Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 2069: Giant corpse

Chapter 2069: Giant corpse
“You should have a general idea of what rock elementals are, but we aren’t naturally related to the gods like the spirits are.”
I couldn’t help raising a brow after this since this was something that I certainly didn’t know.
In the first place, it wasn’t as if I knew that much about spirits and elementals.
Though thinking back, the Spirit Kings had already shown signs of this with the way that they had interacted with the gods. Or else there wouldn’t have been a god that would have gone out of their way to scold a Spirit King.
It seemed that there really was a much deeper connection between the spirits and the gods.
To the point where I couldn’t help wondering, “Were they arranged to meet me just so they could watch over me?”
But I threw that thought out since that didn’t matter.
The gods had shown that even without spirits, they had plenty of ways to watch over me and interfere when they needed to.
“Then your divine energy?”
“It was bestowed upon us by the gods themselves.”
I couldn’t help raising a brow after hearing this.
After all, the way that the rock elemental ancestor said this was a bit strange.
It was the way that it had addressed itself.
It was using a plural form rather than using the singular form…
“I can see what you are thinking. Yes, we can absorb the divine energy that the gods grant to each other as well. It collects inside of us just like the power that we steal from each other.”
A strange look appeared on my face after the rock elemental ancestor said this.
There was a part of me that wondered what else could be absorbed by these rock elementals. There was also a part of me that wondered if…
“Yes, we can absorb destruction energy as well. That was part of the reason why we were targeted first by the forces of Destruction.”
This time, there was a large reaction that came from me.
There was a part of me that was worried that this was something that the elder was saying from experience.
If that was the case…
“Don’t worry, we’ve purged ourselves of that during the last war. It was also the reason why the ones that attacked the others did it in the first place. It was their instincts being overridden by the power of the destruction energy.”
This wasn’t what I had been expecting, but this certainly was more details about this situation.
The rock elemental ancestor continued by saying, “This was also the reason why we were sealed up in this place. It’s said to be for our own good and a reward for us, but it was just to ensure that the forces of Destruction couldn’t reach us. After all, there’s no limit to how much power we can condense within ourselves.”
When I looked at the elder and the other rock elementals, I could see that even they were shocked to hear this. Even though they had been with this ancestor of theirs for so long, it didn’t seem like the ancestor had said a single word about this to them.
It turned out that this life of theirs had been nothing more than a lie.
Thinking about what I had figured out about the rock elementals, they really were dangerous if they fell under the control of the forces of Destruction. So it did make sense that they would be sealed away like this.
At the same time, I certainly believed that the gods would do something like this.
Though there was one more thing that I didn’t understand.
“Then the current rock elementals, how did they obtain the divine energy that they currently possess?”
“We passed it down to them. When we have descendants, we pass down parts of ourselves down to them and they obtain things from those parts.”
So the elementals produced by creating more of themselves instead of occurring naturally?
As if the rock elemental ancestor could guess what I was thinking, it said, “We used to produce by coming from nature, but that really doesn’t work in an artificial place like this. As such, the only way for me to continue the tribe was to procreate using this method.”
“You?” I couldn’t help asking as I realized something off about what the rock elemental ancestor said.
“Yes, me. I was the only one that was left in the end.”
As I heard this, I couldn’t help looking around with a strange look.
Once again, it was as if the rock elemental ancestor had guessed what I was thinking as it said, “Everything that you see around you is my corpse, but it also stretches deep down into the ground. It’s much larger than you think.”
“Were you the only one that…”
Though my words trailed off, the rock elemental ancestor still understood what I was trying to say.
Though the rock elemental ancestor didn’t actually answer directly.
“It was a deadly war and many fell during that time. It isn’t strange that I was the only one that survived.”
Once again, it seemed like the elder and the other rock elementals had surprised looks on their faces. These were expressions that they just simply couldn’t fake, these were expressions that showed their true feelings.
It seemed that there were many things that had been hidden from them by this ancestor of theirs.
However, it was also obvious that they had hidden everything to protect the rock elementals from the truth. It would have been hard for them to accept that they were trapped in a seal all this time instead of this being a reward.
The one thing that I couldn’t understand was why the rock elemental ancestor would tell me all of this.
Once again, it was as if the rock elemental ancestor knew what I was thinking, “It’s because I’ve been waiting a long time for you. You’re the only one that I could tell this to.”
Though I looked at it with a strange look, the rock elemental ancestor just wouldn’t explain this at all…
