SSS Awakening: I Can Class Change at will - Chapter 235 Slaughtering The Horde

Chapter 235 Slaughtering The Horde
Grant’s shield smashed into the first beast to reach him, the creature still reeling from electrical shock and burns. His sword followed in a devastating arc, cutting through its flesh.
Thud!
The severed body fell to the floor.
Caleb crashed into the line beside him, his berserker class activating as he took damage from beast claws raking across his armor. The pain fueled his strength, each wound making his retaliatory strikes hit harder.
His skill allowed him to absorb some of the incoming damage, and transfer it into offensive power.
Cain and Abel moved like mirror images through the beast horde, when their swords flashes, bodies fell to the ground, lifeless.
Their speed, grace and precision disoriented front line. Where one twin’s blade created an opening, the other’s strike exploited it.
Jonah appeared from the shadows directly behind a particularly large beast that had broken through the initial clash, his daggers finding the creature’s spine before he vanished once again in the chaos.
Nina positioned herself protectively near Mara, killing any beasts that tried to flank around the main engagement, ensuring the healer could focus on keeping the front line fighters alive.
The attack was brutal. The combination of Moon and Kael’s elemental opening, followed by the melee fighters’ devastating charge, had created exactly the breakthrough Grant had wanted.
But this was only the beginning of the battle.
Behind the fallen and injured beasts of the front line, more waited, their roars echoing through the cavern as they surged forward to replace their fallen kin. The horde seemed endless, a living tide that refused to stop despite the mounting casualties.

[You have gained 45 Lives.]
Notifications flooded Moon’s vision as kill confirmations kept piling up rapidly. The lives gained were distributed amongst many of the S-rankers who’d contributed to each kill, so the individual rewards were lower than what a solo elimination would grant.
But Moon wasn’t complaining. The sheer volume of targets meant the numbers accumulated quickly.
[You have killed the level 25 A-Rank Dark Hound]
[You have gained 200 Lives.]
Still, amongst the many shared kills, some were solo eliminations where Moon’s lightning had been the sole killing blow. Those granted significantly more lives, the full reward flowing to him alone.
His experience bar remained stuck at level 25, frozen by the evolution task preventing him from levelling up. But Moon knew that experience was still accumulating invisibly behind that barrier, and once he became an Evolver, the stored progress would hit all at once in a massive surge of growth.
Crackle! Zap!
Water and lightning kept pouring from Moon’s staff in waves, drenching and paralyzing clusters of beasts for the brief moments that his teammates needed to land killing blows.
The synergy was working perfectly, his powerful spells creating constant opportunities for the melee fighters.
ROAR!
Beside Kael, a large beast suddenly emerged from the horde with terrifying speed, taking advantage of the exact moment when the pyromancer was focused on casting an area-of-effect spell to kill multiple targets.
The ambush was perfectly executed. The beast was fast and opportunistic, a sleek black panther that had been stalking through the chaos specifically waiting for this opening.
It lunged at Kael the instant he released his attack toward a cluster of beasts, his guard completely down during the spell’s casting completion.
Kael’s eyes widened at the sneak attack. He tried to leap backward, to create distance and buy himself time to respond. But the panther was too fast, and his reaction came a fraction of a second too late.
CLANG!
Nina’s sword intercepted the panther’s claws mid-strike, her shield following in a defensive bash that knocked the creature slightly off-balance.
She’d been positioned protectively near Mara, the healer, but as the Knight of the group, her job also included constant awareness and protection of ranged fighters. The moment she’d seen the panther’s muscles coil for the ambush, she’d moved with explosive speed to intercept.
The attack that would have severely wounded Kael instead crashed harmlessly against hardened steel.
“Thank you,” Kael said calmly, immediately retreating several steps to create safe distance.
Nina didn’t respond verbally, too focused on fending off the panther’s follow-up strikes. The creature’s claws were locked against her sword in a contest of strength, making it difficult to disengage safely without suffering from a potential injury.
“Damn it! Someone hel—”
Before she could finish calling for assistance, a brilliant arc of flashing lightning struck the black panther.
Moon had been watching the fight from his position in the formation’s rear, his staff already charging the moment he’d seen Nina engage. The lightning bolt hit the panther squarely in torso.
The creature’s entire body convulsed violently, its muscles seizing from electrical shock. The paralysis lasted only a moment, perhaps half a second at most.
But that moment was enough.
Nina took advantage of the opening immediately, her sword reversing its defensive posture into an aggressive thrust aimed at the panther’s throat.
Simultaneously, Moon’s lightning flashed again, Kael’s fire erupted in a powerful blast, and Reid’s arrow flew toward the creature’s eye.
Four S-rankers struck the black panther at once, their attacks converging before the surrounding beasts could even react to help it escape.
When the attack was done, the black panther’s body crashed to the ground, dead before it even finished falling, lifeless eyes still wide with the shock of its interrupted ambush.
[You have killed the level 25 S-Rank Shadow Panther]
[You have gained 400 Lives.]
Their first confirmed S-rank kill of this operation.
“First S-rank down!” Nina’s voice boomed.
Grant at the front line shouted, “Good! Stay focused! There will be more!”
[Kill Fifty level 25 creatures classified at S-Rank power level alone. 3/50]
Staring at the task, Moon wasn’t surprised, he didn’t kill the beast by himself. Several others had joined in.
‘I can’t waste another one, the next one…I’m killing it myself.’ Moon thought, his eyes searching the beast horde, looking for other S-Rank beasts to kill.
