Chapter 2078: Fire elementals

After taking out these things, I just waited to see what kind of reaction would come from this place.

However, it didn’t seem like there was a single reaction that was happening.

This place was a place that was filled with flames, which meant that there was nothing else in this place.

So the only thing that I saw were the flames that were burning all around me.

It really didn’t feel like there was anything here at all.

That was until I felt a trace of divine energy.

This wasn’t divine energy that came from me, so I knew that it had to be divine energy that came from the elementals that lived in this place.

It was just that I couldn’t find where it was coming from.

That was until I finally figured out that there was something different about the flames around me. Though it wasn’t something that I had figured out on my own.

The one that had figured this out was Ifrit who pointed it out for me.

When I looked closely, I could see that there were more flames that were there and it seemed to be dancing differently from the flames that were there previously. With the way that these flames danced, it was almost as if they were alive in some way.

“Are you the elementals I’m supposed to meet?”

There was no response when I asked this out loud, but I didn’t give up as I said, “I’m the god’s representative that was supposed to help you. I don’t know if you can come out and see me, but I would like to talk to you about how I can help you.”

After a long moment of silence, that was when they finally revealed themselves.

As Ifrit said, the elementals were the flames that had appeared around me.

When they finally decided to show themselves, I saw that they had completely surrounded me. In fact, it was quite surprising to see just how many of them there were.

In a place like this, it really was the best kind of camouflage to be made of flames.

If one didn’t know about flames, then they really wouldn’t be able to see through the changes around them. Though even if one did know about flames, it was hard to see them.

After all, it was hard to tell the flame elementals apart from the flames that were around me.

They were all flames after all…

It was only because the flame elementals had changed themselves a bit that I was able to tell them apart from the normal flames.

“You’re the god’s representative?” A flame elemental came forward as if they were the representative of the rest of the flame elementals and asked this question.

I just gave a simple nod in response before raising the hand with the Mark of God on it.

This flame elemental didn’t seem to have the same courage that the rock elementals had as they didn’t approach the Mark of God that I was offering them.

They just looked at it with what seemed to be wary gazes, which was hard to tell since their faces were made of flames that kept dancing.

It was easier to tell the expression of the rock elementals since they were just a single mass rather than dancing flames like this.

“Is something the matter?” I asked when I saw the wary way that they looked at my hand.

There was another silence that lingered in the air for a bit before the flame elemental finally said, “You have the power of a spirit around you and you’re saying that you’re the god’s representative?”

A bitter smile appeared on my face when I heard this before I said, “If it wasn’t for the power of that spirit, I wouldn’t be able to remain in this place. It’s only because of that spirit’s power that I can remain here.”

Then I added, “Of course, you can tell that this is the real deal. If it was fake, would it really be releasing divine energy like this?”

The flame elemental didn’t say anything at first, but eventually it came closer to look at the Mark of God on the back of my hand.

It didn’t touch me since it seemed to understand that this would be bad, but it came closer to look at the Mark of God. When it came close to me, I could feel the heat that was coming from it.

If it wasn’t for Ifrit’s power, I really would have been burned by this heat.

Once the flame elemental seemed satisfied with what it was seeing, it finally looked up at me and said, “Follow us to the village.”

It didn’t seem to drop its guard, but this was enough for now.

Once we were at the village and at the place where they needed my help, then it would be easy to prove my identity.

Following the flame elementals, it didn’t take long for us to reach a place that was even hotter than where we were previously. This place was also filled with many different flames which were also flame elementals.

It was similar to when I reached the village of the rock elementals for the first time.

Though this village wasn’t the same as that rock village.

Instead of using rocks as buildings, these flame elementals seemed to live in rivers of lava which contributed to the heat that came from this place.

The other difference was the size of this place.

It wasn’t like the rock elemental village where everything was shrunken down to fit the size of the rock elementals.

The flame elementals were quite big, reaching the same size as normal humans.

As such, the village was on the same scale as a human village.

Though humans certainly wouldn’t have been able to live in a place like this.

If they ever tried, the first thing that would have happened to them is that they would have burnt to a crisp.
