Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 2089: It’s colder

Chapter 2089: It’s colder
After that warning from the flame elemental ancestors, I didn’t really feel like staying in this place much longer.
At the same time, the red gem was much healthier compared to how it was when I had first arrived.
That was why I only did a quick injection of divine energy before leaving.
The flame elementals looked like they wanted me to do a bit more, but they didn’t say anything in the end. After all, they could see how much it had drained me to do the injections in the past few days.
It was obvious that I had been exerting myself during this period of time since I could see how weak the red gem was.
It made it hard for them to say anything now that the situation had stabilized.
I certainly wasn’t going to say anything since I was still in a strange mood after my talk with their ancestors. At this time, I really didn’t feel like staying here any longer as I needed some private time to sort things out.
But when I came out to the surface, I couldn’t help feeling that something was off.
The land on the surface was certainly cold, but it felt different when I came out today.
It wasn’t just because the space underground had gotten warmer, it was clear that there was some kind of change above ground.
This taboo zone was a place that was the embodiment of cold with how cold it was, but it seemed like it was even more intense than usual.
The moment that I came out, I had to immediately raise the shield that I normally used to protect myself. At the same time, I could see that the guards had bundled up while they had been waiting for me.
It seemed that they just couldn’t take the cold while they were waiting for me.
“When did it change?” I asked Klein who was waiting there.
He thought about it before saying, “Not that long ago, there was this sudden drop in temperature that happened and we had to rush to bundle up.”
When I heard this, I couldn’t help knitting my brows before asking, “Just when exactly did the temperature drop?”
Klein was caught off guard when he heard this, but he thought about it seriously before saying, “Around an hour ago.”
After saying this, he looked at me as if he was waiting for an explanation, but I didn’t say anything.
I also revealed a look of deep thought as I started matching up the timeline.
After thinking about it for a bit, I realized that the timing really did sync up.
Earlier after I met with the ancestor, but before I had injected divine energy into the red gem, the flame elementals had held another ceremony. They had wanted to ensure that the vitality of their home would slowly recover, which was why they had been holding ceremonies from time to time.
I didn’t mind it since this was the reason that I had done this in the first place.
But now it seemed that this did have an effect on the land above like I had theorized.
The only reason that we didn’t see the change with the land that the rock elementals lived under was because it wasn’t something that could be seen that easily. The effect that they had on the land above them was that they drained the vitality from the land, making it so that nothing grew there.
For land that was already barren, it was hard to see if it became more barren since there were no indicators.
However, there was a clear indicator here in the form of the cold.
It seemed that whatever was created down below was taken away from above.
If this was creation, then it seemed like there was something off.
After all, when I used the creation divine energy to create something, it wasn’t as if there was something else that was taken away. When I used it, the things that I created were created out of thin air.
Well, they used my divine energy as a base, but it wasn’t as if it was just converting something into something else.
It really seemed like there was something off about the things that the elementals had received from the gods. It really didn’t seem like something that a real relic of creation attributed divine energy would be capable of.
Was it something that the gods gave them or was it some kind of trap?
No, the divine energy that the ancestors of these elementals possessed was not something that was fake and it was the gods that directed me to them. So no matter how one looked at it, it wasn’t as if the relationship between the elementals and the gods was fake.
There just seemed to be something off about all of this that I couldn’t put my finger on.
“Is there a problem staying here?” I finally asked Klein in the end.
Klein was caught off guard by this question, but he shook his head and said, “We have plenty of supplies and we can bring in more whenever we need, so it isn’t as if we’ll need to worry about that.”
Then after a pause, he added, “If it becomes colder, then that’s a different story. There’s only so much that we can protect ourselves against with magic and clothing.”
The others behind him all nodded in agreement to this.
I also agreed with this since I knew the limits of magic spells.
Only for now, I still had to finish what I was doing here before sealing this place off again.
It seemed that for now, the only thing that I could do was ask the flame elementals not to hold any more ceremonies during this time. If they didn’t hold these ceremonies, then the temperature above ground shouldn’t drop any lower.
Though it certainly would be hard to tell the flame elementals that had finally seen hope through these ceremonies to stop.
There was no doubt that this would be a hard conversation with them.
