SSS Awakening: I Can Class Change at will - Chapter 299 Fighting The Swordmaster

Chapter 299 Fighting The Swordmaster
“You’re getting stronger during our fight…” He managed to gasp, as he tried to keep up with Moon’s swordsmanship and elemental spells.
Moon’s body blurred as he activated [Bird Dance], and [Heaviness]. His weight dropped, and his movements became more graceful and unpredictable than ever.
Whoosh!
Slash!
Each strike came from unexpected angles, creating a graceful dance of slashes that the swordsman couldn’t counter or escape. Moon wasn’t being one dimensional with his attacks, he always incorporated an element into it.
Whether it was spikes emerging from beneath him, wind blades slashing towards him, or even lightning. Yet, still…the Swordmaster could only feel like Moon wasn’t actually trying to kill him, but merely playing with him.
“Help me!” the swordsman cried out to his beast companion.
The hedgehog launched more thorns in response, but Moon’s positioning remained constantly changing, using his [Air Step] ability to reposition whenever he found himself in disadvantageous locations. The attacks continued missing their mark as Moon danced between threats with grace.
“What even are you?!”
But there was no one left to hear his cry. Everyone who had remained in the captured base—all his subordinates, all his backup—had been eliminated by Moon. Those that had occupied the base previously were either dead, or migrated, returning back to earth using the portal in fear for their lives.
Only three combatants remained on the entire battlefield: Moon, the Swordmaster, and the hedgehog.
As the battle continued, the Swordmaster came to a chilling realization—the odds had never been in their favor from the beginning. The person he had initially thought was suicidal for attacking their fortified base alone was actually destroying them. It wasn’t Moon who needed backup; it was them.
[Piercing Sword]
[Rank: Uncommon]
[Level: Max]
—
[Bird Dance]
[Rank: Epic]
[Level: Max] A huge grin formed on Moon’s face as he achieved complete mastery of both stolen skills. Under the intense pressure of simultaneously fighting an S-rank Swordmaster and S-rank beast, Moon had shattered his previous record for mastering a skill in the shortest time possible.
He had managed to comprehend two skills in less than an hour!
‘Time to end this charade.’
Moon had never intended to let either opponent escape alive. Beyond the obvious benefits of claiming the base and collecting bounties on their heads, the Swordmaster had witnessed his class ability to utilize multiple classes simultaneously. That knowledge couldn’t be allowed to spread.
Moon took a big step backward, then lightning began crackling with menacing intensity around both hands. The familiar wolf began forming, growing larger and more menacing with each passing second.
ZAP!
Moon launched the Lightning Raiju directly at the hedgehog, who immediately sensed the mortal danger oozing out from the approaching attack.
In desperation, the beast released most of its remaining thorns toward the wolf hoping the barrage would somehow stop or disperse the charging lightning wolf.
The Swordmaster and the Hedgehog watched in shock as the Raiju smoothly dodged between the thorns under Moon’s control.
TZZBT!
The lightning wolf struck the hedgehog squarely in its face, lightning began spreading through its massive body and stopping its heart instantly, cooking it from the inside out.
[You have gained 1,000 Lives]
The Swordmaster stared in terror as an S-rank beast—one that even he would struggle to defeat in combat—was killed by a single attack.
His horrified gaze returned to Moon immediately, but he found empty space where his opponent had been standing.
Suddenly, Moon appeared directly before him, his lightning-coated sword already in motion toward the man’s torso.
The blade slashed through flesh and bone with ease. The Swordmaster was simultaneously electrocuted and bisected, his body collapsing in two separate pieces.
[You have gained 500 Lives]
The Swordmaster re-spawned a second later.
But Moon was already waiting for him.
Again and again, the cycle repeated. Each time the Swordmaster revived weakened from the system’s debuff, Moon was positioned perfectly to deliver another killing blow before his opponent could orient himself or make any defense.
After the sixth death, the Swordmaster’s life reserves were finally exhausted.
His body collapsed for the final time, joining the scattered corpses across what had once been a captured Glassy Group facility.
Moon stood alone among the carnage, victorious. The base was reclaimed, his evolution requirements had advanced by 2 S-rank kills, and he’d acquired two valuable new skills in the process.
Walking towards the lifeless corpse of the Swordmaster, Moon took the sword in his hand. “An S-Rank sword…not bad. This will be useful.”
Then, Moon began storing the bodies of all the beasts and outcasts he had killed during the battle. His mana reserves were still slightly above half capacity, so he didn’t need to rest or recover before continuing.
After collecting all the valuable beast corpses and monster cores, Moon made his way toward the portal that remained inside the base.
Inside the base, buildings had been turned completely upside down during the invasion. Many buildings were partially collapsed or severely damaged, and bodies littered the floors—some from the defending awakeners who had tried to protect the facility, others from the outcasts who had ultimately overrun it.
Moon left both the awakener and outcast corpses where they lay. He wasn’t going to claim them as loot—the people who had died defending the base deserved some form of compensation for their families in the real world, and the outcast bodies would serve as proof of their elimination for bounty collection.
Moon entered the portal, appearing back on Earth, and immediately called Kael. The line was answered on the first ring.
“I’ve finished clearing Bastion base. It’s secure and ready to be taken back. I’m heading to the second target location now. You can send somebody to retake control of Bastion immediately.”
Kael remained silent for a moment before responding in a single word, “Okay.”
They ended the call, and Moon walked back through the portal to return to the First Sanctuary.
The guards stationed outside the portal facility looked at each other with obvious confusion before shrugging.
Moon appeared back inside Bastion Base. He walked out, to find that the direhorse was still in its position. With no danger to its life, the direhorse waited for Moon.
Leaving wasn’t exactly safe as the predators lurking around would devour it mercilessly.
Moon jumped on it before urging it towards his next destination, “Let’s go.”
