Sorcerer: I want to be an Academic Prodigy - Chapter 684 - 650: Battle of Destiny_2

Chapter 684: Chapter 650: Battle of Destiny_2
As a Knight King, Bo’er had exceptional hearing. So far, no living being had approached the Black Star without him noticing, a talent that made another member of the legion, the Farseer, green with envy.
“The Red Bone Pirates?”
“The pirate crew has four leaders. The head leader is revered as the ‘Red Bone King.’ I see, I see now. It’s him—an old foe. What a small universe.”
The scout fell into Ivan’s hands. Anyone with even a trace of brainwork would essentially be handing him valuable intel without the need to interrogate prisoners.
The fact that there were no throne-level individuals on the opposing side was good news for him.
“Pirates? Hahaha, wasn’t Commander Wolfsplitter in this business too back in the day? An old colleague indeed.”
“Ban Bu, shut your foul mouth. Ever since I joined the cause of the Supreme Lord, I’ve turned over a new leaf. Let’s not dig up ancient history.”
Upon hearing the word “pirates,” the members of the Black Star Legion ignored the size of the enemy forces. Their fighting spirit erupted, their combative nature on full display.
“Your Lordship, may I boldly ask—what do you mean by ‘I see now’? Could it be that we’ve had past grievances with the Red Bone Pirates?” After snapping back at the foul-mouthed Ban Bu, Wolfsplitter straightened his expression and queried the Supreme Commander of the legion.
“The backstory runs deep. If this sorcerer is not mistaken, the head leader of the Red Bone Pirates is the same one who arrogantly ran his mouth last time in the Little Black Moustache Plane.”
Ivan didn’t hesitate, revealing an astounding piece of news.
“The New Crimson Army?” Wolfsplitter’s eyes widened.
“Indeed, it’s the faction that has inherited the Crimson Power. The new army is likely still in the making,” Ivan said with a slight nod.
“Rest assured, Your Lordship. On my head, Wolfsplitter promises you: we, the Black Star Legion, will never lose to the New Crimson Army.”
Wolfsplitter vowed with confidence, and the others quickly voiced their agreement.
At its core, the Black Star Legion could itself be considered an offshoot of the Crimson Army, which made this confrontation not only about factions but also about legitimacy and superiority.
With such history between them, no one wanted to lose. Even if it meant staking their lives, they would defend the honor of the “Black Star Legion.”
In this resolve, everyone was united, even the usually contentious Wolfsplitter and Ban Bu.
“Good. I’ll be watching your performance. I hope you live up to your words.”
Ivan remarked lightly. Morale was high, and he wasn’t about to dampen it at a crucial moment like this.
One trains troops for a thousand days to use them in a single moment.
However, compared to the opposing Red Bone Pirates, the Black Star Legion was indeed at a numerical disadvantage. This was the price they paid for being selective and uncompromising in recruiting.
The Black Star sped forward at full speed. Before long, it slowed to a halt amidst the vast void of space.
There was only one warship. Destroying it would affect their return journey, so they decided to play it safe.
“Guard the Black Star well. If anything goes wrong, you’ll have no one to blame but yourselves.”
Before leaving, Wolfsplitter turned and gave a fierce warning to the crew on deck.
He understood that their Supreme Commander was magnanimous and disinclined to concern himself with such trivial matters. As the Great Commander of the legion, Wolfsplitter took on this responsibility, receiving no objection from the Supreme Commander.
“Rest assured, Your Lordship. Rest assured, commanders. We will protect the Black Star to the best of our ability, ensuring it suffers no damage.”
Watching the high-ranking members of the legion depart, the remaining crew stood resolute, their expressions determined—none more so than Daph, a petite Xiangmei tribeswoman.
Thanks to her contributions involving the Lucky Compass, Ivan had specifically approved her membership in the Black Star Legion.
Since joining, Daph had gained access to the Black Star Fighting Spirit cultivation method, combined with the legion’s augmentation. She trained diligently and had now reached the Level 3 Flying Knight stage.
Second only to Bo’er in mastery of the Black Star Fighting Spirit, she had started with the humblest of beginnings and remained at the bottom of the legion’s ranks in terms of strength.
