His life total was accumulating rapidly once again, steadily filling the huge gap that the Supreme-rank Three-Tailed Illusion Fox had cost him during that harrowing battle.

“One-fifth of the requirement is now complete. And I still have vast areas of this Crimson Wasteland left to explore.”
Moon was beginning to feel grateful that he’d encountered Tom Glassy during his return from the S-rank gate. The Ascender’s recommendation about the Crimson Wasteland as a hunting ground was on the spot.
Moon urged Mirage forward across the red dunes, eager to locate his next target in this seemingly endless supply of powerful creatures.

Moon continued his exploration of the Crimson Wasteland for an entire day, clearing every major and minor area he could locate within the vast desert expanse.
Within that time frame, Moon had accumulated an enormous quantity of valuable resources. The Crimson Wasteland’s native beasts were all incredibly large specimens, making storage increasingly challenging as his spatial rings reached capacity limits.
His storage rings had become completely full hours ago, but Moon refused to stop his hunting spree. The nearest base was still six hours of travel away, and he didn’t want to waste precious time making multiple supply runs when he could be maximizing his task progress.
Instead, he simply fed them to Mirage or left the excess corpses scattered across the sand to decompose naturally—a strategy that would likely attract scavengers and potentially even S-Rank beasts drawn by the abundance of fresh meat.
By the time Moon had finished his thorough exploration of the Crimson Wasteland’s territories, he had successfully eliminated one additional S-rank creature, making his total rally up to three S-Rank beasts slain when including the Black Scorpion and Sand Worm from his initial encounters.

His evolution requirement was being filled at an encouraging pace. If he could maintain this rate of progress, Moon estimated he would complete the full fifty S-rank kills within approximately one month—well ahead of his original timeline projections.
One major challenge still remained unresolved: he hadn’t encountered any Supreme Creatures beyond the Three-Tailed Illusion Fox. However, knowing such beings existed and having concrete proof of their existence gave him reason for optimism about future discoveries.
“Time to return, sell these valuable corpses, and possibly find a new skill to copy,” Moon decided, preparing to mount Mirage for the journey back to earth.
As he approached his companion, Moon noticed that Mirage had been displaying signs of fatigue recently—symptoms that seemed familiar from their previous experiences together.
These were the characteristic indicators of impending evolution. Mirage was approaching another advancement threshold and would need extended rest periods to undergo the transformation safely, just like during his previous evolutionary cycles.
Unfortunately, Moon couldn’t simply store Mirage in the Beast Taming Space during travel, as that would force him to cover weeks of ground on foot—an unacceptable delay for his current objectives.
He would have to ask his loyal companion to endure the burden a bit longer until they reached the base’s facilities.
“Sorry, partner,” Moon said gently as he stroked Mirage’s magnificent mane. “I promise I’ll let you rest properly once we reach the base. Just a few more hours.”
Mirage responded with a calm neigh, his intelligent eyes conveying understanding and acceptance of the temporary hardship.
The bond between them had grown strong enough that such sacrifices were made willingly, with mutual respect for each other’s needs and limitations.
Moon mounted carefully, activating his [Heaviness] skill to reduce his weight to minimize discomfort for his evolving companion, and they began the journey back toward the distant base.
The successful hunting expedition was complete, and the next phase of his advancement plan was in process.
Before arriving at the bases, a kilometer away—Moon stored Mirage in his beast taming space, and walked it. Once he arrived at the base, many of the people present noticed him immediately, recognizing the face that had become a hot topic in the awakeners world.
Moon was now akin to a sun in the awakener’s world, most awakeners dreamed of becoming like him, but alas, it was impossible.
Many tried to create conversations, hoping that they had enough charisma to strike a friendship with one of the strongest awakeners alive, but alas, they all failed.
Moon respectfully declined everyone’s attempt at speaking more than mere pleasantries, saying he had a tight schedule before taking the portal, and returning back to earth.
Back at his apartment, Moon found Selene and Yara sitting comfortably together on the couch, watching what appeared to be a comedy show. They were sharing snacks and giggling frequently at the on-screen antics, clearly enjoying their relaxed evening together.
Moon took a refreshing shower to wash off the sweat and grime from his hunting, changed into new clothes, then joined them on the couch. His wet, jet-black hair had grown longer during past few months, now reaching his shoulders in damp strands.
‘I should get a haircut soon,’ Moon noted mentally, running his fingers through the lengthened locks.
Unknown to Moon, Selene was stealing occasional glances at him while pretending to focus on the television program, her eyes struggling to remain off him.
The group settled into a comfortable vibe for some time, with Moon taking the opportunity to really relax for once in a while after the constant fighting and travel of the Crimson Wasteland expedition.
During their casual watch session, they exchanged questions about how everyone had been faring during their separate activities. The updates were mostly positive—Yara especially seemed to be thriving in her new circumstances.
Yara and Selene had established a daily meeting schedule that worked for both their commitments.
Unless unforeseen complications arose, Yara would return to Earth at a specific time each day, and Selene would pick her up from the portal station.
Yara had also mastered basic phone usage and had several emergency contact numbers saved, including Selene, Moon, and additional contacts Selene had provided for situations where both primary guardians might be unavailable.
Her hunting progress was excellent as well. Yara was eliminating numerous A-rank beasts during her solo expeditions, steadily growing stronger and approaching her own evolution requirements at an impressive pace.
“Moon, when are you planning to advance to the Second Sanctuary?” Selene asked with obvious curiosity.
