Shota's Isekai NTR Adventure - Chapter 2210: Successor (4)

“I can’t tell if this is a good or bad thing.”
That was what I felt even if they didn’t say this out loud.
It was just that after thinking about it, I realized that it would have been worse for them since they were the ones that actually believed in Aquaron and worshiped him.
For them, it should have a much deeper meaning than it did for me.
“It is a good thing.”
It seemed that after a long struggle, that was the conclusion that they came to.
The one that actually came to this conclusion was the Merman Queen.
She had been silent throughout all of this, almost as if she didn’t have an opinion on this matter. But I had already been in this family long enough to know that she was the one that had the final say in most matters.
The fact that she remained silent was because she was thinking things through.
She certainly thought things through more thoroughly than the Merman King.
Once she said this, it was as if a decision had been made for everyone.
Though it wasn’t as if this wasn’t what they were already thinking.
What the Merman Queen said was what everyone already had on their minds, but just didn’t say out loud. So there was nothing wrong with what she had said in the end.
It was actually the most accurate way to describe this.
The only problem was that it kind of left a strange feeling inside of everyone to acknowledge this.
“But how are we going to announce this?”
The Merman King asked in a voice that seemed to be filled with difficulty.
At this, everyone once again fell into deep thought.
For me, it wasn’t as if I had much to consider since this was more of a matter for the Merman Kingdom’s royal family. This was something that had already been announced to the rest of the world without any spin to it, so it had caused chaos in the Merman Kingdom.
They had to announce something or else it would only get worse for the entire Merman Kingdom.
Faith was something that bound them, but it was also a sort of curse since there were those that became fanatical.
If the royal family didn’t announce anything at all, it would only be a matter of time before something serious happened.
So that was why they had to at least put out some kind of statement and reveal a few things to make sure that speculations didn’t go wild.
Since they were the royal family, it was best to leave things to them since they were the ones that knew their people the best. They knew what kind of things were safe to reveal, unlike me, who didn’t know enough about their internal workings.
Though once they were done discussing this, I couldn’t help asking, “Are you alright? Are you sure about all of this?”
This was more directed at Ariel since I could see the way that she was looking at our child.
“This is something that has to be done since we’re members of the royal family. I don’t want this for our child, but there really is nothing that can be done. It’s only expected of us since we’re a part of the royal family.”
There was a part of me that really couldn’t relate to her since I had never grown up in a royal family like she did.
I understood where she was coming from when she said this, but I also couldn’t help feeling sorry for our child that it was caught up in all of this.
That child was innocent and didn’t deserve any of this…
“That Aqauaron…how could he say something like this?”
Even if I complained, it wasn’t as if there was anything that I could do now since it had already been done. Which was why the only thing that we could do was think of a way to solve this problem.
“We’ll have to show the child to everyone formally at the very least.”
It seemed like they were coming up with a plan for this, but I wasn’t really a part of the conversation in the end since it wasn’t as if I was really a part of the royal family.
It wasn’t that I wasn’t part of the family, I just wasn’t part of their ’royal’ family.
I didn’t mind this since I knew that it was best if they planned everything as this was their domain.
The only thing that I was asked for was to provide some protection just in case something happened.
…
“That was tiring.”
That was the only thing that I could say after the ceremony.
It wasn’t that there was a problem, it was just that there were too many people and they had been far too enthusiastic about this.
There wouldn’t be a problem with the people of the Merman Kingdom accepting our son as the new prince of the Merman Kingdom. In fact, it seemed like there were some that even wanted to replace the Merman King right away with how fanatical they were.
After all, this new prince of theirs had been named as the successor of the god that they worshiped. So in the end, it was impossible for them not to be this fervent towards the new prince.
The other big problem was the fact that there were some that plotted against this new prince.
It wasn’t that they were planning on harming the new prince, it was that they were planning on setting them up with their daughters.
Even if their daughters were already adults and this was a newborn child…
It really was scary how fanaticism would drive people to go this far…
Still, I was able to navigate all of this and clear the path for my son.
In the end, I was left with this hollow feeling since everything was going the way that Aquaron planned for it to go.
“It’s all his fault still.” I couldn’t help complaining.
