Chapter 2079: Inside a volcano
After arriving in the village, the same thing happened where a group came out to greet me.
Or it was better to say that this group came out to judge me.
The way that the other flame elementals looked at this group showed what kind of status this group had.
It was the same status that the other group of elders had among the rock elementals.
So these flame elementals were the ones that were in charge of this village.
The same thing happened where they looked at me as if they were skeptic of who I was. But that didn’t last long when I showed them the rock and the Mark of God that was on my hand.
Once they saw these things, it wasn’t as if there was anything left for them to be skeptical about.
After all, there really was no better proof than this.
“We’ve been waiting for you for a long time.”
The one elder that seemed to be in charge of the group of elders said this once it confirmed my identity. This was the same thing that the elder of the rock elementals said.
If that was the case, then that meant…
“Did you also have a prophecy?”
The elder of the flame elementals seemed a bit surprised when it heard this question, but then it seemed to have picked up on something.
“So you’ve already met others like us? That’s why you aren’t surprised at all?”
I raised the rock that the rock elementals gave me in response to this.
Seeing this, the elder of the flame elementals revealed a look as if it was smiling before saying, “Right, I almost forgot about that.”
Then as if to explain it, the elder said, “Well, you’ve just given us too much to be surprised about that I forgot about it.”
This elder was completely different from the rock elemental elder.
That elder was silent and stoic, only speaking when it was necessary.
On the other hand, this elder seemed rash and liked to talk a lot.
Was it because this was a flame elemental rather than a rock elemental?
Perhaps their elements also determined their personalities…
Regardless of what it was, the only thing that mattered right now was to take care of business.
“So where is the thing that I’m supposed to charge up?”
The elder was once again surprised when it heard this, but then a smile appeared on the elder’s face as it said, “So you’ve already taken care of this before, then that makes things much easier.”
It turned around as soon as it said this and walked off as if it wanted me to follow it.
I didn’t say anything either as I followed behind the flame elemental elder.
Since the flame elemental elder had accepted me, I could see that the other flame elementals were slowly coming around as well.
From behind the rivers of lava, they were looking at me as if they were curious about me.
I also wanted to learn a bit more about the flame elementals as well, but this wasn’t the time for that.
Right now, the first thing that we had to do was fill whatever the source of this place was with the divine energy that it needed.
Though I certainly didn’t expect that I would be led to a place like this.
After walking for a bit, we arrived at the place where the source was.
A volcano.
It was a volcano that was actively releasing lava to form the lava rivers that flowed all over this place.
Considering the fact that the flame elementals lived in the rivers of lava, it only made sense that the source of this place was a volcano. In fact, it would have been strange if it was anything other than this.
The problem was…
“How do we get in?” I asked when we came close to the volcano and I could feel the heat coming from it.
This heat was something else, it wasn’t even close to being at the same level as the rest of this place. Not to mention that the heat was already at a level that normal humans wouldn’t have been able to live in.
In fact, even empowered humans would have found it hard to stay in this place for long.
It was only because I had the power of Ifrit that I was able to keep the heat out.
If it really came down to it, perhaps I could go inside the volcano if I used all the different relics that I had…but I would rather not get down to that since there was no telling what kind of effect these relics would have on this thing.
The flame elementals didn’t say anything at first, but then they raised their hands and a river of lava suddenly opened up. When this river of lava parted, there was this opening that appeared.
But even then, I wasn’t hopeful about this since it was still surrounded by lava.
It really didn’t seem like the kind of place that a human could survive in.
“Just come and take a look.” The elder of the flame elemental said before leading the way forward.
Seeing this, I really had no choice but to follow them. Though I did move slower than I had moved previously since I had no idea what to expect.
To my surprise, I found that there was less heat the more that I approached the opening.
It was as if there was some kind of magic that was keeping the heat away, just like with the lava.
It seemed that whoever designed this place, they had already taken into account that someone without heat and lava resistance would want to come here one day.
Since that was the case, I followed them into this opening and entered the volcano.
This was a cave that led deep into the depths of the volcano, but that just made me worried once more.
After all, the only thing that would be waiting would be a chamber filled with magma…
