Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 2066: Forbidden act

Chapter 2066: Forbidden act
Once that first act of cannibalism happened, it was as if the lid had been opened on Pandora’s Box.
That first offender didn’t just attack a single other elemental, it started attacking the other elementals as well.
When that happened, there were others that joined in on attacking the other elementals.
But this wasn’t the only thing that they attacked.
Eventually, there were groups that were formed between those that had attacked each other and it seemed like there was conflict between them. It seemed like they all wanted to become the strongest elemental out there.
What they realized was that the stronger the elemental was that they absorbed, the more power that they received from that elemental.
So it didn’t take long for those that attacked others to wage war between their groups.
At the same time, they didn’t stop attacking those that didn’t attack others.
It seemed like it was becoming a vicious cycle of rock constructs attacking each other, all desperate to survive and become stronger. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before they completely destroyed their own race.
Seeing this, there was a part of me that understood why the elder had been hesitant about sharing their history.
This certainly wasn’t the kind of history that one wanted others to know about.
This was a bloody history that one would want to hide if they could hide it.
However, when I looked at the elder…
The way that the elder looked at me showed that this wasn’t all that they were trying to hide, “Just wait, you’ll see…”
I couldn’t even begin to imagine what could be worse than this, but I kept watching the rock constructs to see what the elder was talking about.
After a few more cycles of rock constructs attacking each other, I noticed that the scene changed.
There were still those large rock constructs that attacked others, but there were also those smaller ones that gathered together for safety. They seemed like a community that didn’t want to engage in the same methods as those large rock constructs.
It was just that it seemed like they knew that it was a matter of time before they were found.
With the way that the smaller constructs stood around, it was as if they were holding some kind of meeting. Though there weren’t any gestures or sounds that were made, so there was no telling what this meeting was about.
That was until one of them suddenly stabbed another rock construct.
“Betrayal?” I couldn’t help thinking to myself at first, but I soon realized that this wasn’t the case.
After all, the one that had been stabbed didn’t seem to resist at all.
The way that the one that had been stabbed looked at the one that stabbed it, it was clear that this was something that had been done willingly.
It didn’t take long for the power to transfer and that wasn’t the end of it.
Once the first rock construct disappeared, there was another one that was stabbed by the first rock construct.
Seeing this, it was clear that it wasn’t a coincidence.
The plan that they came up with in the end was…
“We had to do what was forbidden just to survive. That is the shameful history of our rock elemental tribe.” The elder confirmed what I had guessed in the end.
I just didn’t know what to say in response to this.
After all, it really wasn’t something that could be easily commented on.
This was something that they had done to survive, but the things that they sacrificed just to survive weren’t small. They had really been pushed into a situation where there was nothing left for them.
The only way for them to survive was to stoop to the level of those villains…
With the sacrifice of those willing to sacrifice themselves, they were able to fight back against those villains. Though it certainly wasn’t an easy fight for them even though they had gathered their power together like this.
The villains had been gathering power for a long time and had killed many rock elementals in the past, so it wasn’t as if just simply gathering power like this was enough.
This was a war that really seemed like it tipped on the balance as both sides kept suffering casualties.
What changed the war in the end was…a large figure.
This was different from the rock elementals represented by these rock constructs.
This was something that was much bigger than even the largest rock elementals.
“That was the beginning of our long relationship with the gods.” The elder explained when this large figure appeared.
I had guessed that this was the case, but it did help having the elder providing explanations from the side.
So it seemed like there was a long relationship between the rock elementals and the gods. It was most likely because of this that the rock elementals had even supported the gods in the first war.
Though it wasn’t as if the rock elementals had a reason not to support the gods in the first place.
The forces of Destruction aimed to destroy everything, so they would have lost everything if they didn’t help the gods.
Once that large rock construct that represented the gods appeared, it was as if the rock elementals had been blessed. All of a sudden, they overpowered the villains that had been suppressing them to a certain extent.
With the power of the gods, they were finally able to fight back.
By the end, they were able to stop those villains that tried to completely destroy the rock elemental tribe.
But the cost of this was the lives of countless rock elementals.
“This one incident had cut our rock elemental tribe’s population down to a tenth of what it had been in the past and brought our tribe close to the brink of destruction. But those that had received the blessings of the gods protected us until we were able to build ourselves up once more.”
