Still, Caleb’s countless S-Rank items were saving him, so was the potions he kept drinking.
Cain and Abel were the worst out of the bunch, their strength came from being together, as one unit. The gates separated them, making them fight alone. Still, the team knew that, so they were provided with the weakest beasts in estimate, beasts they had the chance to defeat with their hidden trump cards, runes, potions and items.
Jonah had finally cornered the beast before him after a grueling hunt, both bleeding from dozens of wounds, preparing for the final exchange that would determine survival, except…Jonah had more than a single life.
And in the flooded cavern where Kael fought, the pyromancer’s eyes blazed as hot as the flames he commanded.
His mana pool was depleting rapidly, but he refused to slow his relentless attacks. Fireball after fireball crashed into the scorched Hydra, each explosion sending hot steam erupting across the cavern.
Half of the pond had now completely dried up from the heat of his attacks, the water level dropping visibly as moisture evaporated under the high temperature.
The Hydra’s beautiful ocean-blue scales were blackened and cracked, two of its three heads hanging limply with severe burns, only the central head still fighting ferociously.
But that remaining head was enough to be deadly.
It lunged forward with a final burst of speed, jaws wide open, aiming directly for Kael’s exposed throat with the last reserves of its fading strength.
Kael’s staff blazed with intensifying crimson light as he prepared his counterattack, mana flooding into his staff.

The battle between Moon and the Bellywig had finally started approaching its inevitable conclusion.
Moon had successfully achieved what he’d set out to accomplish—both healing skills at maximum proficiency.
“Alright, it’s time to end this,” Moon announced in satisfaction, storing his staff back in his storage ring with a smooth motion.
His hands immediately began lighting up with crackling blue energy, electricity dancing across his skin in arcing patterns that illuminated the cavern with in blue brilliance.
Lightning gathered around his fingertips, intensifying as he prepared to unleash his ravaging Lightning Raiju attack.
“Mirage, I need your help,” Moon said with a confident smirk, activating his [Beastmaster] skill to summon his bonded companion from the beast taming space.
Mirage materialized instantly beside Moon in a shimmer of displaced air, the white nightmare neighing sharply as he took in the battle-scarred cavern and the hovering insect threat.
Moon immediately vaulted onto Mirage’s back, settling into position. “I’m charging my attack. I just need you to dodge its strikes for the next few seconds. Can you do that?”
Mirage struck the stone floor with one powerful hoof in acknowledgment, then exploded into motion.
Mirage began running in evasive patterns across the cavern as the Bellywig gave chase. The insect’s wings beat furiously as it pursued him, trying to close distance and land the killing blow on this suddenly mobile target.
Although the Bellywig was objectively faster than Mirage in straight-line flight, Mirage’s ground-based agility and ability to change direction rapidly using obstacles made him difficult to catch.
And most importantly, Mirage bought Moon the few precious seconds he desperately needed to fully charge his most devastating attack.
Lightning continued building around Moon’s hands. The Raiju began taking shape, forming into a lightning wolf.
The Bellywig, sensing its opportunity slipping away, began to feel fear. It flew directly upward before diving straight down toward Moon and Mirage from above, its bladed forearms extended and stinger poised, ready to impale both rider and mount in a single attack.
Moon looked up at the descending threat and grinned fiercely.
“You’ve been a great training partner, I’ll make sure your death is quick and easy. Respectfully, perish.” Moon released the Lightning Raiju.
Thunder burst forth with frightful loudness that echoed through the cavern like a cannon shot, the acoustic shockwave alone stunning the Bellywig mid-dive.
Before the insect could adjust or evade, the Raiju construct struck with ruinous momentum.
The wolf slammed into the Bellywig’s thorax. The beast’s exoskeleton, already weakened from its earlier injuries, shattered under the impact.
Lightning energy discharged through the creature’s entire body in branching patterns, frying its nervous system and cooking it from the inside out.
The Bellywig was sent tumbling toward the ground instantly, its wings ceasing their rapid beating as its body functions failed completely. Thud!
It crashed into the stone floor, its body convulsing as lightning continued arcing across its carapace.
Its life force depleted rapidly.
Still mounted on Mirage, Moon was breathing heavily from the exertion. The attack had extracted a significant toll from both his stamina and mana, leaving him noticeably drained despite his high attributes.
“This skill really is too powerful,” Moon muttered with in appreciation of the result, examining the smoking corpse below. “This is the outcome of using fifty percent of my mana against an injured beast.”
To one-shot an S-Rank beast, even if injured was something that was incomprehensible, especially when using half of someone’s total mana pool, yet…Moon had done it, once again.
Moon gently caressed Mirage’s mane with affection, silently communicating his gratitude. “Good work, Mirage. Now walk me over to collect our prize, I’m too tired to go there myself.”
Mirage moved forward obediently, approaching the Bellywig’s still-twitching corpse with cautious steps.
The notification remained floating in Moon’s vision:
[You have killed the level 25 S-Rank Bellywig]
[You have gained 1,800 Lives.]
Moon’s smile widened in satisfaction. His lives were approaching astronomical numbers. Numbers that no Awakener could ever dream of having.
[Kill Fifty level 25 creatures classified at S-Rank power level alone. 5/50]
“Ten percent of the class evolution task has been completed…nice.”
He dismounted from Mirage and immediately stored the Bellywig’s corpse in his storage ring, securing the valuable core and materials.
Before leaving the area, Moon activated the supporting rune that he had created himself before entering the gate. As he sat in the rune’s proximity, his stamina and mana began to rise.
