
It was the circle around the rock pillar.
This empty circle around the rock pillar wasn’t a designation of a taboo zone, but rather it was a representation of how big the rock pillar had been previously.
Looking closely at the ground, I could see that there were signs of wear and tear there. It was as if there had been something dragged across that ground.
It was as if there had been something that had covered that ground before now and it had been removed.
It would make sense if it was the rock pillar.
It was just what did they expect me to do with this rock pillar?
I could sense the divine energy coming from it, but it wasn’t as if that alone would be enough to sustain this pillar. It wasn’t as if divine energy alone would create life.
Well, perhaps if it came from Vivrum…but it didn’t feel like this was what they wanted from me.
After a moment of silence, the elder continued by saying, “As for what us rock elementals are, we’re simply creatures formed from pure elemental energy condensed together.”
The way that the elder said this was as if this was something that everyone knew, but I just couldn’t wrap my head around it that easily.
This description could be said to be the same as a description of spirits, but I knew that it was different.
Spirits were immaterial and couldn’t be considered a condensed version of elemental energy.
The role of spirits was to guide the elemental energy that existed in the world, which was why those that contracted spirits were able to use elemental magic.
So when I thought about it, I realized that these rock elementals were indeed different.
Instead of just being there to guide the elemental energy, it was as if they were the very embodiment of elemental energy.
I hadn’t seen them use any power yet, but I guessed that they would be able to leave lasting effects on the world unlike spirits. After all, spirits only guided elemental energy in a way that made it work the way that they wanted it to.
But without someone controlling that power, it wasn’t as if it would remain forever since elemental energy would eventually return to nature.
It was only when the spirit was incredibly strong that it would change the world like in the case of the Spirit Kings.
In the case of these rock elementals, the village was more than enough proof.
After thinking for a bit, I turned my attention back to the rock pillar in the center of the village.
What rock elementals were exactly could wait since there was time to think about that later, what mattered now was what I was supposed to do here. Which meant that I should focus on the rock pillar which should be the reason I was sent here.
When I looked at the rock pillar, I couldn’t help feeling that there was something different about it.
There was the same connection that I felt with anything that was made of divine energy, but there was something else that was there.
It seemed like there was a stronger connection between me and this rock pillar…
