Chapter 2086: Flames all over the place

“The ancestors want to meet you.” The flame elemental elder said to me all of a sudden.

It was early in the morning and I had just set foot into the land of the flame elementals when the elder suddenly said this.

I was naturally caught off guard, but I quickly recovered since I had been expecting this.

The last time, the ancestor of the rock elementals had only met with me after I had forced the issue. If I hadn’t forced the issue and demanded the answer, then it would have been hard for me to meet that ancestor.

I had thought that it would be the same with this ancestor of the flame elementals, but it turned out that this wasn’t the case.

But I was caught off guard by the fact that I didn’t have to do anything to meet the ancestor.

It really felt like I should have had to do the same thing with the rock elementals with these flame elementals.

Still, since they were willing to meet me, it wasn’t as if I was going to say no.

“Where do we need to go to meet the ancestor?”

As I was saying this, I couldn’t help feeling that there was something wrong with what I had just said. Then when I thought about it, I realized that there was indeed something wrong with what I said.

“What do you mean by ancestors?” I asked all of a sudden.

The flame elementals were caught off guard when they heard this, but then the elder said, “It’s as it implies, there is more than one ancestor.”

The elder said this as if it was a natural thing, but it wasn’t that simple for me.

I couldn’t help knitting my brows the moment that I heard this.

The rock elementals only had a single living ancestor, but the flame elementals had more than one.

Did that mean that the flame elementals were stronger than the rock elementals?

Or did that mean that they just simply didn’t have the same resolve as the rock elementals?

After all, I didn’t think that the history of the flame elementals would be that different from the history of the rock elementals. So for there to be more than one ancestor, it should mean that they didn’t follow through with the plan as much as the rock elementals.

Or it could mean that they were strong enough that they were able to maintain a larger population without having to sacrifice that many of their own tribe.

It really was something that I couldn’t help falling deeper into the more that I thought about it, but I stopped myself in the end.

Thinking too much about this really didn’t help and it was better to directly meet the ancestors to get this answer.

So once again, I asked, “Where do we need to go to meet these ancestors?”

The flame elementals didn’t say a thing while I was deep in thought like this.

I could see from the looks on their faces that they were wondering if I was alright. However, they seemed to calm down when they saw me waiting for an answer from them like this.

With a cough to calm himself, the flame elemental elder said, “There’s no need for us to go anywhere, the ancestors will come and meet us here.”

I couldn’t help looking at the elder with a strange look before I looked up into the sky to see if there was anything approaching.

The last time that an ancestor came to see me, there was this large rock construct that came all the way to meet me.

If it was a flame elemental ancestor, then it should be a large mass of flames.

Only I didn’t really see or feel anything.

Even though the flame elemental elder had said that the ancestors would come meet me, it didn’t seem like they were going to appear at all.

“What are you looking at?” The flame elemental elder asked all of a sudden when it saw me looking up at the sky like this.

I slowly looked back down before saying, “Where’s your ancestor?”

The flame elemental had a strange look on its face as it said, “The ancestor has been here all along? What are you looking for?”

This time, a confused look appeared on my face as I looked around this area. However, I couldn’t see anything that could be considered an ancestor in this place.

“We have been here the entire time.”

A voice rang out that was different from the voice of the flame elementals that I knew.

As soon as this voice rang out, the flames that were naturally in this place seemed to start to move. They all came together and soon condensed to take the form of some kind of figure.

So it turned out that the ancestors of the flame elementals had been here all along.

It was just that they had taken the form of flames and spread themselves all over the place.

“Why did you hide yourself like that?” I couldn’t help asking in the end.

The same voice as before gave a laugh before saying, “Who said that we were hiding?”

A confused look appeared on my face, but the same voice explained, “We had to do what we could to maintain this place. Even if it meant sacrificing ourselves like that.”

The confused look remained on my face for a bit longer before it slowly started to change.

They had spread out their essence to nourish this realm and keep it alive while the source had been slowly draining away.

I couldn’t help feeling amazed by the actions of these ancestors.

After all, I knew that it wasn’t simple to do something like this.

Not to mention that if I hadn’t come in time, then they would have died from drawing too much from their essence.

It seemed that they really cared about their descendants…

“Come, we have much to talk about.” The voice said in an amused tone.
