Chapter 270 Searching For Some Important Details
He’d suspected this about Selene’s family background for some time, given various hints and her obvious reluctance to discuss her relatives. But Yara’s detailed account had essentially confirmed his theories about the level of influence and strength her brother possessed.
“I’m glad both of you stayed safe during all that chaos,” Moon said in relief. “And good job standing up for yourself and your friend by slapping that disrespectful fool. But you need to be more careful about when and how you choose to take such actions in the future.” He smiled warmly while gently rubbing the top of her head in an affectionate, brotherly gesture.
“Still, try to be obedient and cautious here on Earth, especially when I or Selene aren’t around to back you up. Don’t fall for provocations or let people trick you into compromising situations where you might be outnumbered or disadvantaged.”
His expression grew more serious, almost fierce.
“But inside the Sanctuaries? That’s completely different territory. If anyone dares to belittle you or treat you as less than equal, then stomp their head into the ground without mercy. If someone tries to harm you or threatens your safety, kill them repeatedly until they can no longer return, until they understand the consequences of crossing you. Show them no quarter whatsoever.”
Yara’s face brightened with a determined grin. “Mm-hm! I understand completely!”
She’d been feeling guilty about the consequences her defensive slap had caused, worried that her actions had created problems for Selene and herself. But hearing Moon’s approval and guidance made her feel much better about her instinctive response to harassment.
The distinction between Earth’s political complexities and the Sanctuaries’ more direct power dynamics made perfect sense to her. Different environments required different approaches to conflict resolution.
Moon was pleased to see her spirits restored. Yara was still learning to navigate the complicated social structures of human civilization while maintaining the strength and self-respect that would keep her alive in more dangerous realms.
It was a delicate balance, but she was adapting remarkably well for someone who had spent her entire life on a stranded island with only her tribal community for reference.
For the next hour, Moon simply relaxed on his couch with his phone in hand, finally having the opportunity to conduct research he’d been wanting to pursue for some time now.
After installing all the necessary applications and security protocols, Moon began browsing the internet with complete freedom. He’d made certain his phone was equipped with the best grade encryption and privacy protection that even the association couldn’t get into unless they physically modified his phone.
By the end of it, he had spent thousands of dollars on premium subscriptions for various security applications. Still, the cost was irrelevant compared to the value of maintaining secrets that could flip things.
Moon began by searching for any information about the benefactor of Lunaris Island—the mysterious figure who had saved and educated the Savi people, left behind a legacy, and whose inheritance had ultimately saved Moon’s life by granting him immense power.
Unfortunately, exactly as he’d expected, nothing appeared in any search results.
Whether he searched for “World’s Flaw,” references to the city of Anthropos, or any other fragments of information he possessed about the enigmatic man, it was as if this person had never existed in recorded history.
Of course, Moon knew that wasn’t actually the case.
What was even more unsettling was his realization that the time they’d spent in the hidden realm had perfectly matched the timeline of their real world. There had been no time dilation whatsoever, which meant the benefactor had truly arrived at Lunaris Island hundreds of years ago—long before the apocalypse had occurred and transformed humanity into what it had become today.
‘How is that possible? Is he some kind of time traveler? But that doesn’t make logical sense. Time travel exists only in ancient myths and fantasy. Time itself is supposed to be an immutable constant, a fundamental dimension that flows in one direction…’
Yet the evidence suggested otherwise.
Unless there were mechanisms for temporal manipulation that existed beyond current human understanding—powers or technologies that transcended everything awakeners believed possible about reality’s structure.
The inheritance had mentioned flaws in the world itself. Perhaps time was simply another system that could be… bent… by those who understood its deeper mechanics or perhaps Moon was simply over-reaching, either way…only time would tell.
After finding absolutely nothing about the World’s Flaw, Moon shifted his research toward more contemporary mysteries he needed answers for.
He began searching for information about “lives” as a concept, theories about creatures more powerful than S-rank beasts, anything that might reference Supreme Rank classifications or Super Lives.
But those terms were completely non-existent in any database or forums, even the hidden ones that needed payment to enter to—most were scams, whilst others were speculations.
Some researchers and awakeners did possess powerful imaginations, theorizing about hypothetical apex predators they called “Ancient Beasts” or other dramatic names. But these were pure speculation without any evidence to support their claims—vague statements about there always being “bigger fish in the pond” that were philosophically true but practically meaningless.
Nothing that connected to the specific Supreme Rank that Moon had discovered.
As his research continued, Moon inevitably came across his own name trending across multiple platforms.
He’d become something of a celebrity in New Avalon and beyond—praised enthusiastically by lower-rank awakeners who saw him as proof that extraordinary achievement was possible regardless of background, while simultaneously being resented by higher-rank individuals whose jealousy couldn’t tolerate someone achieving more than they had.
The divide was predictable but still interesting to observe from the inside.
Moon bookmarked several forums and information sources that might prove useful for future research, then set his phone aside.
The internet had provided some entertainment and general awareness, but the truly important secrets remained hidden from public knowledge.
Which meant he’d have to discover them through the same method he’d discovered them initially.
‘Hopefully more S-Rank gates start appearing. In the meantime, I should continue hunting S-Rank beasts in the areas that Tom and Kael told me about.’ Moon thought, excited about the prospect of finally having a lead to completing the final task.
[Gain a Legendary Rank Skill. 0/1] Staring at the task, it no longer felt impossible, but just beyond reach.
