Slime Evolution - Chapter 202 - Risky Evolution II

Chapter 202: 202 – Risky Evolution II
Lisa couldn’t take her eyes off the blue mass that now seemed to be waging a violent battle against its very existence.
The 70% risk of collapse warning that the system had triggered for Lohan was not visible to the group, but the pressure emanating from him was so dense that even Dee, the tank warrior, took a step back, raising his shield in instinctive shock.Lohan’s gelatinous body, which had previously been a stable blue sphere, was now undergoing erratic and brutal contractions.
Now it would expand violently, becoming almost transparent and revealing the conflicting glow of its two inner cores, the Superior Magic Core and the Sacred Light Core; now it would compress to the size of a palm, vibrating at a frequency that made the surrounding air crackle with static electricity.
“Bella… what’s happening to him?” Alice whispered, her voice filled with the apprehension she rarely showed. “I’ve never seen an evolution cause this kind of distortion in the environment.”
Lisa didn’t answer right away.
She hadn’t told anyone that Halon had a Mythic Race, a rarity even greater than her own; to them, Halon had merely good potential, which could mean an Epic or Legendary Base like hers.
And not even she knew that within Halon, not only was there a Mythic Race, but his Class was also Mythic!
Lohan had never told her about his Class, only about his Race.
The fox’s two white tails were bristling, and her golden eyes captured every millisecond of Lohan’s agony.
Lohan had suddenly disconnected from her mental Link in a violent and frightened manner, raising her concern to astronomical levels.
“While I was evolving, the sensation was just relaxing and pleasant, but he seems to be having trouble with his evolution…” Lisa finally said, her voice cold but slightly trembling. “Maybe Slimes weren’t meant to carry this level of power. He’s forcing the system to accept what he’s become.”
Suddenly, Lohan let out a mental “scream” that, though unheard by anyone since he had left the mental link, was silently conveyed by the agonized vibration of his membrane.
His biomass began to evaporate into a bluish mist, seemingly consuming itself at an alarming rate to seal the structural fissures in his core.
His gelatin began to boil, changing color to a deep obsidian hue before glowing a blinding gold.
The group watched in shock as Lohan seemed to “melt” completely into the ground, transforming into a liquid pool. At that moment, the risk of collapse reached its peak, and Lisa felt her heart clench.
Then, the chaos fell silent.
BOOOM!
A purifying shockwave expanded from the center of the clearing, blowing smoke and debris away.
The violent glare was replaced by a soft, rhythmic light. Lohan, now reformed, rose slowly from the ground as his body rebuilt itself in a subtle yet incredible manner.
His gelatin was no longer just a viscous fluid; it seemed clearer, almost crystalline, yet exuded a density suggesting a strength far superior to any metal. He molded himself into his usual spherical form, but the movement was so fluid that there seemed to be no friction with the air.
Lohan felt an overwhelming sense of relief.
For a few seconds, he felt control over his body firm up and his consciousness take hold of it once more.
Seeing Halon return to normal, Lisa finally let out a sigh of relief and relaxed, her two tails swinging back and forth again.
Lohan tested his new malleability, shaping the crystalline gelatin into a human hand that, this time, emerged with startling clarity. This was no longer the “chubby baby arm” from before, but a much more detailed replica of a human hand, obviously without pores or expression lines, yet far more realistic, mature, and well-developed compared to what he had been able to create previously.
Alice took a step forward, relaxing her combat stance, though her eyes still sparkled with disbelief. “Halon… you look… like a tiny, beautiful jewel!” she murmured, cautiously approaching and gazing at the tiny white and gold particles that seemed to float in his blue jelly like a starry sky.
Wyrm, the Druid, was the one who could best sense the change in Halon. With the natural energy overflowing from the little being, he felt as if he were standing before a centuries-old tree exuding life!
“Thanks, Alice, haha, and thanks for taking care of me, everyone.” Lohan transmitted through the mental link, surprising the group, even his voice seemed deeper and richer, which comically contrasted sharply with the Slime’s small, cute appearance.
Lisa approached him, still unsure if he was really okay, but seeing that he seemed perfectly fine, she sighed in relief. “Why are even your evolutions so complicated?” she complained playfully.
Lohan laughed upon hearing that, agreeing with her, until suddenly a message popped up in front of him.
“Shit, it’s not over yet!” he said, shocked, quickly stepping back and bracing himself for what was to come.
[Slime Race (Mythical) Evolution Successfully Completed! Initiating Devourer Class (Mythical) Evolution!]
Reading that notice, Lohan felt the energy being drained from his body and the gelatin grow flaccid, fearing what would come next.
Lohan felt a chill run through his core, a sensation of “emptiness” that contrasted violently with the fullness he had just achieved.
If the evolution of his Race had been a Hardware evolution, improving the components of his body to allow him to better adapt to and control the powers and energies within him for an even higher Mythic version than he was at previous levels, now would come the Software evolution, the programs that required that physical structure to be robust!
From what he had gathered during that month playing in Elysium, Slime represented the malleable adaptability needed to absorb and cope with any new evolution, while Devourer represented the constant absorption of new evolutions and structures to make it an even more perfect creature!