But enough about the Black Star.
Ivan led five of his finest warriors as they sped through the void. Soon, a peculiar warship appeared in the distance, resembling a fortress city built upon the skeleton of a colossal alien beast.
“So it’s you pitiful fools, ignorant of your mortality, daring to stir up trouble with the Red Bone Pirates. And only six of you? Laughable.”
Onboard the Skeleton Battleship, the pirates lined up as one. Upon seeing the enemy headcount wasn’t even enough to fill two hands, they almost burst out laughing. As if the Red Bone Pirates were a joke, to be trifled with by so few.
They silently vowed to tear every one of these trespassers apart as a warm-up.
“Red Bone King, ah, to meet an old acquaintance, and yet you won’t even reveal your true title? Wasn’t this cowardice unbecoming of your former self?” Ivan taunted with leisurely disdain.
Even now, a lingering unease gnawed at Ivan’s thoughts.
Given the minimal connection to the Crimson Army’s legacy, he could say with confidence that such a senseless hostility shouldn’t exist from his side—it never had during their last encounter at the Little Black Moustache Plane.
Once again sharing the same location, this sensation of animosity within became overwhelming.
Simply put, Ivan found the Red Bone King unbearably detestable, a hatred so deep he wanted nothing more than to eliminate him entirely.
Without clarity on this new surge of animosity, his mood soured even further.
“Old acquaintance? Speak for yourself. Enough talk—coming onto Red Bone Pirate territory looking for death? My brothers and I will gladly grant your wish.” The Red Bone King felt his chest tighten but kept his expression unchanged, though his eyes concealed a murderous glint.
Of course, he recognized Ivan; he was none other than the traitor who had led the destruction of a crucial Crimson Army outpost.
Perfect. He hadn’t sent troops to strike first, yet Ivan had delivered himself to their doorstep. It was the perfect opportunity to erase this traitor and assert the Crimson Army’s true legacy.
“Ah, I see now. You haven’t told your men, have you? That you’re actually the primary inheritor of the Supreme Crimson’s powers, building the so-called New Crimson Army,” Ivan needled.
“Silence! Traitor—cease your senseless slander!”
Seeing Ivan on the verge of exposing his hidden identity, the Red Bone King erupted, interrupting with a forceful strike. Yet, after a brief exchange, his identity was laid bare for all to hear.
An uproar rippled through the crowd.
The Red Bone King, Duweite, was infuriated beyond words. That damned wretch! How dare he do this?
Even as the Crimson Army’s inheritor, Duweite had to begrudgingly admit the infamous reputation of the former Crimson Army and the host of enemies they had made. Revealing the New Crimson Army’s true name would only hinder its development.
Thus, he had chosen to operate under the guise of the Red Bone Pirates.
And now? This traitor had casually outed his plans. Intolerable!
“Red Bone King, as a fellow inheritor of Crimson Power, I have one question: does your New Crimson Army dare to compete with my Black Star Legion? If you lack the courage, then hand over the Crimson Army’s great banner—you are unworthy of it.”
Unfazed by Duweite’s outburst, Ivan pursued relentlessly.
This was an unambiguous provocation, a direct attack on the Red Bone King’s pride. The other three pirate leaders beside him exchanged meaningful glances, their thoughts unreadable.
“Dare? New Crimson Army, assemble behind me—we will dismantle these scoundrels, that traitor above all!”
As the pirate crew’s head leader, Duweite’s decision-making was swift. Noticing unrest among his subordinates, he immediately gave the order to strike.
The Red Bone King’s authority appeared strong within the pirates. Warriors rallied under his call, including his elite half-Insect Being troops and the second, third, and fourth pirate leaders, each harboring their own motives.
Seeing this, Duweite grinned cruelly at Ivan from across the void.
Ivan wasn’t disappointed by his failed attempt to sow chaos—it had always been a gamble anyway.
In the vacuum of space, the New Crimson Army stood opposite the Black Star Legion. Both sides were prepared for battle, the air thick with murderous tension. From their shared history with the Crimson Army, the clash carried an almost fated tone.
To lose meant obliteration.
To win meant claiming the Crimson Army’s rightful legacy.
