Chapter 2061: Area of control

The ceremony that they held wasn’t something that was done once or twice.

We had already spent several days here, though we did leave to bring in supplies since it wasn’t as if we could eat the same things as the rock elementals and it wasn’t as comfortable sleeping on rocks.

During this time, the rock elementals continued holding the ceremony again and again.

Each time, they did the same thing where they seemed to pray to the rock pillar before using the power of the rock pillar to create dirt that they scattered across the land.

The dirt just flew off in every direction and from what we could see after a while, it seemed like the dirt knew exactly where it was going. After all, the dirt moved out of the way when there was something in its path.

If there was something blocking its way, the dirt would move on its own as if it was being controlled by something.

If it wasn’t for the fact that it was divine energy creating this dirt, then it really would have seemed crazy.

But asking the rock elementals about it, the elder gave us an answer.

“It’s our power. We’re manifestations of elemental energy, so of course we can control the dirt.”

I looked at the elder with a strange look, but I didn’t question it in the end.

The spirits were able to control elemental energy, even if things did go back to the way that they were before the spirits intervened. It was only natural that the elementals would be able to do the same since they were also made from elemental energy.

As time passed, there was more and more dirt that was created and scattered all over.

However, it didn’t seem like the rock pillar was getting smaller because it was being used like this. Rather, the rock pillar was growing with each passing day because I was providing more and more divine energy to it.

I didn’t know how long it would take until it was considered a pass for the trial that I was taking, so I didn’t know how big I had to make this rock pillar before it was considered a success.

So that was why my goal was to make it as big as it was originally.

Though as time passed, I could see that there was less and less growth each day. After all, the diameter of the rock pillar was increasing and it would take more divine energy for it to grow.

Even I knew this kind of simple math.

Only this was worrying since it wasn’t as if we had all the time in the world to remain in this place.

It was only a matter of time before the forces of Destruction acted once more.

Still, it was good to see that the things that I was doing were having an effect on this place.

After that first day, I had looked around this place and found that there were indeed traces of death among the forest. It wasn’t in places that one could see openly, but when one knew what they were looking for, it was easy to find these traces.

Which was why it was clear that whatever the rock elementals were doing was having an effect.

From what we could see, the plants and animals were indeed slowly coming back to life and it seemed like they were coming back stronger than ever.

Though how that affected the rock elementals, we still weren’t sure.

After all, it wasn’t as if the rock elementals needed plants and animals to live since they relied on rocks in the first place.

“It’s the dirt itself that we need. We need a balance of elemental energy in our surroundings to draw on to live.” The elder explained this, but we were still confused on what exactly he meant by this.

But other than that, there was something else that caught my attention.

It was a faint sensation at first, but I could get it stronger the more that they performed the ceremony.

Every time that the dirt was sent off to the different corners of this space, I could feel that sensation becoming stronger.

It was a sensation of being able to control this space.

It was a strange sensation, but it felt like I was able to control the very dirt that made up the ground of this space.

But then again, it wasn’t that strange since I was the one that had charged the rock pillar that this dirt was made from. That meant that this dirt was technically created from my divine energy.

Though it shouldn’t have had a connection to me like this since it wasn’t as if I had been in control when this dirt was created.

In the end, it became so strong that it was hard to ignore.

With a wave of my hand, I was able to lift some of the dirt off the ground.

As this dirt floated in the air, I could feel all the different things that I would be able to do with this dirt.

Then with a single thought, I turned that dirt into a ball before splitting it up into smaller balls.

It wasn’t hard for me to control this dirt since there was that connection between us.

However, the more that I did this, the more that it felt like there was more than this simple connection.

It felt like as long as I spread the dirt out across this space…

When this thought passed through my mind, I stopped playing around with the dirt balls and converted the dirt back to its normal form. In this form, I spread the dirt around me as if I was creating some kind of veil with it.

But after the dirt was spread out around me like this, I could tell that something had changed.

With this dirt surrounding me like this, it was almost as if I had full control of this area.
